SUMMARY:

Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater HD is the best elements of THPS 1 and 2, upgraded for today. The game returns to the earlier style of gameplay from the first two games. As such,
additions made to the gameplay mechanics since Tony Hawk's Pro Skater 3 onwards, such as reverts, are not included. Instead, players must rely on tricks, grinds & manuals
in order to pull off combos. Many of the classic objectives return, such as getting high scoring runs, collecting SKATE letters and finding hidden DVDs (which replace the tapes
from the original games) within each level. The selection of skaters will consist of classic skaters such as Tony Hawk & Rodney Mullen, as well as modern skaters like Riley Hawk.

DLC:

Activision confirmed there will be a $5 DLC arriving roughly a month after the launch of Tony Hawk's Pro Skater HD. Included will be three levels from THPS3, several more skate
pros and the pack will bring back the revert - a kind of bridge move introduced in Tony Hawk's Pro Skater 3 that allows players to chain together combos they couldn't otherwise in
previous games. Revert will only work within the DLC, and will not be a compatible mechanic in the core Tony Hawk's Pro Skater HD game because reverts were introduced in
THPS3 and the levels were designed accordingly. Airport will be one of the three THPS3 levels to make the cut in the DLC

Also, the official facebook page (which acts like the game's official website) says the following

Platforms Supported

Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3. Those awaiting a PC version may be pleasantly surprised! But not confirmed yet
.

Will the game be coming to PC/iPhone/iPad/3DS?
There are no plans at the moment to bring the game to these systems, but things could change!

I think Activision will want to cash in and get this to as many platforms as possible.

A delayed PC release like Amazing Spiderman is likely, and an iOS release seems like a no brainer.

Tucah

you speak so well
Finally, some THPS I can get behind. Day 1 (but maybe later because I think I'm going PSN)

So here I am, doing everything I can
Holding on to what I am. pretending I'm a superman

I'm trying to keep
The ground on my feet
It seems the world's
Falling down around me

The nights are all long, I'm singing this song
To try and make the answers, more than maybe

And I'm so confused, about what to do
Sometimes I want to throw it all away

So here I am, growing older all the time
Looking older all the time, feeling younger in my mind

So here I am, doing everything I can
Holding on to what I am. pretending I'm a superman

I'm trying to sleep, I lost count of the sheep
My mind is racing faster every minute

What could I do more
Yeah I'm really not sure
I know I'm running circles
But I can't quit

And I'm so confused about what to do
Sometimes I want to throw it all away

Controlling everything in site
I'm feeling weak
I don't feel right
You're telling me
I have to change
Telling me to act my age
But if all that I can do
Is just sit and watch time go
Then I'll have to say good-bye
Life's too short to watch it fly
To watch it fly

So here I am, growing older all the time
Looking older all the time, feeling younger in my mind

So here I am, doing everything I can
Holding on to what I am. pretending I'm a superman

One week to go! :D Loved the first three Tony Hawk games and felt the rest got worse as it went on, so having those classics stages in HD is something I'm really hyped to see and play.

What, no Horse mode? That was the only thing my friends and I spent countless hours with!
Also, "Lyn-Z Hawkins Pastrana" is a name apparently.
Edit: The actual name is even longer! This is pretty weird/awesome.

jon bones

hot hot hanuman-on-man action
day one. cool that they put in some of the new younger skaters along with the old pros. wonder what special tricks ortiz p rod huston etc do

Why does it say Players: 1?

There's no split screen?!?!?!!

I'm so goddamn excited for this game! It's scary how pumped I am to play this stuff again even when I have been going back to PS1-3 in anticipation. Really interested to see how the "probjectives" pan out. Could potentially add a LOT of content and make us look at these classic levels in all new ways. AHADHFHAF HYPE.

I got super excited mainly because on the XBOX img, it looks like July 10th if you've been staring at the screen all day like I have...

This sounds like a goddamn mess of a design decision right here.

Can not wait.

All I used to do was sit and play Tony Hawk 3 on Xbox at Uni.

I used to be AMAZING, the years will not have been good.

Awesome OP, I clicked there first and i was instantly Hyped.

Haven't been following any info on this, but it's definitely on my radar. TH games on PS1/2 provided me with some quality fun back in the day.

How are the previews? Positive?

How so? I'm pretty happy they do it this way.
Fragmenting your moveset over levels is just dumb. Score-based games require the moveset to become second nature. Having a changing moveset, and something so basic as a revert being the changing factor, doesn't help this.

I'm sure people will learn to adapt and all; it's just really inelegant.

My THPS3 playlist is just gonna be Blitzkrieg Bop and Ace of Spades.

That's how I played it back in the day, and THAT'S HOW I'LL PLAY IT NOW

Just got THPS2 for dreamcast in the mail yesterday. Ah, the memories!

Will probably pick this up on psn when it... DROPS IN!

Edit: WHAT?! No Bob Burnquist?!
I might have to reconsider...

THPS/THPS2 levels were designed without it, so it probably would just break those levels.

I see no other way, honestly.

i'm good with this actually. the THPS3 levels and goals are designed for reverts existing, the THPS 1 + 2 levels were not. i mean, THPS 1 levels weren't designed with manuals either, but as someone that didn't get into the series until THPS2 on PC i've never played the THPS1 levels without manuals, so hypocritical as it may be, i'm glad the manual works on any map :)

Is it just the people playing or does this game look much slower than THPS 3 & 2? Like, I've played 3 recently and you fucking BOLT when you hold down X. This looks more like Skate speed than THPS

Danny Dudekisser

I paid good money for this Dynex!
I'm tired of companies just dangling a potential PC version in front of people instead of just fucking telling us what's happening.

So I won't be buying this until they actually say something definitive.

...but I'm gonna be tempted and will probably do it anyway.

Oh man, I can't wait to play these games again. But I have the patience to wait on that PC version they hinted at, so I'll hold off for now.

I was
- Amongst the Madness
- The Boy Who Destroyed The World
- Blitzkrig Bop
- Lets Get Dirty
- Ace of Spades

+ loads of similar stuff from the Xbox Harddrive on custom Soundtrack.

Yup, what diffusionx said. THPS3 levels werd designed with the revert in mind, so you could pull of a never ending combo in theory. If you played the three games back in the day you shouldn't have a problem to remember which stages are from the third game and have revert included.
For newcomers it might be confusing, I give you that.
