Titanfall Beta (PC/Xbone) Impressions (No Key Begging/Trading or I will ban you!)

Game has serious technical issues. It's freezing all the time, sometimes permenantly, forcing me to hard reset my computer. I haven't even been able to play a match yet. It really just seems like a console game through and through too. There's graphical pop-in literally 5 metres in front of you even on the highest possible graphics settings.

Haven't had any of these problems.

I was having the same issues, but they went away after I turned off shadowplay.

That moment when you call in your Titan for the first time ever in a MP match. I like it, will most likely get it if my friends do too. Otherwise I pass and buy it later on for cheap.

I'd actually hate to miss out on this but I'm only going to play it with a few friends in my party, just like BF3 (no BF4 for me cause no friends there).

Getting it for PC obviously, shooters on consoles are just stupid (wouldn't get this if it was on PS4 either, PC masterrace for shooters).

Weird. It seems like a really great port so far. Everything from optimization, stability and input are spot on.

Are you implying it's my PC?

The game ran perfectly fine in the training. Played perfect. Then it went completely broken during online play.

I was having the same issues, but they went away after I turned off shadowplay.

Nice, I'll give this a try because I know I turned it on a day or two ago.

My brother got an extra PC key and I'm downloading now. If I get an email with a code I'll be sure to spead the love.

Too hype to handle.
Happy Valentines day!

My only problem with popular shooters on PC is having to deal with more hackers and people using aimbots. Annoying.

Finished the training. 1600x1200, insane textures and vsync, but I don't get a steady 60fps. I know it's a beta, but I'm starting to worry about my OC'd GTX670's relevance.

Interesting.

No problems here runs fluid.

I'm starting to get that feeling of 'holy crap, this game is awesome'.

If you play it for a short time, it may not occur to you. Once you start playing match over match, it starts 'clicking' and you want to get better at dominating the battlefield and winning matches.

I'm surprised that it was able to get its hooks in so quickly, Respawn is definitely putting their best foot forward in this regard.

Like Halo, got JIP'd into a game where the team already had won.
Aaaaaand multiple headshots with a pistol doesn't do squat.

Played a few rounds on the PC just now. Oh man...so just to let you guys know where I'm coming from, I used to really like Call of Duty. Maybe not as much as the kids ever did, or as much as some other people, in fact I've never prestiged in any of the games, but I played them enough where I had a good time with them, and would buy them day one at least until MW2 came out. Been still playing the games here and there, but never been nearly as big into them, and have only just recently played COD ghosts cuz there isn't much else on my PS4 still.

Now as for Titanfall...initial impressions are...well, it seems awesome. It just feels and controls so great, and the combat looks fast and frantic, but I still feel completely in control. I love that feeling you get everytime you kill an enemy, or get into a titan. This feels like the next evolution of what Call of Duty started, and not the stagnation that those games have been content with doing. Not sure if I'll feel that way in the long run, but that is my initial impression so far. Loving it so far.

Another of these replies. I don't know of what value this is supposed to be to me.

I tried turning off Shadowplay and completely exiting GeForce Experience and it's still freezing on map load then dropping the connection to the game.

This game is really fun, but so far every game I've played has ended with server errors. Beta is beta, but hopefully this doesn't turn out like Battlefield 4's launch.

I was wrecking it in my last match. Finally got the feel for piloting a Titan.

What I would do for this game with a clean visual art style. Now there are just busy textures, smoke and dust everywhere among the grey soldiers running and jumping around.

Is your firewall holding it back? Since i gave it permission or your virusscanner.

8 games on PC, or problems except for getting a server disconnect 10 seconds into a match.

Shotguns are... Kinda strong from a ways out?

Performance wise I'm not impressed at all on PC. Got an overclocked 680 and i7 4770K and I'm getting weird dips to ~40 fps when turning around way too often. After 4 games I alt-tabbed out and when I started up the next game it was a stuttering mess. Game being locked to 60fps with Vsync off is just dumb. Apparently you can get higher with Vsync enabled, but the mouse lag I get with it on is insane (with both double and tripple buffered) so that ain't happening.

Game itself plays good, but the bots really isn't for me. Insanely dumb and I'd rather not have them on the field at all. I can run into a room with 5 of them and just kick all of them before they even start to react sometimes.

Got 2 shotted by a shotgun from a distance where a shotgun barely does damage in BF4. Shit is a bit too strong.

Played the beta for many hours with a friend yesterday. I have mixed feelings and I really don't get the all the excitement that surrounds this game... People are treating this like some sort of FPS messiah, when in reality it's just a reskinned COD with mechs.

