This fight kind of exemplified that.
Goku hits Vegeta with the Kaio-Ken x4 Kamehameha, Vegeta reveals he has a fake moon
Vegeta nearly kills Goku, but loses his tail, then the Spirit Bomb, but that didn't work either.
How does that qualify as making things up as he goes along? That's standard Shonen 101 when the enemy reveals they have secret moves and are as strong as the author wants them to be.

Not sure why its "making stuff up" and not just Vegeta, at this point in the narrative, is just very sturdy? The super-secret technique that DOESN'T get the job done isn't a new idea or concept.
I need to finish SAO 1 at some point, regardless of it being an abomination.
SOA1 is the greatest comedy I have ever seen, unlike SAO 2.
