Tom Brady's Suspension Appeal News

I'm a Patriots fan and I agree with all of that, but I also think the behavior and comments of Brady and Kraft at every turn escalated the situation rather than defusing it. You can say everything you've said and still think Brady's side handled it less than optimally.

Kraft tried to de-escalate everything and it just blew up in his face. Fuck the behavior of the league. But mostly fuck the NFLPA for agreeing to allow the commissioner of the league to be the final voice in all player discipline arbitration.

Again, the NFLPA is arguing that the league is not abiding by the CBA. Blaming this on the bargaining agreement is wrong.

It's really incredible where we are now, and both sides are to blame. Not equally in my opinion, but it's an incredible display of ego and stubbornness.

If Brady was innocent, which obviously I don't believe, then he'd be absolutely right to appeal and bitch about it. If he's guilty then the league is absolutely doing the right thing. One of the parties is incorrect so logically only one side is to blame no matter how you slice it.

I'd argue even if he was guilty the league is out of line with the punishment with how the penalties are defined in the rules and how ball tampering or obstruction have been handled historically.

And how the league has, at best, misrepresented publicly the various interviews and testimonies of those on Brady's side.

That's a fair point in that context but the league should be cracking heads, obviously spousal abuse and PEDs first but cheating shouldn't be soft soaped either, which I think might be something we can all agree on.

Only thing Brady and the Patriots seem to be guilty of is getting totally routed on the PR game.

Reporter during Toms first press conference: "Tom Brady are you a scumbag cheater (paraphrasing)?"

Dirty lying cheater: "I don't believe so".

Definitely how an innocent man answers a question that questions his credibility as an athlete and man. The correct answer is no and go fuck your mother. I don't believe so? In the words of the great Chris Carter "CMON MAN!"

I am sure the Pats fans will have a spin for that disastrous press conference but he came off as weak and with something to hide. It was all downhill from there....

Luckily he can afford a good PR team and lawyers who can put forth a better story and defense than he could come up with himself.

Gotta remember at the time the news circulating was that 11 of the 12 balls were 2 psi under.(information the NFL knew was wrong but didn't correct). His vagueness could have been just pure confusion.

It's telling that you have to cling to such thin, meaningless nonsense.

That makes sense.

The question are you a cheater is a little vague and one might need a little more information and research before you could confidently answer it.

As a pats fan, I do have a spin for that...

Brady's pre-Super Bowl presser, if he did or didn't cheat was to ensure that he would get to play in the Super Bowl. If he comes out and says "Fuck you and fuck your mother" or "Yes, I cheated, I do everything to get ahead" as people who hate Brady wished he said, then he likely would not have gotten to play in the 6th biggest game of his career. 13 days before the Super Bowl, that was a lot more important then the answer that you wished he would have given.

And, subsequently, he orchestrated the greatest comeback in Super Bowl history.

That's not great spin...

At least admit that was a really weird phrasing. Because eventually someone is gonna resurrect this thread for crow and we should all be able to at least stand by our logic. You also don't think it is weird that he ordered a flunky to destroy his phone that day. That particular day.

Trying to gather meaning from phrasing or how someone speaks is dumb. Either there's evidence or there isn't. In this case there isn't. If all you have to rely on is "hmmmm weird!" then you have nothing.

Lets test this.

You ask me some of the following questions:

Bionic is it that your mother is a dirty whore who can be bought for a quarter?
Is it true you are an active member of ISIS?
Do you put mayonnaise on your french fries?

Isn't it weird if I answer that "I don't believe so" instead of "no go fuck yourself"?

Gathering meaning from how someone speaks is how humans have communicated for tens of thousands of years. Ignoring the manner in which they communicate and using only the literal meaning of the words is how robots cause warp accidents.

I don't care one iota if your response is weird. It will not actually make any of those true or untrue and won't magically create evidence supporting either state.

See above.

And just to add, these types of bullshit arguments are what's left after all the supposed actual evidence has been eviscerated. It's hilarious.

If you imagine you need to be his lawyer to be unimpressed by such complete garbage I don't really know what to say. It's pathetic.

I'm not impressed by it, I find it astonishing that he ordered someone to destroy his phone that particular day and that he answered what should be an insulting question with a noncommittal tightrope phrase.

Weird how most people outside of New England were convinced by it...

I guess our standards for the truth as just not as lofty as New England Patriots fans. You are probably still in denial over Spygate.

All entirely meaningless in the face of not only a lack of evidence of wrongdoing, but actual evidence of no wrongdoing.

Most people convinced by it wanted to be convinced by it. Because sports.

Also, not a Pats fan.

Funny how you exclude the most damning piece in your link. Which also points out the outlier (z-score of 2.70, which outliers typically fall in the range of less than -2.68 to greater than 2.68). Pats Z-Score of 2.70 nails that criteria to a T. They are on the extreme end of the curve.

Total Offense, Pats using their own doctored balls:

Using K Balls:

If the Pats are so good at not losing the ball, then why when they switch to K Balls their stats fall through the floor and are inline with the rest of the league?

E: Also before someone points out but what about ATL aren't they outliers too? By definition yes, however their fumble stats are actually reflective in both categories both with and without K-Balls. K-Balls being the outlier in that case.

Explain IND then, they drop from 3rd to 28th. IND also using deflated balls confirmed.

I assumed Brady didn't know at that press conference if balls had been tampered with, and that's why he used weak language. He didn't want to be punished for lying as well, if it came to that.

Since then, he's learned his equipment team did nothing wrong so he's been stronger in his denials.

Also, who cares? He's always stood by his innocence.

I don't believe so is not a denial of being a cheater. If he was worried that someone on his team was cheating and wanted to protect himself he could have said that he has never cheated on anything in his life. If asked if he knew of anyone else cheating he could have used the language his lawyers obviously fed him that he did not believe so, leaving him some wiggle room. The only plausible explanation I can think of is that he did not know of ball deflation, that the ball boys were doing it on their own and he was worried that they would take some deal and place the blame on him to get a lesser sentence. Not plausible to me at least.

Thats a Clintonesque answer.

Also Giggle you should know better. JGar and Cool Joe are shaking their heads in disgust at you.

Brady did, under oath at his appeal, state that he did not order anyone to deflate footballs after he had inspected them.

So either you believe Brady or you don't.

Regardless if he is guilty or not the punishment is ridiculous given their prior rulings and should be overturned by that metric alone. The nfl is going to lose this court case due to that I believe.

Isn't it weird if I answer that "I don't believe so" instead of "no go fuck yourself"?

Uhhh, I don't think it's that weird, honestly.

I mean, "I don't believe so" still means "no". He's an adult who's been conditioned through years and years of very public interviews to just give answers to questions when required and not get too emotional either way.

Do you think it's weird when a reporter asks him why he threw a big interception and he doesn't blow up in their face?

I still have not heard an explanation as to why 3 of the 4 Colt balls that were tested were found to be underinflated by the people who say Brady is guilty.

So you're saying Clinton should have been impeached as well? Cum stains and deflated balls, I guess there's an equivalency there somewhere.

AlbertBreer: According to a source, settlement talks yesterday b/w the NFL and NFLPA on Brady went nowhere. Admission-of-guilt remains a stumbling block.

Many pats fans in this thread have literally denied spygate.

Basically Lance Armstrong fans at this point, who never actually admitted they were wrong about him, btw. They just went quiet.
