Titanfall Beta (PC/Xbone) Impressions (No Key Begging/Trading or I will ban you!)

So is the PC version utilizing Azure servers? I've seen a "Connecting to Xbox LIVE servers" notification once or twice.

I love the game and think it looks great maxed out in PC (well minus the insane texture setting), it just feels like it need s a little bit more optimisation to me - it just doesn't feel like it should be this hard on my rig and for its looks it should maintain 60fps..

I will be pre-ordering this pronto regardless, when I locked my frame rate to 50 I was more than happy.

Had my first "Last Titan Standing" match. Damn that is fun. Feels really tactical if you go in with a good team. Need more!!

So it runs... okay... on my ancient PC:

Q6600, 4GB of ram, GTX 460

I turned down a few of the settings to get the texture quality up, since I couldn't quite deal with them on low detail.

I'm playing with a DS4, and so far in the training the controls felt excellent. I have yet to play an online match, but I will say in the sim running around as a pilot was immensely enjoyable while the titan combat felt like a more monotonous Mech Assault.

So far I wouldn't buy an Xbox One for this one game, nor would I upgrade my PC (mostly because I'm due for a full build refresh), but I am 100% on board for a PS4 Titanfall 2, provided MS doesn't lock it down.

Another of these replies. I don't know of what value this is supposed to be to me.

I tried turning off Shadowplay and completely exiting GeForce Experience and it's still freezing on map load then dropping the connection to the game.

Hey, could you PM me a dxdiag? I can't promise a fix for beta but we need all of these reports we can get.

I haven't really played a multi shooter ever, since I stay away from them cause I suck and am just very lazy. It's a fun game. Shotgun feels anemic.

Is your firewall holding it back? Since i gave it permission or your virusscanner.

Antivirus is disabled and my Windows firewall lets the game's data through. I strongly doubt it's either of those.

Sure. I'll send one now. Hopefully the format of the text doesn't get messy. If it does just let me know and I'll send the .txt file to you somehow.

anyone having connection issues?

I've tried about 6-7 times now and its the same issue. I enter the game lobby, and after the countdown the game loads, and the moment I select my pilot and titan, i get disconnected.

Went 10-2 and then 0-10 because I got put on a team with all 2s, and the other team was 14s. They going to fix out the balance?
Once the other team got Titans it was completely over.

PC version HD7850:-

Game is visually very disappointing. Awful textures in a lot of places, almost like they haven't loaded fully. I really don't understand why a next gen console would struggle with it.

It's most definitely COD with mechs, but it feels more akin to the quality of MW2 and MW1.
I can defnitely understand why people would be excited for it, but it all feels very familiar for some reason.

Another year in development and they could have had something special on their hands.

Just had a couple of games, easy to get into and start doing decent at. Much like COD in that way. Having awful server problems though having a Retrying Connection to Server pop up every so often even though my ping is sub 40. Just had the game crash there mid game. It's fun though, frantic and fun.

Game is fun as hell. Not much of a looker to be honest though, which makes the drops in performance that more baffling.
Regardless, I'm having a great time with it. I've become pretty beastly in a Titan.

The gameplay on Twitch is actually looking fun. Are there game modes where bots are completely excluded? They just look like fodder.

Played about two hours. Absolutely loving it. The speed of the game is great. And no technical issues on my end (though that could be because I have a powerful rig). All in all, I went from unsure about purchase to Day 1.

First impressions, hype goggles probably still on: everything in this game is so satisfying. Deaths aren't cheap, kills are earned, traversal and pilot vs pilot fights are amazing, titan vs titan battles a little less so, but still fun. My only worry is that it will eventually become boring, if not enough additional content is provided in the full version. But after playing the beta, in Respawn I trust.

This game is really ugly on PC. Damn.
I mean like really ugly. Textures are just damn ugly.

There is a snowballing effect also. I don't like it.

Agreed on graphics. Looks like it's from 2004 (hello Source engine) up close to shit. Luckily the game is pretty fun. Not the second coming of Christ, but I like it a lot more than CoD and Battlefield.

The game is such a blast. Came into work late since my beta key showed up this morning, and I just want to get home and play more of it.

Can someone explain to me how Smart Pistol is NOT considered OP and extremely unbalanced? It lets me mow down 3 bots within 1-2 seconds (whereas manually aiming would take longer) and enemy players are almost no match if you know how to handle the Smart Pistol. My early rounds were extremely frustrating due to enemy team being full of Smart Pistol players sniping on a roof.

Okay I got my first online game in... a few things:

I don't like the titan combat. The pilot feels like the next step in the COD shooter design, but the titan is so sluggish, and doesn't feel powerful.

Also I don't like the minions at all. I don't want to look at the scoreboard and see the majority of my kills being minions. That's not satisfying in the least. They don't add anything to the game... It doesn't make the battlefield feel like a war zone, and they certainly don't put up a challenge.

I'm not sure what to think, but I'm looking forward to having the time for a real marathon.

That would completely destroy it. Thats such a DICE way of balance.

Make it 4 locked on shots to kill.

I can accept this but it is still OP that way since you only have to hit the guy once which is not that hard. Well I'm not really against the weapon but I can easily see a huge outcry over it after the game is released.

Impressions so far: traversal is fun, shooting is 100% COD, the artstyle is hideous and is nearly killing it for me.

I have no idea where to post this but apparently #TitanFallPS4 is a thing.
I guess if this thing gets big it will at least prevent Microsoft from locking the sequel.

As someone who only really enjoyed the first two CoD games, I am pretty surprised at how much fun I am having with this. The movement is surprisingly good and the game just feel incredibly smooth and responsive. I have no idea why there are so few Source engine shooters. It just feels so good.

That said, there seems to be very little depth to the game. As fun as the movement is, it's also really easy to pull off. From the 7-8 matches I played, the gunplay does not seem to require a lot of skill either. Combine that with an ridicolous amount of screen clutter and really silly design decisions like autoaim weapons and burn cards and you get yet another shooter without any longevity.

The devs said in a video that it was a weapon designed for the people who were annoyed when they got the drop on someone and still lost the gun fight. Zampella said that they want a weapon old men like him can use or something.

If you get the drop on someone and still manage to loose the fight, you got outplayed and should be dead. Designing a weapon around players that don't like shooter mechanics seems pretty silly.
