Tom DeLay can't stay out of trouble

The wife and daughter of Tom DeLay, the House majority leader, have been paid more than $500,000 since 2001 by Mr. DeLay's political action and campaign committees, according to a detailed review of disclosure statements filed with the Federal Election Commission and separate fund-raising records in Mr. DeLay's home state, Texas.

Washington Post

A six-day trip to Moscow in 1997 by then-House Majority Whip Tom DeLay (R-Tex.) was underwritten by business interests lobbying in support of the Russian government, according to four people with firsthand knowledge of the trip arrangements.

DeLay reported that the trip was sponsored by a Washington-based nonprofit organization. But interviews with those involved in planning DeLay's trip say the expenses were covered by a mysterious company registered in the Bahamas that also paid for an intensive $440,000 lobbying campaign.

DeLay should be the face of every single Democrat ad in 2006 for the midterm elections, and 2008 if by some alignment of the stars he's still working in Congress.

DeLay is going down. It's not a question of if but when. The real question is whether he will go gracefully like Newt, Dick Armey and even Nixon or if he will be dragged kicking and screaming from the House chamber and thrown into jail. I can hope for the latter...

Here in Texas, the DeLay camp is shocked that his approval rating is currently the lowest it has ever been.

How did Newt leave Congress anyways?

McAuliffe: Hey! We found the entirety our '06 campaign angle!

A lonely man. He's learned from his mistakes, though; but can only use that knowledge to caution Republicans now, cuz there ain't no way he's getting elected office again, (the think tank and lecture circuit swag eases the pain, I'd guess).

Except for that whole "handing divorce papers to his wife while she was on her deathbed from cancer"...thing.
