TMZ: Kobe Bryant dies in helicopter crash

Eh I didn't personally like him. But there was more to it than just "being put on trial". Maybe you should look up what happened and judge his character for yourself instead of getting mad at me for not being sad because someone you liked died. But whatever I said I was gonna bounce.

You should be the one who goes and tells his kids that their father is dead, and you for one are glad...Don't forget to tell them #believewomen and piss on their lawn for good measure

How damn hard can it be to confirm whether his daughters were on board or not? This makes no sense. Sometimes I feel "journalism" in general is useless.

2020 is off to a terrible start. Rest in peace Kobe. :(
Him and Robin Williams are both popular figures that I have fond memories of during my formative years. RIP

Hard to believe, I grew up saying "Kobe" every time I threw up crazy shots in basketball. Watched his games and even after retirement I liked his basketball analysis videos.

Even though I never knew him personally, I just never expected to hear something like this so soon.

My heart goes out to his family and friends, and of those who also died in the crash.

Always smart to wait a few hours. News today is nothing but a game of telephone.
Exactly.

It goes to show the media is really just 100 different outlets getting a news bite from a single source or two, and they all run with it for clicks asap instead of trying to confirm the story themselves.

first, let's not start with the other site and the drama there. seems to have plenty of folks there who also just want to mourn Kobe's death.

second of all, don't start this shit here also please. if you want to, go make a new post about this and we'll avoid it when it happenes. this thread is for people who would like to pay respect to one of the greatest basketball player in our generation and the (not yet confirmed) death of his daughters.

I was having a bite with my dad at the moment when I saw the report and literally yell out "what the fuck!". me and my 70+ year old father are both fans of him and we've been to multiple victory parades of the Lakers back in the days. as someone living in LA he is an icon and and will remain a beloved figure for us.

RIP legend.

And I thought last year was the shit one. This one is off to a worse start.
I hate that the past 10 years were relatively peaceful... aside from nonstop political bickering. We don't know what's up ahead, and whether we'll regret wasting better days on our petty differences.

Reporters of the daughters still going back and forth. I'm not gonna post the tweets though I just think it's wrong until confirmation,
TMZ updated saying only one daughter so far.

This is devastating. He will always be remembered as the GOAT in my book. I feel for everyone related to this crash. The world just can't catch a break lately.

In situations like this one would be glad of ABC being "fake news". 5 people dying on accident is a tragedy no matter what, but kids being involved just makes it even worse imo.

Not a huge basketball fan, but this some really gutting stuff. No one deserves to die like this. Kobe seemed like a likable guy, and one of the best basketball players ever, easily. Really hoping the other people on that flight weren't his daughters and wife. Hell I wish there was no one in the helicopter period.

RIP Kobe, forever a legend. And RIP whoever else was in that helicopter; lives cut way too soon.

I don't know who this guy is. But I will always repeat my life mantra: "Never get in a fucking helicopter".
Even if you don't follow sports, how can you be on the Internet and nowtknow who Kobe Bryant is... He's basically the Michael Jordan of the 2000's

RIP

just goes to show you how flimsy & special life is. you can be on top of the world and have it all and it could go away in a flash. treasure each day. give thanks for the love you have.

It's gray as hell out here in LA, no sight of the sun. What an awful breaking. The streets must be choking, let alone the 10-East. I'm not even that far from Staples Center, 5 miles maybe.
