If I remember right they're poking fun at the shows that depict high school like this, it gets more obvious in other eps I think.

They really play it up in this show - it's very much intentionally "genericized." It's a pastiche of every 80s sitcom, teen movie, and so forth.
If I remember right they're poking fun at the shows that depict high school like this, it gets more obvious in other eps I think.

Buffy made it work. That show probably has one of the most accurate portrayals, which is ironic considering the content of that show...

Is it Degrassi by any chance. The kissing high school scene definitely made me think they were picking on it.
