False. Almost all of the major characters are MUCH deeper, richer, and well fleshed out human beings in the manga/Brotherhood. Lust is the major exception.

Even in the first 15 minutes of this movie we've seen that this Ed is much more of a jackass than his Brotherhood counterpart.

Why are you comparing the movie to the series? And you're ignoring the pre-Alchemy days ep. that fleshed out the Elrics in FMA.

So why exactly did Toonami decide to show this? This movie requires viewing the 2003 anime, and Adult Swim hasn't shown that for years. Seems like a bad idea.

Yeah, pretty dumb. At least Milos is enjoyable stand alone film, even if you haven't seen much of either series. It's also a better film than Conqueror of Shamballa, Shamballa is just bad.
