Titanfall 2 Multiplayer Technical Test Impressions (XB1/PS4)

I'll be home later and downloaded on the PS4, but can do so on Xbox also. I remember we used to play R1 until 4 A.M. lol.

Xbox bruh. =)

Also I can't wait for my latest clip to upload. I'm not sure what happened, but people got robbed lmao

edit: hey, I'll be on tomorrow maybe, I gotta get off in like 20 minutes

I miss the burn cards. I liked how unpredictable it made the game compared to others.

And having amped weapons as part of your charge to get a Titan is just dumb.

This a disgrace to the original Titanfall. Nothing is alike. I remember T1 being fun and exciting every moment I played. T2 just feels frustrating and aggravating. I have never been so mad at a video game.

Seriously, in a game all about fast movement, there is nothing more un fun than walking around on the ground for half the match. And the TTK is so broken because of it. I don't know if it was this fast in T1, but at least in that game you had room to move. There is just very little wall running potential in this game at the moment. And I don't understand why they would say "don't worry, none of the maps are like the big one in a field", then why the hell would that be one of the maps you want to give a first impression on? Well their excuse was that they wanted to show off the long range weapons. Ha!! I am lost for words. This is not the game I grew in love with a couple of years ago. It makes me sad ):

Yeah, starting with a titan or having permanent stim is cool, but hardly hardly hardly balanced at all. Even amped weapons, cool... but barely balanced.

True, but then once they'd played that card they could no longer use it - whilst the other team were more than welcome to use their own burn cards.

It certainly felt like a better way to play than with the weapon charges they have in TF2

Does anyone else think this lacks the visual identity that the first game had? There were a lot of nice little touches that made TF1 stand out amongst the other shooters but I don't think this could look any more generic if it tried.

I'm not out of bed yet and I still have to make pancakes for my family for breakfast, but I'm not liking what I'm reading.

Still basically shit?

I would say the core game is mediocre to good with a design philosophy that is closer to CoD than Titanfall.

The maps though, the maps are shit.

Ok this is pure snowballing, Tf1 looked generic as it possibly could.

It only ever stood out art wise through Boneyard.

I think he's talking more about the filter and dirtiness of the first game which this is lacking. In that regard I can agree with him, TF2 feels too clean compared to the first.

finally got to play titanfall for hour or 2. the biggest concerns for me are the map design, game modes and low ttk.

the map design is horrible. tf1 has so many classics that encourage wall running and all i see here is big fields. this plays nothing like tf1, people were staying in same spot and holding the fort, that aint tf.

im not sure why people were complaining about the lack of bots, all i see in bounty hunt are the bots. if this is a replacement for attrition then respawn fucked up because this is shit.

the ttk is really low and because amped is so readily available this is making things worse.

i wont be getting this at launch, not win gears 4 in the same month but i will pick it up down the line.

Why the fuck is that when you enter the titan your ammo doesn't get replenished? Ugh, I just spent a whole match without anti-titan ammo.

Out of curiosity, and I'm not asking this out of cynicism or trying to get a rise out of anyone, but how many people here are genuinely liking this much more than the first game? I'm just curious about how many people are still incredibly stoked after playing this.

Dear Respawn:

- Please grew out the dash bar colour when I don't have one available, it's very hard to see.

- I don't like this new map, honestly. It flashes red for AI and Pilots the same way, doesn't it?

Well,

Titanfall had the look of a universe that was basically falling apart. Hammond industries had (IIRC) more or less gone out of business and all the Titan's and training pods were all old junkers. That was pretty cool.

Everything is pretty clean here, and it lacks a lot of the whizbangs like talking in your ear from your commander, ships dropping in and out of the game, animals grabbing AI characters. Lots of cool little things that the Azure and probably the focus on multiplayer only and not single players allowed them to do with their free time. Im hoping some of this was lost because they wanted to keep the demo download size small, but I am guessing some of it was resources being shifted over to the multiplayer game.

I don't see how you cant get around these maps without a grappling hook. Why this is not a base feature for your character is a mystery.

I feel like I'm forcing myself to play this game, so I guess it's not for me. A shame, since I've been interested in Titanfall since the first game's reveal at E3 a few years ago.

Throughout my playtime I've noticed that the movement options tend to get you killed a lot. As a result, I ended up playing it more like COD and sticking to the ground. I really wish the maps facilitated the wall running and movement abilities more.

Feels a lot better this weekend, Boom town actually plays fun, the other map should be scrapped, can't remember the name of it, same as the one last weekend.

Switched out my Titan weapon for the pistol which feels a more effective tactic for me personally

Haven't played the new map yet.

But I enjoyed it more than last weekend, feels better, but I spent more time just running and gunning than going to objectives! So give me attrition please :) and I didn't care if I won or lost, so goes to show I don't find this new mode interesting.

Only played a few games and finished MVP every time so maybe on Saturday when the try testers filter out and decent players are in more matches my view may change

Will I go for Titanfall 2 when Gears 4 hits and the new COD hits, I'm not sure - will keep dropping in and out over the weekend and see

Confused on enemy Titan interaction. If you hop on the enemy Titan, it immediately rips a battery out and throws you off. I thought it was like the first where you get up there and shoot them.

How do you go about doing that?

Have they mentioned anything about fixing the out of bounds shit in the middle of that map near the trees? By fix I mean get rid of the trees, not remove the out of bounds and add even more campers.

Well, maps are arguably the key element. They nurture the gameplay. Support it, encourage it, influence it. If they're shit, the whole thing is shit.

Agree

If they release it in this state then I honestly think the game is doomed. It's still going to sell but if people think the first game died off fast then this game is going to make Evolve look like it had long legs
ok maybe not that bad
. The game needs better maps from the get go, not added with DLC. I'm aware they said they'd add more titanfall-like maps but how many and are those actually going to be good?

Delay it, rework or scrap the current maps to get rid of the whole 3 lane shit. Fix the other issues people have with it and basically turn the game into Titanfall 2, not Call of Duty: Mechs.

Lane focus plus grappling hook = these maps
Which is funny because the grappling hook in just TF1 would have been fine, barring a few changes
Exactly. The grappling hook would have fit in TF1 fine. Would be awesome using the grappling hook on Boneyard with loads of Zip lines aswell, turning them into a 4 way traversal rather than 2.

What do I do with batteries? When I'm carrying one it says "Press Square to call out" but it doesn't seem to do anything.
You want to put the battery in a Titan on your team whose battery was removed.

Is the new beta up?

You don't, it's gone, now you just drop a grenade in there, that's it

You don't. You steal batteries and give them to other Titans on your team to power up their special attacks.

It's dumb.

Unless there is a way I'm not aware of.
