Yeah. It's a sad, deflated face (left picture)....with a stream of tears coming down (right picture).

Basically it's this:

Thank you for the explanation.

Oh well ... It hurts more than it should :(

It's all right, everyone.

I can explain how this all makes sense:

The reason why The Last Guardian hasn't been shown again is actually quite simple. You see, it had to wait for Guardians of the Galaxy to be released this year, and for Halo 5: Guardians to make it's official grand entrance next year, before it will be revealed. It's not called The Last Guardian for nothing.

Of course this is all subject to no other media being released from now till the end of time with the word 'Guardian' in the title.

If you don't think too hard about it, this makes complete and total sense. So dry your eyes, wipe the snot dripping from your noses with a hankie and smile. Next year it's totally happening. Trust me. I can feel it n my bones.

Damn, makes perfect sense :)

I trust you!

Guardians of the Galaxy 2 is out in 2017...

At one point I kind of gave up on The Last Guardian, but I always held hope for it to be revealed at some point in my heart. Now, I'm expecting this game to be re-revealed at E3 2015. I have a feeling this game is going to be worth the wait when it comes out, and when I get it in my hands and play it, it will be glorious. However long it takes, I will wait patiently until the day Sony says it's officially cancelled.

Ha! All you assholes just give up hope, I don't care! Its just going to make it that much better when its finally revealed and I can rub it in each one of your faces! HA!

"Team Ico" employees have been jumping from project to project at SCE Japan Studio.

The same guys HAVE NOT been working on the same project for 7-8 years.

Fumito Ueda is the only "permanent" Team Ico member, and he stated in the interview I quoted above that he's working on other projects besides TLG.

Fumito Ueda doesn't even work for SCE any more. Outside of whatever contractual obligation he has to finish TLG (I believe he said that his creative work was "finished a long time ago"), he's off doing his own thing.

I honestly can't see "Team Ico" existing any longer. The main creative forces behind Ico and SotC have departed from Sony. Given that, and the fact that SCE has indeed on multiple occasions decided to prioritize other projects, I'm starting to think that (a) there's not a whole lot of faith in TLG and (b) there won't be another game in the "Icoverse".

I'm working under the assumption that the game is dead. There's no use in setting myself for disappointment, time and time again.

I was once capable of love for this game... But Sony has hardened my heart and robbed it of warmth. Now all I want to do is laugh at all the suffering.

Look at all you, holding on to your hope. I can feel your doubts and sadness. Let it flow through you. Become as I am. Join the dark side!

Yeah you don't know what you're talking about.

Fumito Ueda is still working on The Last Guardian. He's still looking over the project:

From a November 2013 interview:

Question: What did it feel like to leave a company where you had worked for so long?

"When I worked at SCE, I was on an annual contract, so it was not as much of a change as those around me might think. Recently, I’ve been working at my home office and often at SCE’s Shinagawa office in Tokyo."

Question: What are you working on now?

"The Last Guardian and the rest is secret. Outside of games, well, just for a hobby, I’d like to try my hand at art."

Team ICO still exists. They have been working on other projects on the offhand...for instance one of the artists of SoTC did some monster designs for Knack. The main creative forces behind ICO and SoTC are still there. Only two producers have left iirc.

It's not much, but we are bound to get some news next week (tentatively), due to processes with the USPTO. If we look at the trademark Sony Computer Entertainment America filed on August 9, 2012, we can see that the they are due to request another Extension of Time to File a Statement of Use. They have two more Extensions of Time to file an SOU left. The request has not yet been filed but ought to happen very soon. I'll report about it via separate thread when more information becomes available.

In this thread people lament their over inflated expectations. They announced an unprecedented amount of new content for a 1st party fan event in December. Why completely blow their load for the following year? Then, six months from now, there would be 2000 post threads about the PS4 having little-to-no AAA game announcements and yet another underwhelming E3 showing.

Now, if E3 comes and goes with no sight or sound of Last Guardian it still doesn't mean its dead, but feel free to start speculating.

I still don't believe its dead. It's obviously desired by people, and the initial concept and reveal was so amazing.

I can't believe they would just bury it. E3/TGS believe!

I'm worried if they eventually release this game it will show its age and feel very dated.

I think the only logical explanation as to why Sony hasn't showed it yet...is that they've completely restarted the project on the PS4 like two years ago.

So I don't think----if it ever comes out----it will be all that dated.

Yeah if this game ever crawls out of the grave it's going to look completely different from anything that was shown a couple decades ago
