Just saw it tonight.

Was good, not as good as the first and on-par with Cap America 1.

Some amazing bits/story spoilers though and one of the best cameos in the Marvel movies.

As always, if you want spoilers, just ask and I'll answer.

That does not fempute, the first one was only decent.

Edit: Shira, I'm going to cut you for that unmarked spoiler.

iron man 3 is the best marvel studios film. thank god it's also the second most successful. if it flopped we'd get more shit like this and captain america and less risks like guardians and ant man.

Captain America is one of the worst comic book movies.

yeah but i bet they'd start worrying about hiring james gunn and edgar wright and giving them creative freedom if shane black's film wasn't received so well.

I wouldn't be too sure about that. They're completely different films with completely different expectations.

Well I loved both Thor and Captain America. Hell I loved all of the Marvel movies from Iron Man 1 on up, so I'm sure I'll love the shit out of Thor 2. Looking forward to seeing it next weekend.

All the Cap hate in here... what on earth. That film was fun. I certainly never get bored watching the first two-thirds of it.

Thor 1 is pretty bland in comparison.

I'd gladly watch both Fantastic Four's before I'd suffer through Captain America again.

Captain America's movie poster makes for a better film than Rise of the Silver Surfer. If just looking at an image of the silver surfer doesn't make you cringe, you are not looking hard enough.

For everyone's information, Portman wasn't forced to do this movie. I can dig up the link but she was asked that question recently in an interview and debunked it. She did it willingly.

Are you guys just now realizing that the Marvel movies are the most polarizing set of films in the last couple years?

Every one of them has a decent number of people who love it and hate it. Even the Avengers has a staunch group of super haters.

Captain America is the worst Marvel movie, Thor ranks in the top three along with the original Iron man and The Avengers.

Eagerly anticipating Thor 2!

Man of Steel was legit one of the worst movies I've seen in the last 5 years
The hyperbole on man of steel shittiness is mind boggling considering it has a decent story and way superior action than any of the marvel movies or batman

But it actually doesn't have a decent story or anything interesting in its action scenes.

The action was alright eye candy sure, but it was all completely pointless and uninteresting. Supes and Lois aren't going to die or even have their story arcs changed by the battles-- there was no point or tension to any of the action. Zod being defeated by Supes was a given and after getting punched through the 100th building it all got very dull. Furthermore Metropolis appears to be completely unscathed and life back to normal in the end, what?

The story was completely mediocre. They skipped any character arc at all by having Jor El show up and hit fast forward on the story. The villains were completely one dimensional and boring once they came to Earth. Pa Kent dies... for what reason?! Everyone knows what Supes looks like, heck Lois shows up on the Kent farm after like.. a week of searching... and we're supposed to believe Clark can show up at the Daily fucking Planet with glasses and go unrecognized?

Just a complete mess overall imo

I won't get into the specifics, because sometimes I don't like to think about the details. All I know is that if I take Man of Steel and put it up against other comic films, I find I was much more entertained by Man of Steel than most. The why of it doesn't matter so much to me. It was no Begins or Dark Knight, but it was certainly much better than IM3 and Avengers.

But you could really say this about any superhero movie.

And I'm surprised Marvel movies are this polarizing. They all just seem so ... adequate to me. Like they are faithful enough to not piss off fans, but still broad enough to be entertaining to general audiences.

Sure-- i don't expect Bane to actually kill Batman or anything, but there should be a point to action sequences above just 'hey look at what cool shit we rendered today'-- which is what the action in MoS felt like to me.

For example in Iron Man the action has a reason within the plot. When Stark gets captured by enemies using his own weapons against him it causes him to move away from selling arms and also comes back to haunt him when his prototype suit's technology is used against him.

Avengers > IM > Thor > IM3 > Cap > IM2 > Hulk

Real talk.

Also, for those interested, the first batch of critic reviews have been mostly positive, as you can see here.