Graphics are meh, slightly better than COD.
Gameplay is fine and enjoyable, player movement is fantastic, weapon feedback is really good and all the action is really fast paced and exciting.

However I really don't like the bots+human players thing, especially because the AI is braindead. Controlling and fighting the Titans isn't exactly as cool as it sounds and like COD there seem to be a lot of balance issues.

Also I'm afraid this game will suffer from even worse DLC whoring than COD. The base game content looks very limited. I know this is a beta but recent previews of the game seem to point that out...

Luckily I am having good performance but I agree with the bots being poorly set up right now.
I though would love them to be much much harder not gone.

How much do PC beta keys go for?

So I got an xbox key, opened the ticket via the link shared earlier in the thread, and a couple hours later got an email that I was now in the titanfall closed beta (the email looked totally different (more low key) than the xbox key version.) There was no key to redeem, I just logged into origin on my PC and it was there as a download.

My only problem with popular shooters on PC is having to deal with more hackers and people using aimbots. Annoying.

I take that over a controller and limited console hardware any day. There is no console I would prefer over my PC in terms of shooters (my rig is just too good to miss out on super high FPS & graphics by playing this on a console with a controller).

Is there any word on Anti-Cheat though? I assume we wont see a lot of cheater with a proper Anti-Cheat system and the fact that they will hopefully ban Origin accounts for cheating. I mean they ban Origin accounts for troll-posting on Battlelog forums? Why wouldn't they ban for cheating.

Game is freaking awesome. Soo much better than COD.

Here's a few things that I dont think have been mentioned yet that you can do. These might help you a bit.

1. You can call your titan down on top of an enemy titan and it will destroy it no matter how much health they have.

2. you can grab someone out of their titan when they are in doomed state and throw them against a wall to kill them, you have to melee them while they are in the doomed state.

3. You can hop on the back of friendly titans for added cover.

4. You can spawn in your titan if its ready as long as its not deployed already

5. Titans can sprint, crouch, and dash but cant jump.

I know there's a few more things that I noticed and had never heard before but these are the ones I remember atm. Ill post more once I get some more play time in. Time for House of Cards season 2! Best Valentines day ever lol

Brofist. FPS best with KB/M.
master race j/k

I'm having a weird problem, still haven't been able to play a game at all or do the training.

Whenever I try to load something up, it just never finishes loading and it seems like it loses connection and just boots me to the main menu or freezes.

Is it just me with this problem?

Hey, can we keep the beta key begging in the TF Beta Thread of Begging and Whining?http://www.neogaf.com/forum/showthread.php?t=767504

This thread is for impressions, not scoring keys. And that's the thread where Respawn handed out a bunch of keys last night.

On Topic: I'm am jonesing to play some more. I'm at work, where there are no tiny humans to crush, nor Titans to punch.

Well, got into the Beta! But, I am away from home and only have my MacBook Air with the intel 5000. This'll be interesting on bootcamp.

This game is really ugly on PC. Damn.
I mean like really ugly. Textures are just damn ugly.

There is a snowballing effect also. I don't like it.

Maybe someone can help me out.

Right now I can't even play the game. When I move the mouse, it just jerks right to where I stop, like there is no movement inbetween at all. If i move the mouse super slowly it goes ok. If I run around and jump just using the keyboard it moves just fine. I figured it was maybe an FPS problem, so I lowered everything down to low/off and same thing as with everything on high.

I can sometimes see my mouse flying over on to my second monitor for a brief moment. I'm guessing this game has issues with multi monitors? I'm only playing the game on one screen.

EDIT:

Well it is definitely something to do with the mouse I'd say. The controls just fine using the 360 controller with none of the jerking around. Also, when trying to looking around using the mouse, it got a LITTLE bit smooth it (ie a few frames between the movement to where I pointed instead of just jerks right to it) when I put the put the sensitivity to max.

Played both this morning and i have to go with X1. PC, visually, is much better. That's a given. I ran it maxed out at 60fps no problems on a technical side but the problem i came across is that it's way too fucking insane on PC for me. I am pushing 30 and i don't have cat like reflexes anymore and i just can't keep up with the twitch players on KB/M. X1 i did extremely well and i feel like i actually have a chance and that i am more on fair ground and most importantly i actually had fun on the X1 version. PC version i was dead every 2 seconds and mechs and people were just flying doing 4234324 turns blast everyone and it's just way, way, way too chaotic for a 6v6 to me.

As for the X1 version, does it dip to 30fps? I had quite a few times where it was looking extremely bad in terms of FPS drops.
