Akira was entirely animated by hand right?

All 160,000+ cells. Some of the backgrounds took weeks to paint and appear on screen for just a few seconds. That's why the animation is considered landmark and still holds up.

It was well animate, but that movie had a ton of problems, most of which I won't go into here. It's not a bad movie, but it is the worst of the 3.
