I'm watching this tommorow. I can't wait to watch it due to being a Gorr The God Butcher fan and that storyline in the comics. How was he in the film?
honestly he's in like five scenes total, and basically all the god-butchering is off-screened as plot set up but isn't ever really shown.

one review i read said bale played it like a combo of pennywise the clown and voldemort and that's about right.

basically a total waste of the character and christian bale as an actor. he's not unenjoyable he just does barely anything in the movie.

Personally I'll watch the movie myself and make my own judgment than read a review.

i mean you asked what he was like lol figured i'd answer since not many people would have seen the movie earlier than i managed to (nz time zone).

but ye basically he's another non-thanos marvel villain. echoes of how they handled ronan the accuser, though better because bale is enjoyable (though that also makes it even more infuriating that they wasted him tbh)

I'll let you know if I enjoyed the movie after I see it. I find the the run time to be short. I wish it was about 30 mins longer. I hated Spider-Man No Way Home and loved Doctor Strange In The Multiverse of Madness. Phase 4 has been hit and miss for me.

Gorr is a way better villain than Ronan. Gorr actually has motivations unlike Ronan who was just bad for the sake of being bad. And counting how many scenes a villain is in doesn't prove anything either, Thanos is also in 5-6 scenes in Infinity War.

Joker is in only 45 mins of scenes in The Dark Knight and that's my top 5 favorite comic book movie. That movie is long. I'm fine with Gorr as long as he's done properly in the film

Taika has been saying it's a romcom style for a while now so that's nothing new. Saying he's a comedy device would be a disservice to his journey so far nor is it a problem IMO.

Thor's storyline is the only one I genuinely care about on the solo movie level, so I'm really hyped for this.

I'm fine with that. Chris Hemsworth has great comedic timing
Midnight's Edge described it like comparing the amount of comedy that was in Batman Forever going overboard in Batman & Robin as such being the case here between Ragnarok and Love & Thunder.

So I can see if someone found the amount of comedy in Ragnarok borderline tolerable, that person would find the amount of comedy in Love & Thunder grating.

I don't watch Midnights Edge

I tend to make my own opinions on whether I like or hate something. I'm interested in watching Thor Love And Thunder. No matter if the movie gets good or bad reviews doesn't matter to me. I hate Spider-Mans No Way Home and everyone loves that movie

This is a bit disconcerting. Not that Thor needs to be super serious, but after Endgame...fuck me. Loved Ragnarok, so I'm definitely checking out Love and Thunder, but the negative reviews are starting to sound more and more on point.

Negative reviews? There are only 3 on Metacritic. On Rottentomatoes, 70% of critics enjoyed it and recommended it.
If you enjoyed Ragnarok, chances are you'll enjoy Love and Thunder.
IMO, there isn't that much more comedy in Love and Thunder, it certainly has more emotional/dramatic scenes compared to Ragnarok as well.

I think I'm making a mountain of a molehill thanks to the LA Times review. I'm definitely seeing it, but with expectations in check.

I've never liked/disliked a movie because others said so, I reserve judgement till I've watched the movie first-hand myself, but seeing the strengths/weaknesses pointed out by others (with receipts) helps me set my expectations for when I decide to watch said movie.

Still like to go into a movie without reading or watching any reviews due to not wanting to be spoiled. As for expectations, I always keep my expectations in check regardless of what rottentomatoes or metacritics says. Especially what a youtuber says regardless on whether they are anti woke or woke

Any inclusion, Diversity or LGBT things in the movie 😒😤?

Multiple character spoilers.
Korg's race potentially contains only males, he talks about his dads. Korg also liked seeing Thor's naked body. Valkyrie kisses a womans hand and Korg asks about a previous girlfriend. You see Heimdell's son, he's black, is that considered woke these days?
So if that offends you, maybe skip it.

Yeah that doesn't sound woke to me at all. I just find it funny how he has an issue with characters who aren't white having good roles. When I'm fine with actors being white who have substantial roles. That comment was interesting to say the least

Bale was the only thing going for this move that made me want to see it but after the disappointment that was Doctor Strange 2, think I'm done with Marvel products for now.

I'm about done with Marvel, after Endgame they just don't have any good story to follow. They are choosing the wrong directors and using the wrong writers and are mass-producing bad movies. Star Wars is walking the same path.
Up until Endgame there seemed to be a clear path in terms of what they were trying to do, and generally a consistent level of quality.

