Nah, you're all wrong. It's obviously:

Avengers>Iron Man>Iron Man 3>The rest

Seriously, you guys are crazy thinking IM3 was shit.

The hyperbole on man of steel shittiness is mind boggling considering it has a decent story and way superior action than any of the marvel movies or batman

I concur. MoS had better action than any marvel movie so far, imo. Maybe avengers 2 or GotG will change this, but Snyder will probably step it up. I didn't think avengers was shitty or anything, it was great. Just thought mos topped it.

O yes, thor. I liked the first alot. Look forward to this one as well. I hope he wears the helmet for a tad.

A note about the post credit scene from a review. (No story or cast spoilers.)

There are two of them apparently, ala Avengers.

I am going to re-watch it and see, but the mishandling of Extremis pissed me off so much.

So much cool stuff that could have been brought over, but they trashed nearly all of it.

FFS there are people on GAF that prefer TDKR to Batman Begins.

That is fucking insane.

Are we talking about the avengers here?

Iron Man 3 was the worst movie Marvel's put out, tied only with Iron Man 2. ...Okay, Iron Man 2 was probably worse, but still!

Every other movie was better, honestly.

Honestly, I think I might have liked IM2 more than 3.

IM2 was one of those movies where you kinda saw what they were going for, but was just fucked up. IM3 feels like twenty zillion movies, and none of them Iron Man.

In all honesty, this is exactly how I felt about IM3. I could understand exactly what it was going for and appreciate the idea. It just didn't quite get there. I still prefer it over IM2 though.

But in the end, all this talk is nonsense. Every comic movie ever > Fantastic Four.

People don't want to give MoS any sort of credit, simply because it didn't turn out to be the best thing ever. The action sequences in it are absolutely spectacular.

They certainly look fantastic. It's just that there's more than a lot of action in the film and said action is boring precisely because the film hasn't done the necessary work to make you give a fuck about anybody involved in it. The action also doesn't really have an organic momentum to its structure. It doesn't feel like there are action beats that rise and escalate with the stakes we should be caring about. The film's action hovers somewhere between a 9 and an 11 for roughly three quarters of the film and it's too much. It's exhausting. It's like if the Matrix Reloaded highway sequence were to go on for 80 minutes.

It's like watching a Transformers action scene, only better shot. I didn't give a fuck about anybody involved. Not Superman, not Lois, not Toby Ziegler, nor Zod.

I think it's related to this that I find I can't actually remember anything about MoS, especially in its last half. And that's despite thinking the film was a'ight. I think I remember a town. And a really big guy, and a chick. Beyond that I'm coming up blank.

So much this.

You.

I like you.

I don't get how Thor gets even a little praise. It was boring as fuck. Asshole Thor get's banished to Earth, eats some breakfast, can't pick up his hammer, fights with fire spewing robot, the end.

At least there was a better character development with Cap.

IM1=Avengers>IM3>Cap1=IM2>Thor

I love MoS as much as I love Snyder, but everything you said are... right.

:(

Worst thing yet, the same problems could happen to Superman/Batman.

It isn't untrue what you say. I didn't find it boring though, I think Snyder did the best he could've done with the material he was given.

that's um.. a bold claim.

Man of Steel was "ok," but was analogous to a pizza with every single possible topping. it was so busy trying to do EVERYTHING that it ended up doing nothing really well.

Great post.

I enjoyed Man of Steel quite a bit, but it needed to slow the fuck down some. If it had just given us longer character moments and--gasp--less action, it would've been a lot more enjoyable. That Batman movies had no problem with this, but that's the difference between Snyder and Nolan...

As for for Thor, can't wait. Really enjoyed pretty much all of the first one except the time on Earth.

I really don't place all of the blame on Zack for how it came out however.. it all begins with the terrible script they decided to film. Who's the writer on SuperBat?

Snyder did the best he could with the material he was working on cmon people. What y'all are clomouring for is a melodramatic superman with forced character development. I believe that superman movie already exists. Let's not pretend that the superman character is some multi dimensional persona.

I don't blame entirely on Zack.
Goyer is the main one to blame for the character development, while Snyder is responsible for the overlong action scene. I still like the action though.
Anyway, I'm worried for Supes/Bat because Goyer is still the goddamn writer! To make it worse, Snyder is writing as well.

I tend to agree. The material could be a lot better though.

Man of Steel was a glossy, problematic, self-indulgent power fantasy by a guy who specializes in glossy, problematic, self-indulgent power fantasies like 300 and maybe the worst film I've seen in 2011, Sucker Punch. It was a Snyder film through and through; looks good in trailers, doesn't hold up as much of a cinematic story.

Thor: The Dark World will probably be around the same level, 6/10.

Watchmen?

man, how long is Snyder going to ride this excuse? :lol

Even Watchmen, which was easily his best (in terms of material to work with and final product), is more problematic than good. I like the film a lot but mainly for Crudup and Haley's performances and a few exquisitely-directed sequences.

Snyder can shoot the fuck out of a movie but crafting a satisfying narrative is just not in his wheelhouse.

Looking forward to Thor. Hoping it is better than that garbage that was IM3.
