Everyone in Middle School did. What's my Age Again? was over played to shit. I remember they over played this album at all the school dances as well. Then again this was the same era where Limp Bizkit, Linkin Park and Nickleback had just started to blow up lol

IMO self-titled is actually pretty damn great. Has some of their most progressive writing. New album was jarring because you could tell it was the band writing their own solo stuff and trying to put it together under the band.

So it felt jarring and not cohesive.

IMO Take off Your Pants and Jacket was the superior album. Also self-titled is actually pretty damn great. Has some of their most progressive writing. New album was jarring because you could tell it was the band writing their own solo stuff and trying to put it together under the band.

TOYPJ sounds so fake to me. It sounds like they are pretending to be teenagers but are two 30 year old married dudes. Musically is weak too but the lyrics just kill me.

Enema is a pretty perfect pop-punk record so there was no way they could top that when trying to do another pop-punk one.

The Untitled is probably on another level. Such a great album.

Maybe. But the music is better overall IMO They became much tighter musicians and I liked the production of that album a lot.

*shrugs*

EDIT: Oh you disagree with that too. This is why I don't like saying x thing is better. Hah, I never have it in me to debate this stuff. I'll edit my post out as I want the other stuff in the post to be the focus and not whether x album is better. :p

They're both amazing albums. Fun, anthem styled songs that you could just sing along to on any car ride with a bunch of friends.

I remember in high school I used to blow people away by telling them that "Take Off Your Pants and Jacket" had a double entendre sexual meaning. "Jacket" was supposed to be "Jack it".

Mark and Tom always seem so weird around each other. Went to one of their post-back together concerts a few years ago and they almost seemed uncomfortable when making jokes with each other.

I could have just been reading into it too much, I don't know. This lack of communication stuff definitely doesn't help.

If you read the history of how Tom broke up the band, the dude became a total control freak asshole, completely alienating everyone in the band and treating them like co-workers rather than friends.

Doesn't surprise me at all if their relationship was still strained. Some of the shit he pulled was ridiculous (he would tell the bandmates they could reach him through his manager, and he stopped taking their direct calls. He would have them set up band sessions with his manager first). IMO he was always jealous of Mark and his ego kept growing and growing, to the point he felt he could be better off without them (and should be his own artist).

They then buried the hatchet and had the reunion. Which was great. But I imagine the bad blood/history was always still a sore spot that hung over in the back. I don't blame Mark for having resentment for what Tom did.

Okay wtf, so now Tom is saying he didn't quit. This shit is getting awkward. I kind of find it hard to believe, that they will patch it up and get past this. If they have shit like this going on, clearly the band isn't happy with him and vice versa. When you got them discussing their issues out in public (because they can't communicate) then something is clearly wrong with the situation/working relations.

LOL oh well.

I honestly hope Tom is gone. It was obvious with their most recent work how goddamn divided Tom and Mark were creatively. Let Tom spend time making AVA good again and then Travis and Mark can basically turn blink-182 into a punkier +44. Everyone wins!

+44 was so goddamn fantastic, please start making more music like that, guys.

I was never a fan of Blink 182 but I ended up with a Tom DeLonge signature series guitar because my brother bought it for cheap and didn't like it. I've had it for close to ten years now thinking Tom was the other guy the whole time! My last decade has been a lie.

It's fine if we disagree ahah

I think they tried to more interesting stuff in TOYPAJ but I mostly felt they missed the mark. The production is top notch because Jerry Finn was amazing.

These guys were a fun band back in the day. Neighborhoods was a mixed bag and sounded exactly like the band's situation - the awkward moment after you get back together with your mates from way back and have run out of topics to reminisce about and have to actually talk about something new.

I do enjoy some Angels & Airwaves but can't listen to it in large chunks, the songs all become repetitive as hell.

A shame it had to go to shit like it did, but I guess it isn't 2002 anymore.

Travis is pretty overrated honestly.

confirmed for most factually wrong post on NeoGAF ever

man Tom is just awful. I was pissed enough when I saw them post-reunion and they played the self-titled record almost completely and didn't even play Josie. And I got rear ended on the way to that show.

His response sounds logical. The dude is involved with Modlife, Macbeth, Poet Anderson (which just won some awards), AVA's new album and touring for that.

Meanwhile what is Mark doing?

I recall seeing Blink 182 when they reformed and starting touring back in 2010. Tom was half-assing throughout the entire set not even bothering to sing (out of key/just read the lyrics) during some songs. He just seems disconnected compared to the other two. It comes as no surprise that he's lost interest with the band now because it certained looked like it back then.

This is probably what happens when you and your band mates communicate via lawyers and managers. They should hire that same psychiatric coach that Metallica hired. And make an equally ridiculous movie about it.

These guys need to get the fuck over it, shake hands, tell each other "I love you, man" and go back to making fun music. I actually enjoyed Neighborhoods and the EP a lot.
