Top Albums of 2013 - The Lists |OT|

Looks like I have a ton of catching up to do.

Disappointed in the lack of Chelsea Wolfe on those lists. It would have been nice to see some older artists like Alice in Chains, Gary Numan and Filter make it onto some lists too. They may not have been career bests but they all released solid albums this year.

Chelsea Wolfe's new album is really good. I was also surprised to not see it on many lists.

I didn't listen to very many new albums this year, but Chelsea Wolfe's was one of the few I did listen to. Really, really fantastic. Deserves to be on some of these lists.

I haven't listened to a single one of those except QotSA. Is it mainly hipster indie stuff and techno/dubstep or am I just that out of touch with current music?

fake edit: unless everyone wants to say part 2 retroactively made part 1 bad and considers the two as a whole

The first album wasn't particularly good, the second was even worse. Dude needed someone to sit him down and say hey, all of these songs need to be at least half as long as they currently are.

Crazy how much people dig Blood Orange and FKA TWIGS.

I feel like some of the hipster/underground blogs should cover more jazz. I think the audience would like some of that avant-garde shit. Arve Henriksen and Snakeoil had some really cool releases.

e:and they need to stop drooling over good-for-day electronic releases. I also feel like they prefer to have a unique list than a quality one.

No wonder Kanye is the way he is.

edit:

I think this album is highly underrated and would recommend anyone into music to give it a listen.

I listed true widow who opened for them for their fall tour, that's close enough right?

I don't know what is happening that makes people pick Kanye's album this year. My Beauitful Dark Twisted Fantasy, sure, but Yeezus is just plain bad.

I've stopped trying to argue about music or tell people that what they like is "wrong". Some of these lists I agree with, some I don't. Nothing worse than a music snob, imo.

Its too often tuneless and it centers around hip hop-head approved themes that hip hop snobs will love. Its dead serious. While Earl and Jonwayne may be monotone, Earl has certain rhymes that add a little punch to his flow and Jonwayne has the production and unique lyrics.

I think Ka made an album that means a lot to him though (I respect that.) and some of its fans will probably find some stuff that means a lot to them. I understand the why certain people are going to like it, its just not for me.
