Yep. The tight plotting is what inspires modern manga creators as shown in MHA.

In the 80's and 90's, creators were allowed to make it up along the way. As seen in Fist of the North Star, Dragon Ball and Jojo.
Later series tend to do it like Naruto and Bleach.