Since then there has been a clear drop in that quality, but not to Star Wars' level which is basically dead at this point.

They have a clear path mapped out until the 2040s at this point. But just like at the end of Phase 1 in 2012, Feige isn't showing you that.

It wasn't until Thanos showed up at the end of the first Avengers that there was any hint that they were going to do Infinity Gauntlet, as NONE of the Phase 1 movies hinted at Infinity Stones.

Just like it wasn't until Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness that there was any hint of them doing the full-on incursions leading to God Emperor Doom and Hickman's multiverse Secret Wars saga.

The people bitching now will be spooging in their pants when they get Namor, Doctor Doom, and MODOK in the next 12 months.

You don't get the point, its not about plot, its the direction and production that has gone to hell. The reason people care about Thanos was because the films were cool, if whatever movie about Namor or whatever the fuck is as bad as recent movies, it doesnt matter what source material they draw from.

The movies aren't bad, you just don't like them.

It's not the humor in Ragnarok that bothered me so much. After rewatching it the whole plot and and actual story wasn't that engaging. That's the issue I have with Taika, he is irreverent to the point of making things irrelevant. So things lack the emotional weight. James Gunn handles the balance so much better.

I'm still not convinced I need to see this in the theater.

My only problem with this movie is it condensed the best Thor comic run since Walter Simonsen down to 2 hours. It should've been a trilogy of 2 1/2 hour movies minimum.

They had what 30 movies to build the first phase and only like 5-6 of them were actually decent/good and people is noticing the slowdown in quality NOW?

What a mixed bag, im still in the cinema after just watching this, and while I did enjoy it, it could been better 6/10.

DS:MOM + no way home were both better.

Being faithful to original work is not a box on Disney's checklist. I'm sure they were like, "Thor:R was funny, people liked it. Let's focus on that."

The films so far have been a mishmash in terms of style, and of distinctly lower quality.

That sounds like you projecting your hopes to everybody else. But everybody else isn't a fanboy.

Oh I know. I'm fine with female Thor. Don't know why you are mentioning Comicsgate though?

Members of the movement object to diversification of comics, especially the increasing inclusion of women as writers and characters. The storylines objected to include those such as the "All New, All Different" campaign undertaken by Marvel Comics in the later 2010s, in which various white male characters that have traditionally had the superhero identities of Wolverine, Thor, Hulk, Captain America, and Spider-Man were temporarily replaced by female and/or racial-minority characters.

The reveal of the "All New, All Different" female Thor in 2015 is one of the things that really kicked it off. The irony is that Jason Aaron's epic ended up being the best run on Thor since Walter Simonsen.

Not too much comedy turning everything into a joke?

Its a bit all over the place in terms of tone, there are a few main plot points which are pretty serious, but a lot of the movie feels like a parody of thor, they really need to cool it with the sarcasm.

They did a serious Thor movie. No one liked it.

Have u seen it?

Ragnarok had a good balance.
The first thor had a serious story with humour peppered in, love and thunder is just a bit all over the place, it does not have a strong backbone. I think the first 1/2 of dark world is actually better.

Just got out of an IMAX showing. Fuck the critics, they've lost their damn minds. This was a fantastic, hilarious, action packed rollercoaster. Thor, Jane, Valkyrie, Zeus, Gorr, they were all great.

Nearly the entire audience (theater was sold out) stayed until the end credits. Worth the wait by the way. Great vibe at my showing.

Ragnarok undercut lots of serious moments in favor of comedy, and this one improved on that by letting the serious moments play out. The comedy had its place, and so did the actual plot.

8/10 for me.

Over 15,000 reviews, sitting at 3.4.

Over 14,000 reviews, sitting at 7.2.

People like the movie, they don't think it's bad like you say.
Do you think that is the mark of a good film? do you think fanboys voting on imdb mean it's a good movie?

I don't care if you enjoy it, it's fine, you can like what you want. But you base quality on likes, it's nonsensical.

That new Doctor Strange movie earned over a billion, and that movie is soulless and braindead, people watch anything if there are effects in it and it's Marvel.

The new Doctor Strange didn't make over a billion.
I think the 2 Venom films are absolute dog shit, so to me they are terrible films. But there are far more people who love them or enjoyed them. Who am I to go around telling these people that the movies they enjoyed are shit and they are wrong. Everyone is entitled to their own opinion and they can enjoy what they want.

You aren't any sort of authority on what's considered good or bad.
