I picked up Touched just prior to my vacation and I've found it to be a very entertaining title. I heard complaints that said it didn't have the lasting appeal of the original, but that doesn't seem to be the case with me. In fact, I like the more hands on microgames in Touched!.

The only complain I have is in the mini-game category. The penguin one is great and the harmonica is a nice diversion, but it's lacking compared the original which had Dr. Mario, Sherrif, and Skateboarding (among others).

Was Twisted released in Japan? If so, could GAFfers with the title explain how it differes from both the original and Touched! I can't see it having the variety or lasting appeal of the the first two with the only control mechanism being the tilt sensor, but then again, I haven't played it.

Also, what kind of unlockables does it have and are there any new modes? I'm excited for it, I just want to know how it stacks up.

DAMN IT!

I just spent the last half hour writing up a full breakdown of Twisted for you and BAM - browser crashed and all is gone :( I'll rewrite it again in a bit. SON OF A BITCH - GOD DAMN FIREFOX!

Ok, was going to post this on my blog tonight (free plug http://www.squidtv.com) but since I've got nuthin but love for my peeps here's a breakdown of WarioWare Twisted's best feature:

After raving in my last squible about WarioWare I got a few emails with questions about Twisted so I figured I do a quick breakdown of what is most appealing about the game: the Souvenir section. Basically for every boss fight you pass in the game (even if you replay your favorite characters), you get a turn – literally – at a toy capsule machine. Once your game is over you’ll find out what you unlocked and those items will be neatly organized in the Souvenir section. Still with me?

Ok, so then in the Souvenir section there are different sub-categories. Here’s a breakdown of each one with a short description:

- Records: A working LP player that gives you a selection of wax to play. Songs range from WarioWare favorites to NES classics (Kid Icarus!). You can “scratch” the LPs using the Twist feature.
- Instruments: Similar to the harmonica in Touched this gives you a nice selection of musical instruments. It even has a fully functional piano.
- Figurines: My best description for this sub-section would be action figures. Example: there’s a rope climbing man that you use the tilt feature to help him climb.
- Games: Classic WarioWare fare. Basically fleshed out versions of mini-games that are playable in the story mode.
- Doodads: Umm... They’re doodads. There’s a love machine test to partake with a loved one, a seismockgraph and more… even a egg timer.
- Toys: Again, basically different type of toys. A fully functional Mona music box (you actually have to fully rotate your AGB or DS to wind it up), a cute little toy woodpeck that chips away at a never ending piece of lumber, ect.
- Other: Typical WarioWare weirdness. There’s a working turn dial phone, a virtual cat to pet and more wackiness.

The cool thing about the Souvenir section is that each sub-category has over ten individual entries! I’ve had the game for around three weeks and really feel that I haven’t even scratched the surface of all of the games.

I guess that’s where all the WarioWare Touched hate is coming from, Twisted just seems filled to the brim with extras and Touched, in comparison at least, has only about half of the replay value. Again, Touched has its own charm, and just because Twisted has more replay value doesn’t mean Touched should be ignored.

Oh, and one last point of interest, Twisted has a much higher learning curve a difficulty level. Not that WW vets won’t be able to blow through the story mode rather quickly, but it is definitely more intense than both of the previous WarioWare games.

Go ahead and shoot with Qs. Oh, and for my banner winners - the stuff is coming - recently moved and had to figure out where everything was!

But for 2 fucking months? By that time, I won't care cause I'll be too busy jizzing over PSP games

Thanks for the impressions, Twisted! sounds great. My one question is something I had asked awhile ago (I forget what the answer was). I don't quite understand how Twisted! works. If a lot of games require you to spin the GBA, how can there be any games that require you to be precise with your spinning? It just seems like it would be hard to spin while watching and keeping track of what's going on.

Or maybe I'm just thinking of it wrong.

One of the cooler features of Twisted is that it has a rumble feature. The rumble feature helps you get the "feel" down for accuracy. I hope that answers your Q :)

Simply, I'm HAPPY Touched came first. The DS needed it in its library more than the GBA needs Twisted, and by the time Twisted hits, I'll be done with Touched, and likely have something BETTER to look forward too.

Touched got a bit of bad 'press' here from the early adopters and importers, but I honestly love it and think it's a grand evolution of what they did in the original. It doesn't stray to far from the formula, as for as progression and unlocking is concerned. Twisted seems to be the uber robust one, and I, for one, have NO problem getting that one last.

Twisted is WAY better than Touched. Touched is ok and all but if I'm going to pick up a Wario Ware game off my shelf and play it, I'm going to opt for Twisted. It's just so much more fun.

These things are nice to hear. I think the original and Touched! are about on the same level as far as the main game goes, but beyond that Touched! seems to lack worthwhile unlockables.

Although I really like the game itself, I was disappointed with the unlockables in Touched!. I must say, Pyoro T is better than Pyoro, though. :)

Yeah, I liked Pyoro T better as well. Touched is good but some of the "souveneirs" that you unlock aren't all that great. I've played Twisted and I will agree that it is better though.

Twisted is better for 3 mains reasons:

1. It's more challenging. Most of the characters in Touched! can be beating on the first attempt, Twisted! took more skill to beat. Playing the mini games on their own is more fun too, alot of Touched!'s games you could get to level 999 on if you wanted to, most of Twisted!'s are challenging enough to keep you around the 20-30 mark before things get too crazy.

2. The unlockables. Twisted has better ones and there are alot more of them. The fact you unlock them with a little slot machine while you're playing through characters gives you more incentive to play it over and over.

3. General crazyness. I don't know if it's because Touched was made by Intellegent Systems and not the original Wario Ware team, but the games are just far more crazy in Touched. Some games had me actually laughing out loud while Touched never quite had that same effect on me as it was quite 'normal' compared to the 2 GBA games.

How do I unlock Pyoro in the original? I read that I had to play all the games for all the characters, but I don't know which ones I have left to do or how to go about it.

you can check to see what you have/haven't unlocked in the grid

You know, it's only been discussed, in detail, in 10 or so threads in the past few months...

Twisted.

The major benefit of the DS - the touch screen - is in my opinion its downfall.

Each game in each version isn't difficult - the difficulty comes in working out what to do in the time you have. I think this'analysis phase' at the beginning of each game is the main source of my enjoyment of the games.

In touched, you skip the analysis phase because its so obvious what to do - thanks to the touch screen.
