Top-level COD competitions look like what we expect

The fact you describe yourself as a "pro PC gamer" is hilarious. And I know you're deadly serious as well.

As for this video. People swear when playing games some of the stuff I used to hear when playing Counter Strike was hilarious and the only thing on the line in those matches was stats.

My brother has won Quakecon CTF twice, and competed all over the world.
I've been to many of the events, and never seen anything like that from pro PC tournaments.
There's some crazy partying afterward, but none of that retarded bullshit.

Damn. The only e-sports matches I watch are SCII ones and they're pretty much the exact opposite of this.

Hell, even COD4 promod matches make this look like a joke.

That's because they do their racism/sexism/homophobia behind closed doors or in smaller venues. But that's neither here nor there~

are you speaking from experience? I've been to a few big tournaments and none of that goes on. One of the most loved player is gay "Pretty" Ricky Ortiz. O what about Kayopolice and Karaface? O wait they don't get shunned? hmmm I guess you're just talking out of your ass then.

The FGC does have issues but its definitely not racism for the most part. Homophobia exist in the American FGC only because American have a group of people that are homophobes themselves.
Good try though

to be fair he uses that word just as a diss and says it very often. I don't see how a guy who is close friends with a very openly gay person (Ricky) and live in the same house with him be a total homophobe.

And to an outsider unfamiliar with him or Ricky I'm sure it looks no better or worse than the COD pop-offs. That's all I'm trying to say, not hating on FChamp.

Surely typing this out didn't seem like a great idea after you posted it?

What? I never said it was right or ok. Its important to note that he doesn't use the word as anti-homosexual. I'm not defending it at all, I'm just giving context to the situation.

Very understandable.

They do, but there's more to competitive PC games than "Pull left trigger, pull right trigger". Getting angry and making an ass of yourself over such a simplistic game is hilarious.

How on earth are there competitions for it?
Is it more than "Push mouse button, push keyboard button"? Hehe :P

Cod isn't esports who plays pro auto aim?
Did they play with aiming assist on? Either way, as long as everyone has it, the playing field is equal.

I guess all that pent up aggression could be released in much worse ways.

Okay, I've changed my mind. Shooter games are bad for teenagers. Outlaw them. Do we have a Jack Thompson in the house?

Brain scans reveal brains of CoD players are indistinguishable from those of testosterone injected, 'roid raging monkeys

(yes, I realize there are plenty of normal, well adjusted CoD players)

I find this aggravating in competitive environments: the "testosterone overload"

YOU PIECE OF SHIT
I'LL FUCK YOUR MOTHER
aaaaaaaaAAAAAAAAAAAAAaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa
etc. etc.

Pop offs like these are disagreeable to me and don't come off as anything with purpose. It's not hype. It's dumb.

Look at that Counter Strike GO video posted on the second page of this topic. It's not impossible for high-stress environments to have measured reactions of disappointment.

This video at least implies that this HYPE happened regularly, and not with low frequency so as to be explained by isolated incident (dude having a rough time at home, etc.) Message at end of video was pretty lazy too.

edit: I don't even have a problem with the celebration video posted elsewhere, but this is not the same.

This is pretty much why I still to single-player 95% of the time I play, and the 5% I play multiplayer is only with my friends. I can't handle that kind of atmosphere since I play games to relax and have fun.

This was one of my major gripes when I used to attend events for CoD4.
'Trash-talking' doesn't bother me that much, it's the persistent over-stepping of the boundaries of personal insults, coarse language and general behaviour.

It's the end result of teenagers, adrenaline and excess amounts of caffeine.

Can't believe people are defending this behavior. Long gone are the days of CS and civility as someone else mentioned.

GG

Its not defending it. Its calling it out what it is. Some people are most used to it, some aren't. Whats happening in that video is two teams of gamers just cussing each other out and saying derogation things.

Honestly I watch it and go "whatever". I'm not shocking to say the least, but it is disappointing to see.

This doesn't particularly bother me because uh, who the fuck is watching 'top level COD competitions' except other teenage COD fans.

So really, their behavior fits their demographic fan base perfectly!

Swearing isn't the issue but behaving like a child certainly is. Not surprising coming from the CoD crowd.

I find people's false sense of superiority to people who play CoD far more offensive than people playing CoD and shouting. The smugness in this thread is pathetic.

People swear. Big deal.

People swear all the time. Go to a sports stadium and see what you hear.

I live in London, the capital of Swearing and I still find this video over the top, mostly because of the way their acting more than actual swearing, I mean it looks like they are about to fight any second.

Don't get me wrong, I'm not trying to judge, it was kinda funny to watch.

I thought it was funny, I just don't think there's anything inherently "wrong" with it in that context. It's part of the culture, I doubt anybody was offended.
