It did, because when it did use humor, it tend to be during a lighter tone, plus it feels like it flows better with its art style. Here, it feels like mood whiplash because it's so contrasting to the style & tone.

I never felt the whiplash from brotherhood, tons of series do comedy right after serious moments, even berserk does this sometimes.
