Tom Brady's Suspension Appeal News

That's the funniest thing about this. This is a minor technical regulation that no one in the NFL gave a shit about. No records were kept of ball PSI, and some officials even admitted to just squeezing the balls to see if they were OK. The NFL's own investigation got different PSI numbers when they measured the Patriots balls.

But hey, Goodell wants to make a bigger deal about a technical violation that was probably done unintentionally than players beating the shit out of their wives. Well, make a big deal about the Patriots committing a technical violation. Vikings tamper with the balls and no one cares.

What's odd about this is that the penalty is the same as if you beat your wife unconscious. What a lovely set of standards the NFL has. But seeing how shitty they treat their many retired players who have debilitating health problems, I don't expect much from the NFL.

Not odd

Makes sense if you actually take the time to think about it.

There is evidence, it's just all very circumstantial.

No, there is no evidence the balls were tampered with after being checked by the referee. We don't know what the pressure was for any ball at any point to any reasonable degree of accuracy. The NFL was unwilling to admit this and everything after has flowed from that. They never cared about these readings before and so no time was taken to record or even measure them accurately.

I am honestly curious what the NFL wanted with Brady's phone - did they want to see his communication with other NFL players, his family?

Just a fishing expedition. They had no strong evidence of a coverup, but they really, really wanted to find one.

Ha, what the fuck?

I'm just saying that the man that doesn't have the decency to wait until his wife is even lowered into the ground before parading around his mistress perhaps shouldn't be trusted in what he says to defend the integrity of his football team. I think it is fair that the NFL uses this as evidence against him and in determining the severity of the Patriots' punishment.

You realize Myrna Kraft died in 2011?

Kraft's statement on the matter:

https://soundcloud.com/bostonherald/robert-kraft-addresses-the-media-on-tom-brady-suspension

I am listening to it and an interesting comment by Kraft is that the Patriots handed over cellphones of every non-nflpa employee including head coach belichick.

I am honestly curious what the NFL wanted with Brady's phone - did they want to see his communication with other NFL players, his family?

What's to stop Kraft from now changing his mind about suing the league? Good to see that he now realizes what a complete moron he was when he decided to drop his threat to sue.

I should mine the salt in this thread and start selling it. I will become rich.

Patriots haters blaming Brady no matter what.
Patriots lovers defending Brady no matter what.
Goodell haters defending Brady because they hate Goodell.

So much salt. So much mining potential.

no. its. not.

one is something you do OUTSIDE of work which reflects poorly on the product.
one is something you do in the course of your job with reflects poorly on the product.

and most importantly, only one is handled by a legal system in which you can go to prison.

Bullshit. The penalty for a crime you can't even prove being on par with beating the living shit out of a woman should never be the same. The league is a fucking joke.

lmao stfu kraft

nobody said a word when the skins had 36 million dollars of cap space stolen simply for taking advantage of the uncapped year for a few scrub ass contracts

Are you kidding me? One has you GOING TO JAIL because of something you did outside of work. One is when they are ON THE JOB.

How do you not see the difference? If you get a speeding ticket do you also have to go tell your boss? wtf?

Is handing over a phone required according to the CBA?

I'm surprised people here think your personal phone can be off limits. I worked for the government and they had the right to open my car if they felt it was useful to an investigation.

Man, AT going in.

Good to see some true Bostonians finally willing to be honest and admit the truth:

Deal with it — Tom Brady and the Patriots are cheaters
Jesus christ Shaughnessy is a hack.

Don Yee released a statement and Brady didn't!

Brady put out a Facebook post before most people even read this article.

Then why did the Patriots suspend Jim McNally and John Jastremski?

Uhh, because they were caught stealing and selling merchandise?

At least do some basic research. Even if everything he's claiming was done by Brady was done, it still in no way justifies the punishment and doesn't even qualify as cheating. A millimeter of grip! Oh no!

It's not in the CBA. Also an investigation such as you're describing sounds criminal, not administrative.

Cool. Tom Brady doesn't work for the govt. Goodell has no right to go through his personal phone.

The government is a whole separate ball game in terms of this kind of stuff compared to private industry. They're the only employer allowed to polygraph, for example.

