So another underwhelming movie? That’s sad for Hemsworth.

Same with the Star Wars movies. It’s because of the Nerd Crew-type of reviewers. They’re fanboys first and reviewers second.
Exactly, just look at IGN or any other of these outlets, the people reviewing movies aren't movie buffs, they are superhero fans. These movies and TV shows are getting significantly higher scores because of it.

It doesn't matter though, as most people are absolute cretins when it comes to stuff like this and would watch a rock falling down a hill as long as it got some special effects on it. Disney is gonna keep making billions by killing famous franchises.

One could say you aren't a movie buff for hating on the genre....

Like movie nerds are any less annoying than comic book nerds. I like Taika Waititi though. Jojo Rabbit was way better than most movies I've seen from recent years, and he even got a way better performance from Scarlet Johansson in it than I've ever seen in a marvel film.

Who are you to say they aren't movie buffs just because they like super hero movies?
I didn't say they aren't movie buffs because they like superhero movies, I said a lot of sites have a tendency to have the resident super marvel fan review everything marvel, and it's juicing review scores.

The same thing happened with game of thrones, a lot of sites started to review the show out of the blue when it got popular.

Critic reviews have become as reliable as user reviews. It's not the 90's anymore. A good chunk, if not the majority, of "official" reviews are done by people that only have blog-level experience in writing and got the job because they were the biggest "movie buff" on the staff at the time, or they have a site/blog that got popular because they spammed rumor articles everyday for a couple years and then act professional when they're high enough on the Google SEO.

It's all a joke. Watch trailers and use your own judgement from that if you want to see the movie or not. That's a more reliable strategy than what modern reviewers are going to say.

I have tickets for Saturday, but I'm not "excited" like I was to see Maverick or even Elvis.
I think Marvel makes weak trailers, and I felt this exact way about the last Spiderman, so I'm hoping it ends up being great - loved No Way Home.
This phase has been a turd to me so far and the way too close tie to Disney+ shows makes it all feel like homework. This one seems free of that aspect at least.

Strikes me that a lot of these new MCU movies would fair far worse with critics… if they weren’t MCU movies.
MCU films get reviews from the kind of outlets that the RLM Nerd Crew is parodying. For some reason Rotten Tomatoes includes a shit load of them for their scoring. The average film gets ignored by those places because they have such a small scope. So an MCU film is getting substantially more reviews and from places that are far more likely to be positive.

Really needs to stop making it look like they just came of the assembly line Disney. First mcu movie I have no problem reading apoilers. Loki remains the goat of phase 4.

I think I'll wait for the Disney plus release.

Decided I won't ever pay a dime towards any Disney release.

I can't think of a single good movie released by Disney in the past 2 years.

There haven't been that many good movies from the majority of studios over the last 2-3 years. lol

I have to say, I think the B&W scenes in this movie looked absolutely gorgeous, really nice. There is more heart and emotion in this film compared to Ragnarok as well.

I'm watching this tommorow. I can't wait to watch it due to being a Gorr The God Butcher fan and that storyline in the comics. How was he in the film?

I personally think he really hit it out of the park and came across as menacing. His scenes are pretty much all played straight which I was happy to see. There could be maybe 1 or 2 lines that come across as "jokey" but it's due to the scene and circumstance that it's in.

*EDIT*
And there are definitely differences to his arc from the comics, works well for the movie.

Yeah Christian Bale is a fantastic actor. My favorite role of his is Patrick Bateman from American Psycho
