I might hazard to say that this season of Attack on Titan is actually great.

I'm inclined to agree. I liked, but didn't love the first season. I thought the four year gap between seasons would kill all my interest, but this season has been a huge step up in almost every way.

The series is monthly, it's hard to do an adaptation when the series is still ongoing. Especially since filler is kind of impossible.