You're losing all your friends, Goodell.

As a Saints fan, I love that this guy's entire run as a commissioner has been a shit show of epic proportions. Please, oh please let that suspension get overturned. Not for Tom or the Pats, but only so it's one more blemish on Goodell's record.

As a neutral outside observer I want this as well. Plus the salt from the Brady haters will be hypertension inducing.

I don't think so. There was no evidence on the handlers phone linking him, so I don't see getting Brady's phone as anything but a fishing expedition.

And the whole thing was silly. This was a minor technical rule that even some officials said they didn't track. The NFL never kept records, and never took into account weather. Even some officials admitted to just doing "feel" checks. I think this was a rule no team took seriously and those "feel checks" were probably common. Heck, the NFL couldn't even measure the balls properly when they look at the Patriots balls, and got different PSI numbers.,

exactly.

and another thing I forgot to post yesterday. Its amazing to me a lot of the people in this thread are the same people that trash goodell and say the league sucks and mishandles just about every suspension, but when it comes to this one, your going to trust the league unequivocally?

Probably nothing is. He's just doing this for show to appease Pats fans that have been killing him recently. These are just empty words, he knows who butters his bread.

Probably not this year. As the Pats fan, the only thing that'll truly annoy me is that the Patriots were looking to have a down year this year and the story will likely be "Pats can't win without deflating footballs!"

They're going to have a very mediocre to below average defense, their running game is significantly depleted, and Miami, New York, and the Bills (as well as conference foes like the Colts) made solid improvements to their teams in the off season. 2015 - 2016 season will definitely not be as good as 2014 - 2015, but because it's the season after the DeflateGate stuff, brainless automatons will post "RINGS SINCE DEFLATEGATE: ZERO" and I can do nothing but eat it.

Such is the unfair lot in life for being a fan of the GOAT.

Oops I meant STILL won.

Best case scenario for Tom is that he gets an injunction and is allowed to play. They should stall everything to the point where if he does gets suspended it will be the last 4 games of season instead of first 4. Pats usually have that weak division won by week 13 anyways.

This is really dumb tho. Forcing him to give up his cell phone is kinda of a messed up thing to do. Like he is accused of murder or something. Goodell has gone way to far with this bs. He should resign as a commissioner.

Greg Hardy beats and chokes his girlfriend. Gets convicted of 2 counts of domestic assault in court and he is suspended for same amount of time as Brady (who most probably had knowledge of deflated balls). NFL has serious image problems. The most Brady should have been suspended for was 1 game. It was just a deflated ball in a game the Colts got wrecked in. The balls had nothing to do with that result.

Why? What do they possibly have to gain from finding a cover up?

It would justify them blowing up a minor of technical violation into the biggest fine in the history of the NFL.

The Patriots were issued a fine worse than a team got for putting out bounties on other players.

Tom Brady got a suspension worse than a guy who knocked out his wife.

And this is all due to circumstantial evidence.

exactly.

To all those who want to crucify Brady, let this sink in. You agree with Robert Goodell.

I have a hard time understanding why pats fans want to constantly compare punishments for off the field activities to a punishment for on field cheating that hurts the integrity of the whole game as a professional sport. They are very different. Deal with it.

Not exactly the same. Hardy missed the entire season last year being on the Commisoners Exemption List

Because deflecting blame by use of comparison is part of denial.

They're in denial that they've wasted money on Patriots jerseys and tickets for a cheating sham operation. They can't accept that they have been cheering for a cheater all these years. makes them feel liked they were duped.

So, rather than accept that, they make excuses.

The Patriots are cheaters. This is documented, on multiple occasions now, and is a permanent part of their history now.

Goddamn, the denial is so strong in here.

Had this been Peyton Manning or Joe Flacco, Patriot fans would be lighting pitchforks on fire.

I don't think the two compare. I personally think that Hardy's suspension should be vacated and that the NFL has no right to punish players for off the field incident, only the team should. Trying to punish players for off-field incidents is just such a murky area and only results in further attention and focused placed on the issue.

and Broncos/Colts/Raven fans would be here defending their player. Is it any surprise to you?
