All of this for refusing to admit they deflated a few balls ?
For all your analysis, you've gotten a very fundamental rule wrong here.
The home team does not provide footballs for both teams. Each team prepares footballs for their offense to use.
Regardless of whether the game is at home or on the road, the Patriots always prepare their own footballs for Brady to use in every game.
The rule that all footballs are provided by the home team was the rule prior to 2006 or so. It hasn't been that way for close to 10 years.

Just goes to show how strong willed Tom Brady is.

The Patriots equipment guy had balls for both teams with him. They, as the home team, are responsible for the balls during the game. That point was made in the report.
New rumors abound this morning as Mortensen's original source is alleged to be Mike Kensil, NFL VP of Game Operations.
Supposedly Kensil lied to Mortensen about the original issue with the deflated balls in order to set an agenda against the Patriots. Part of this could be influenced by salt towards Bill from years ago when they were both working for the NY Jets.
Crazy shit.
Unless I hear Dennis come out with some evidence to the Kensil accusation he's no better than what Mortensen did months ago. Did he say anything about how he knows that?
Awww he wussed out? ESPN gotta ride that NFL dick.
Aside from Mortensen directly telling one of the DJs at WEEI before backing out of his scheduled interview, that's as much as we know.
Kensil was also the person who went up to Bill during one of the games last year after the deflated balls issue had been raised and said "...you're in big fucking trouble."
Nobody went to Bill, they went to one of the equipment dudes during the AFC game.
This revelation is pretty damning to a degree, kinda gives some fuel to the idea that there are people in the NFL who are specifically going after the Pats and to do major damage to their image.

I think something has to be proven to be fact before you can declare it to be a revelation.
Not that I'm doubting that Boston sports talk radio was able to break open the league/media conspiracy against the New England Patriots (Super Bowl Champions).
Paragraph 111 of the 54-page lawsuit filed Wednesday by the NFLPA elaborates on a point briefly addressed in the ruling from Commissioner Roger Goodell upholding the Brady discipline. In 2009, the NFL suspended a member of the Jets’ equipment for attempting “to use unapproved equipment to prep the K[icking] Balls” before a game against the Patriots.
As the NFLPA points out, the NFL did not investigate or discipline the Jets kicker for “general awareness” or specific involvement, even though the Jets kicker (like Brady in this case) was the player most likely to benefit from the behavior and, in turn, the player most likely to be aware of the conduct.
Nobody has ever used that standard to support claims in this entire case, now because something goes with the Pats we have to go, "Now hold on guys!"?
Na son
More shit. Jets equipment manager used illegal equipment to prep kicking balls in 2009 game against Pats.
NFLPA has a perfect parallel case
That jumped out at me when i was skim reading the NFLPA petition. The parallels to deflategate are eerily similar, yet the response is drastically different.
"You guys made a mistake by drumming up business for the show and how I would address my reporting for the first time,” Mortensen informed WEEI. “I will not allow WEEI, [Patriots owner Robert] Kraft or anybody to make me the centerpiece of a story that has been misreported far beyond anything I did in the first 48 hours. Maybe when the lawsuit is settled, in Brady’s favor, I hope, we can revisit. Don’t call."
Chris Mortensen was suppose to appear on WEEI this morning, but canceled. This quote from his is pretty telling to me...
Article here
Mortensen first reported that 11 of the 12 balls were under inflated, which was false information, but nevertheless largely sparked this whole controversy.

Could some fill me in on what Mortenson got wrong? I'm a Pats fan, it's been a crazy 6 months. I thought around 11 were under inflated.
Well, if you can't beat 'em, sink to their level I guess.
Mortenson ran the initial story about the, "11 out of 12 balls found to be 2PSI under legal limit".
Today it was discovered Mortensons source was Mike Kensil, who is the NFL VP of Game Operations, and just so happened to also be a past New York Jets executive.
So instead of talking about it, he's backing out and going silent.
Rumor is he let someone at the station know who it was. Mike Kensil, NFL VP of Game Operations is the name being mentioned, which could potentially change the perception. We'll see if there's anything to it. If there is I imagine it will become part of the suit.
Feels like things might be coming around, slowly.
I'm ready for some Hard Knocks. When does that start? Gotta re-up my HBO Now subscription.
Rumored, I doubt Mort will ever officially give him up - he's probably too valuable of a source. Is the Kenisl leak confirmed or just rumored?

Mortenson hasn't denied it, and WEEI ,while a homer station, doesn't really run with bullshit and is the top sports station next to Sports Hub.
Sports Hub is by far the homer station, especially for the Patriots. They just run with more sensational personalities for ratings which works well in this business.
I mean, Gresh and Beatle are homer, but Felger and Mazz are by far the most negitive show for any station in the area.
I've moved back to EEI from The Sports Hub. I can appreciate some negativity for some fun but Felger and Mazz were too much. In championship seasons those guys can still complain for 4 straight hours. I also liked Beatle as a third wheel but don't like his show as the host. I do miss Zo's energy though.
Now that we know it was someone in the NFL office doing the major leaking, lets think about how this effected everything?
I mean, if Brady saw the news that, "11 balls were under 2 PSI legal limit", couldn't that explain why he probably freaked out and talked to the equipment dude in the QB room the day after? Don't you think he was most likely going, "Dude, wtf did you do to those balls!?".
Maybe that explains the level of panic going around if the Patriots thought the balls were legit 2 PSI under limit. Then the report comes out and it turns out it's on average around ~.5 psi difference between the two gauges and the legal limit.
Opposing opinions are important, which is why I like Felger and Mazz. I don't agree with them on everything, but good radio is saying something that can be argued from both sides.

Mornings: D&C
Mid-Day: ...hate everyone right now.
Afternoon: Dale and Holley.
It's not that Felger has different opinions, he is just bait and switch. Mazz used to be a bit more diverse, like mentioned he just regurgitates whatever Felger is saying.
Question: Have you ever caught yourself driving at home thinking, 'I'd love to win every game this year by 50 points and stick it to this commissioner and this league'?
"Right now I'm really focused on what we're doing today," Belichick said. "I'm not thinking about the past, not last week, not last year, not some other year. We have to prepare our team for the opener for a 16-game regular season schedule. We really can't do much of that right now. Now is the time to work, so I'm not really going to worry about next month, next year, six months from now.
"I know that's really important to everybody else, but it's really not very important to me and I don't think it's very important to our football team. So with all due respect, it's not really something I think about or I care about. Even though that seems to be really important to everybody else, it's just not on our radar."
D&C are horrible. Way too political and shit on absolute anyone who has a slightly different opinion on them.
