My PS3 download sppeds are deathly slow. Is the Vita faster? Is it 802.11n?
I think it depends on location really but my Vita download speeds have always been faster then PS3, especially since the new PS3 store update.
They ship the non-sale version so I assume so. But there's a $10 shipping fee and an import fee of around $40 which makes it not so good a deal.

BTW. With the memory card talk.. I have a 32GB and it was the best decision I made with the system.
Especially wih PS+ content now coming and ps1 games and vita games.... It's a no brainier.

I'm tempted to jump on this because it's such a good deal, but I'm not really a handheld gamer so I know it will just collect dust after a few days of play. Might as well go to a better home.
My Vita definitely downloads faster than my PS3. Though I think it's still pretty slow.
Buy a Vita guys... It's beautiful, has some really good games, PS1 game catalog, PSP game catalog... it's a gamer's best friend.
If you have PS+ on your PS3 you DEFINITELY need to jump on this.
You're definitely going to need a bigger memory card for it though. The bundled one can get you started and store a 2, 3, maybe 4 games but with a Plus membership you are eating through that space pretty much the second you get it in your hands.

I also posted this in the PS Vita PLUS thread, but for people new to the Vita or Wipeout 2048, you should know that if you own Wipeout HD and/or Fury for the PS3, you can download them for free on the Vita as a dlc pack for 2048. It like doubles the size/content of an already great game. It doesn't run 60 fps like the console, but it's still pretty outstanding.

That kind of kills the deal for me honestly. I was hoping to resell the Sony All-Stars, but I think I'll have a much harder time selling the PSV version and also get lower profit.

PS+ is the main reason why I'm buying one. And for Tearaway next year as well.
Even if this is possible, keep in mind that you will still be limited to 8 directions.

I know that, but who cares?! I'm not using the majorly uncomfortable PS D-pad for anything. It increased the playability of Mario 64 DS when they did the same thing on 3DS.

I can't see them having much more than ten thousand of these (if even), so this alone won't save the Vita. If Sony pushes more promotions like this, however, it might help.

Yeah, it's been difficult to remain optimistic about the Vita with all the negative talk about it of late. But Vita, here I come!

I'm not sure why I'm excited about this deal to be honest. Haven't touched my PSP and DS in years, nothing really interesting on the Vita. I feel like I'm going to get cold feet and cancel my order after the rush of getting it in my cart.
You can assign the left analogue stick to be up down left and right in the Controller Settings -> Assign Buttons ->Custom menu
Just scroll down to the Left Stick on the left of the screen (vita side) and then on the right side assign the various directions. Works fine.
Sure it's not REAL analogue as you only have 8 directions but yeah, it works. The dpad will still work too.
They really did add a nice bit of customisation to the PS1 emulator.
