I watched a live COD tourney at a con once. It was the exact opposite of this, but equally as hilarious.

My brother has won Quakecon CTF twice, and competed all over the world.
I've been to many of the events, and never seen anything like that from pro PC tournaments.
There's some crazy partying afterward, but none of that retarded bullshit.

Damn. The only e-sports matches I watch are SCII ones and they're pretty much the exact opposite of this.

are you speaking from experience? I've been to a few big tournaments and none of that goes on. One of the most loved player is gay "Pretty" Ricky Ortiz. O what about Kayopolice and Karaface? O wait they don't get shunned? hmmm I guess you're just talking out of your ass then.
The FGC does have issues but its definitely not racism for the most part. Homophobia exist in the American FGC only because American have a group of people that are homophobes themselves.

Look at that Counter Strike GO video posted on the second page of this topic. It's not impossible for high-stress environments to have measured reactions of disappointment.
This video at least implies that this HYPE happened regularly, and not with low frequency so as to be explained by isolated incident (dude having a rough time at home, etc.) Message at end of video was pretty lazy too.
edit: I don't even have a problem with the celebration video posted elsewhere, but this is not the same.

This is pretty much why I still to single-player 95% of the time I play, and the 5% I play multiplayer is only with my friends. I can't handle that kind of atmosphere since I play games to relax and have fun.

This was one of my major gripes when I used to attend events for CoD4.
'Trash-talking' doesn't bother me that much, it's the persistent over-stepping of the boundaries of personal insults, coarse language and general behaviour.
It's the end result of teenagers, adrenaline and excess amounts of caffeine.

Its not defending it. Its calling it out what it is. Some people are most used to it, some aren't. Whats happening in that video is two teams of gamers just cussing each other out and saying derogation things.
Honestly I watch it and go "whatever". I'm not shocking to say the least, but it is disappointing to see.
Swearing isn't the issue but behaving like a child certainly is. Not surprising coming from the CoD crowd.

I find people's false sense of superiority to people who play CoD far more offensive than people playing CoD and shouting. The smugness in this thread is pathetic.
I live in London, the capital of Swearing and I still find this video over the top, mostly because of the way their acting more than actual swearing, I mean it looks like they are about to fight any second.
Don't get me wrong, I'm not trying to judge, it was kinda funny to watch.
