Toonami is BACK

Yuck at Bleach. An anime that has already had too much airtime in the US.

To those suggesting Hajime No Ippo. I love you.

Was the "meh" a joke? That's six hours, isn't that the longest a Toonami block's been on?

I think the 'meh' was aimed that it's in the middle of the night. Also, the block is seemingly 3 hours repeated.

I heard somewhere that Bleach actually gets decent ratings for AS so it wouldn't go anywhere. I have no idea of how factual that may or may not be.

Still doesn't even have a dub annouced, so not for now at least.

And for future predictions I'm thorwing in Hunter X Hunter. Because I just bought the first 21 volumes of the manga today, after buying the first 7 a few months ago.

Well FUNimation sorta fucked up and indirectly said at a Q&A that they are going to dub Toriko, just that it'll take a little while until release.

And I definitely want to see One Piece on Toonami...

It wouldn't be getting that airtime if it wasn't pulling in ratings. I'm no fan of Bleach but there's no denying it's earned it's spot on Adult Swim and (now) Toonami.

I don't see how toonami is gonna survive on dubbed alone

Joke post? Because subbed anime as a TV broadcast premiere is not a good idea. I don't care how much some of you think it is. At that point you're practically begging people not to get sucked into the show.

Ah, gotcha. I guess something like a 9pm to 2am block would've been better.

That'd require getting rid of the comedy shows. Does the comedy animation premiere Saturday nights too or is that all reruns?

Regardless I know the comedy shows pull in some really great ratings so it may be seen as a risk not worth taking to ditch them for even one night.

I think they debut Saturdays. Whichever way, I'm just happy to have the block back.

Generally they're reruns on Saturday night still. It's amazing how much of a cash cow Family Guy repeats still are.

WOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO

I agree with the train of thought that they should go after new shows. There's decent options, but not many that are both good and have a big name or pre-existing hype associated with them.

But how many of the original toonami shows had a bunch of US hype going in? Not many I bet.

So hyped, I really don't care what's shown. Watching it in April was a lot of fun. Although, new series would be better in the long run, I've been out of the loop of Anime for a while. The only series that's a must is Funi's One Piece. I really don't see a better program they could add and I would be shocked if it doesn't show up.

Holy shit Adult Swim sound like they really have their shit together. All their new shows sound spot-on, shit like Children's Hospital is still great and Toonami to cap it off? So jelly of you US folk.

I wonder if they're going to repeat a 3-hour block or go for a true 6-hour block of unadulterated Toonami madness. Because that would justify the block placement standalone, anyway. It's like a Midnight Run gone mad, and the show lineup should reflect that to some degree.

THE QUEEN OF MAGICAL GIRLS SAILOR MOON BETTER BE BACK (even though i have the jp series boxset since like ever and been religiously watching it for years) idc idc

Well [adult swim] just had a bump with the picture on it, focusing on parts of the picture before showing the whole thing. It was the bump leading to the commercials in the middle of Family guy's first episode, should be on again around 2:39 AM eastern.

Music was from this bump: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Lz5Yz7sBjEc

So maybe the anime annoucement bump they have this week will be different too, since it just acted like the bump froze during an update before today.

Midnight to 6 am? Yikes. Its long, but a pretty shitty time.
I would prefer it to air in the late afternoon, even if that means I'll rarely actually be able to catch it.

But I get where CN is coming from. The people who want Toonami back are mostly in the late-teens and older, so I guess they wouldn't want to devote one of their better timeslots to people who probably won't be around to watch it.

I assume it means it'll be just new series from Japan.
Maybe, but remember Williams Street has a history of funding original products. IGPX and Big O! Season Two being the most notable ones.

Although I believe you're right... it would be downright jaw-dropping to see Williams Street do something like fund an Outlaw Star 2.

Funding another season of Fruit Basket?...A man can believe!

If they're going to go for more teen-ish content with this iteration, they should try and get the rights to either Discotek's upcoming Green Jacket Lupin release, or the rights to Red Jacket Lupin from whoever bought the rights from Geneon.
