I wonder if all these fancy actors get together at their fancy actor parties and now argue over which of their comic book characters are the best/most powerful.

Still surprised that Cate Blanchett is in this, most of all. And now Jeff Goldblum in an MCU film?

Crazy.

But then I remember that it's Thor...

Should be Eva Green.

Yes:

Thor’s new cast members join returning stars Chris Hemsworth (“Rush,” “In the Heart of the Sea,” “Ghostbusters”) in the title role for the fifth time; Tom Hiddleston (“Crimson Peak,” “The Night Manager,” “Kong: Skull Island”) as Thor’s adversarial, adopted brother, Loki; Golden Globe® and Screen Actors Guild Award winner Idris Elba (“The Dark Tower,” “Luther,” “Beasts of No Nation”) as the Asgardian sentry, Heimdall; and Academy Award®-winner Sir Anthony Hopkins (“Silence of the Lambs,” “Nixon,” “Hitchcock”) again portraying Odin, Ruler of Asgard.

Awesome, because trying to make the film without him after the way Dark World ended would've been next to impossible.

He's the Grandmaster, the master of all of the games in the universe. He's extremely intelligent and has the Power Primordial (not the Power Cosmic) is pretty much immortal.

Interestingly, he was the owner of the Mind gem, which Thanos already had in the MCU. Who knows what they're going to do with him, but I imagine he's the one that sets up the Planet Hulk-esque gladiator games in this movie.

It'll be interesting to see how he differs from the GotG cartoon where they attempt to adapt him to be similar to MCU's Collector (no powers, but still very aloof. Just a shady business man)

Sweet :D

At this rate, Thor: Ragnarok will retroactively make the first two Thor movies great.
I did enjoy the first two Thor movies. That's right, even The Dark World.

ok, this could be weird or really cool. or they just change her origin.

Well even in the comics, it's not -this- Loki technically. I don't think the movies would want to get into that, but maybe they would depending on how they define "Ragnarok" in the film.

Isn't he one of the immortals that survived the death of the last universe or something, like the Collector? Does that make sense?

Or just not refer to her origin at all.

Same here. I liked Thor and Loki's brotherly chemistry. "Go back, you missed a pillar."

You forgot Chiwetel Ejiofor, Benedict Wong and Scott Adkins on Dr. Strange

Pfff I'm sure someone will soon enough. And their tears will feed me until release date!

Purposely didn't include the latter two (was using the lists on Wikipedia) but I feel stupid for forgetting Chiwetel, he's one of my most hyped-for aspects of Doctor Strange. Edited all three in though.

Rank the Phase 3 casts

Doctor Strange - Benedict Cumberbatch, Tilda Swinton, Chiwetel Ejiofor, Rachel McAdams, Mads Mikkelsen, Michael Stuhlburg, Benedict Wong, Scott Atkins

Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 - Chris Pratt, Zoe Saldana, Dave Bautista, Vin Diesel, Bradley Cooper, Michael Rooker, Karen Gillan, Sean Gunn, Glenn Close, Pom Klementieff, Elizabeth Debicki, Chris Sullivan, Kurt Russell, Sylvester Stallone

Spider-Man: Homecoming - Tom Holland, Robert Downey Jr., Marisa Tomei, Michael Keaton, Zendaya, Laura Harrier, Tony Revolori

Thor: Ragnarok - Chris Hemsworth, Tom Hiddleston, Idris Elba, Anthony Hopkins, Mark Ruffalo, Cate Blanchett, Jeff Goldblum, Tessa Thompson, Karl Urban

Black Panther - Chadwick Boseman, Lupita N'yongo, Michael B. Jordan, Martin Freeman, Andy Serkis, rumored John Boyega, rumored Chris Evans

All of these are downright INSANE.

I guess this answers the question of "How does Hulk end up in space?" The Grandmaster probably just teleports him to some gladiator planet and he ends up running into Thor.

Hot damn. Marvel is rounding out their space adventures with some talent. Hoping at least one of those characters crosses over into GotG2/Infinity War.

Damn, between BP, Strange, GOTG, and now Thor. They are loading up with talent. Between the critical acclaim and box office reciepts, who doesn't want to be apart of MCU?

This cast wins.

Not even a question.

Loki by himself wins, IMO. Add Odin, Hulk/Banner and all those other people and holy shit...

And Goldblum... I mean, uh, well, there it is!

Grandmaster will probably the one brings hulk to Asgard.

Yup here's how it needs to play out

Loki (as Odin): Grandmaster I am planning a tournament of the greatest champions in the Nine Realms. Find me the most powerful fighters from across the stars and bring them to me.

Grandmaster: Lord Odin I have found the most powerful warrior to do battle for our pleasure. Behold...

*Hulk is transported to Asgard and immediately begins wailing on Loki/Odin*

I wonder (as someone relatively unfamiliar with the comics), is it possible for them to combine the role of Hela with Death? Because imagining scenes in Infinity War with dual villains played by Brolin and Blanchett would be really incredible.

Yeah. He's one of the few things in 616 that actually can't die (or nobody has gotten close yet.) He's messed with some pretty big names and has only come out with damage to his ego.

I could see this happening

Marvel drafts actors into the MCU, the actor's wishes never come into the equation.

If true, Goldblum is going to get his shit pushed in like the Red King did

Thor/Hulk team-up, lots of new characters, and an acclaimed comedy director at the helm. This is shaping up to be interesting for sure.
