Tom Clancy's The Division - Ubisoft + Massive, MMO Open World TPS RPG

Division looks amazing. I like the HUD.

Is it just me or do both vids in OP go to The Crew trailers?

Have they even confirmed no PC release? The game probably won't be out until late 2014 at the earliest anyway. I would be shocked if it doesn't go to PC. This game would sell on there as that genre is pretty popular on PC. Ubisoft releases pretty much all their games on PC so I don't see why they would exclude an AAA project like this. Secondly, consoles are on similar architecture now so it makes even less sense.

Gotta be coming to PC. I hope. Same thing with MGS5. How the hell could that not be on PC? Freaking Japanese devs.

It's basically just a PM reminder at this point so I know who is interested. I will formally create something substantial when Division comes close to release. This game seems like the ultimate team experience

Man if the entire city is explorable and scavangeable, I will shit bricks. This game is goddamned mindblowing visually. The texture work... holy shit.

RECRUITING: Members for the future NeoGAF PS4 THE DIVISION team. All out, no spammers, no pussies. Mic required. Let's do this on day one! (PS4 version only, other platforms need not apply). ;)

*signs up*

I was seriously under the impression during the demo presented at the Ubi show that these were just AI teammates and that the banter between them was INCREDIBLE.

Then I learned it was real people "acting" like they were playing the game and I got a bit let-down by that.

I'd definitely be up for a Eurotrash division, those American timezones doesn't jive with me :P

It's ok, we can set up different divisions underneath the NeoGAF crew to also sync up timezones with those in our group.

So when we get down to it, I'll appoint a leader for European countries, for Asian countries and for North/South American countries, and they can organize with their subgroups based on who is available in their time zone (jumping in and out of play seems really convenient in THE DIVISION as well, so should be simple)

we are not ruling out any platforms for the future.
We are optimizing the experience for next gen consoles (PS4 and Xbox One), as we are creating a next-gen game. However, we are not ruling out any platforms for the future.

they dont have it in the plans at the moment, but they say if theres enough interest...

Haha, I always fall in the middle of this. Usually, I want a disciplined team who knows when it is time to really play. But, I also want a team that is fun-loving, forgiving and with a great sense of humour. Me and my Left 4 Dead crew were deadly serious when we wanted to, but we all became fast friends joking around together as well.

My ghost recon group would joke around, but it was always very tight and team focused.

I get tired of playing shooters with people who don't understand the basics of how to enter/breach a doorway or peel off properly...

I mean there are dozens and dozens of vids on youtube that teach bounding overwatch, threat assessment, how to "pie" a doorway, tactics for mid range engagements, etc...

Like I said, it's not everyone's cup of tea but I'm getting so tired of these modern shooters and getting shot in the back constantly because your squad is not thinking about team play. I might be wrong about this game, but it looks like a situation with the small four-man squads where you could have a really well-oiled group. I certainly miss that from the old days.

EU also here.

But damn i have seen the gameplay from gamershyde in 60fps and looked absolutly amazing.

Yeah well maybe I will just assemble a team of crack PC version-only gaffers to annihi.....ooooh hold on I just need to screenshot that wall texture....just hold on a minute....

Let's fuck some shit up.

Somehow, I got a pass to a special showing of this game at E3 today, where they played a live demo in a different part of New York. Some thoughts, if anyone is interested:

- The animations look unfinished. For example, there was no special animation for walking up stairs, just the standard running one.

-There was some minor, but noticeable, pop-in.

-The draw distance seemed lower, but that might have just been the in-game weather.

-Besides those issues, the graphics looked just as good as on the stage demo.

-During the demo, two players were shooting at a squad of NPCs, while a player was controlling a UAV overhead with a tablet.

-Seemed very MMOy, and there were cooldown powers. For example, one of the players used some sort of 'health boost' which boosted the health of both himself and his companion.

That's all I can remember of the demo right now. Game looks early, but also looks very, very good.

That pretty much confirms it's going to PC then. It makes less financial sense to exclude a PC version anyway. The game can't be cheap to make and they're going to make money off the PC version regardless of what anyone thinks. Big projects like this aren't going to cut the PC community out. They want all the $$$ they can get. Common sense. I'm willing to bet MGS5 will be on PC too as they're porting the crappy MGR over now. Probably to expose PC gamers in preparation for MGS5. Sometimes they do not announce the PC version alongside consoles. Might come out 3 months after PS4/Xbone.

I can't wait to cut together cood vids (thanks to PS4 share) of tense encounters from four different perspectives... should be really easy.

Hopefully they'll consider a PC version. I'm sure Ubisoft is aware of how successful Day Z is. A big budget open world survival game would definitely sell.

We can make a screenshot division and be that famous group which stares at walls and still be level 1 even 8 months after release.

Haha, but since it's not announced for PC yet, I can't set up anything for that version... or is this the joke? ;)

Yeah, it's so crazy. Cant wait to play with some of my Euro brothers and sisters if we can sync things up properly. Gonna be rad.

On the list.

I understand. For me, it's more important to know WHEN it's time to be serious than it is to just be super hardcore all the time. For example, with my Left 4 Dead crew, we always knew when a team we were playing was no competition, and we'd fuck around a lot on those occasions. Have a blast. But we also knew when things were getting serious, and we'd start playing how we called "Commando" to become a perfect team unit. Because of this, we literally have hardly lost even a single match of Left 4 Dead.

I think the other extreme where you're SO strict you start yelling at people for mistakes or for not being absolutely perfect with the execution of their part of the plan, it gets to be more of a chore than a game.

Not officially confirmed for PC. Their comment was focusing on Next-Gen consoles, but not ruling out a PC release yet.

The odd thing is this is rumored to be F2P as well.

The visual fidelity, MMO, and F2P, the PC would seem like a perfect fit.

I'm shy to talk on the mic in multi-player games.

That's hard. I was that way at first on XBL and PC, but I got comfortable. It really is more important to enjoy WHO you're playing with, because that's the first step in getting comfortable.

Obviously it's fine to not use a mic in multiplayer if you want, but for a heavy team based objective based game like this, it's almost essential to be able to coordinate with your team in detail, which is going to require a mic I think...

Good to hear that it's real.

You say the animations looked unfinished... Were the ones that were finished as smooth and polished as what we saw at the press conference? For example, did you see other examples of things like the brushing the car door shut and the movement in general looking so planted and grounded (other than the stairs thing)?

it looks nice and interessting. i liked the setting and the presentation.
It's a pitty its online only.

Sign me up! This seems right up my alley. Plus I'm one of the more mature, yet humorous, online players you'll meet, lol.

Individual animation was fine, but transitions were pretty janky. I didn't see anything that seemed 'off the cuff', like the car door, but that might have been because there wasn't any opportunity for that kind of stuff. So, no, I would say the animation wasn't as smooth. But like I said earlier, the game was still really early.

It looks really interesting and I like the collecting materials aspect. It just seems that every game takes place in post america game and every ubisoft game looks the same to me (besides rayman)

It shows how Ubi is doing minimal UI and only showing what is important. Same thing there doing now with Watch Dogs and Future Soldier at that time. The atmosphere sucked me right in though from that gameplay. Love crazy details in everyting.

Heyooooo!!!

I'm down for the 'merica divison. I was sad to not see R6 Patriots at E3, but then this happened. It tickled my fancy.

OMG how have I not seen this thread! I need to spend some more time on the forums here :lol Count me IN, baby. This game is going to be absolutely incredible.

I'm in! Put me down for the bait division. You want someone to run in guns blazing without regard for their own safety, I'm your guy. Or if you have the patience to bear with me as I learn real tactics, that would be cool too.
