Got a chance to meet Piper when I was 11 at a match in Macon, GA. I don't remember much, but he seemed like a nice guy.

I remember Piper way back when he did that WWF cartoon on Saturday mornings back in the late 80's.

He was one of the greatest wrestling personalities ever.

Considering the number of deaths attributable to drug/steroid abuse, I would say it's very shady.

I wouldn't say it's shady when it's fairly obvious as to why a lot of them die so young. It's reprehensible, but not shady at this point.

RIP. He will be missed.

I saw him at Comic-Con once signing things etc. A fan asked him to put him in a headlock for a photo. Roddy grabbed him and put a choke hold on him for real, the guy was turning purple! It was both brutal and awesome. The fan loved it! (once he could breathe again)

Oh my god this just hit me like brick to the face. Rest in peace Hot Rod. Condolences to his family and friends.

I get that but other sports are physical as well and are on the road yet football, hockey, rugby players have never seen anything like this.

Those are legit sports with heavy governmental regulations. And let's not forget football has destroyed many lives.

WWE does not consider itself a sport so it doesn't face the same scrutiny. Well, now it does. But back in the 80's and 90's, no way. Drug abuse was just part of your routine besides a select few.

RIP

For me, he was one of the best heel of all times along with Million dollar man Ted Dibiase. He should have won the Championship at least once.

Fuck cancer.

RIP Piper. :(

Edit: I'll echo what others are saying as him being the greatest heel of all time. I remember hating him as a kid. I wish I knew then what I know now so that I could have truly appreciated him in his prime. He was a master of his craft.
