Yeah, the second movie is fantastic. Most of the changes from the TV version actually improved an already amazing finale. Sucks that it never got a dub.

The first movie is pretty useless outside of a couple new scenes.

I can see where grandjedi is coming from. Killing characters that viewers dont care about but other characters do to invoke the literal raw emotion needed for Simon to 'power up' creates a dissonance.
