Sorry for not being as flashy as the original Toukiden Kiwami OT, hope you guys like it none-the-less. I tried to include as much stuff however there were a few things I did skip over that I can probably go back and add in if others wish for it. Hopefully this is okay. No one claimed the OT and I posted in the OT volunteer thread. Sort of made it quickly so report any errors I may have overlooked.

Yes!
Although the Naginata was great too!

I used Knives in the original release and then the Naginata in Kiwami. Was nice. Though I will be switching to Sword & Shield this time.

S&S is my bread and butter in MH and so happy to have it here! It's been fun in the demo thus far.

Chain Whip all the way!

Really looking forward to how the Mitamas are this time around, the system seems to be improved a bit.

Why would they changed some of the already excellent mitama's art with a bad, new ones? :/
Couldn't believe they just fucked up Nijima Yae real hard. Regardless, I'm still going to buy the game on PC.

Also went with Naginata in Kiwami and really enjoyed S&S in the demo. Also, is there no pre-order/store page on PSN?

I've noticed that as well but yeah. Currently there is no pre-order page... Which makes me think there will be no pre-load. :(

There is a demo up on PSN (at least for PS4 idk about Vita) that you can try that also carrys over to the main game if you ever decide to get it.

It also should be noted that the demo has a fair bit of content on the single-player and co-op front. So you get a pretty good idea if you will like the game based on it.

Which kind of open world is it?

1. Skyrim/Horizon style, one map
2. DAI/Witcher 3 style, several maps

As far as I can tell from the demo it seems like it's one map but it's split into zones. In the sense that there's no loading screen but there's only one path to each other part of the map.

That sounds interesting. I guess I'll try the PS4 demo and probably get the Steam version later. Thanks.

Yeah for the most part it seems to be one general route to the various areas.

In the import OT I did a 30m vid I think showing me fighting through some of the areas.

On mobile or would pull up the link myself.

Thanks for the OT!

In on PC this time, preordered and all. Not that I trust their PC port that much but gotta give to them for bringing it to Steam, plus with a regional price that makes it 60% cheaper than Automata.

Oh shit I totally forgot about this game! Jesus cristo there is seriously too much to play. This, Zelda, Nier, Horizon, Mass Effect, and persona 5. Me and the fam are set for the rest of the year...@_@

Is the game any good?
If you take MH as a reference, I think Toukiden is a bit mashier and action-heavy. Doesn't waste as much time to get going but also isn't quite as intricate, combat-wise. I imagine 2 is quite similar to Kiwami from what I've seen.

Game is fairly enjoyable if you dont try to compare or expect the experience with the combat to be as polished as monster hunter.

The fact that it has a story with characters helps a lot too for those who get bored with just pure combat only.

Getting parts and upgrading your equipment is a lot faster than monster hunter also.

One thing for sure is that this game is balanced easier than Kiwami.

The demon arm or whatever they call it in the localized version is a pretty great addition to the game and helps with both offensive and evasive actions.

I never played the original, but I did just play the demo for 2 this evening on PS4. In lieu of a proper Monster Hunter game on consoles (God Eater never did it for me. I need visual armor progression, I guess), I actually really enjoyed what I played. I'll probably pick it up in the next few weeks.

Aaaaaand another game on my backlog. At this point, I'm going to need a year of sabbatical from work to finish everything. Also, muh wallet ;_;

I just bought kiwami on Vita cause it was $20, so if I like the first one - I guess I'll be back! Thanks for doing the OT anyway!

Tried the demo out and wow, this looks and feels substantially better than the first one. I'm especially loving the new Sword & Shield weapon, as well as that Demon Hand thing. That little mobility convenience is great.

Correct me if i'm wrong but i believe that this is the first monster hunting game to be open world? In any case, it's great to finally get a game like this that has big open areas.

Thanks for the OT. I was on the fence about this game but decided to read the online manual in the demo. Figured some stuff out which made me feel better.

The open world wasn't grabbing me either but I'm happy there are standard missions to fall back on as well. Leaving party members out of it is nice too. Sometimes they do too much of the work. The mitama system seems way better now and the demon hand is a welcome addition.

If anyone wants to add me to play online, go for it. McWorked_You on PS4.

Cheers OP!

I'm probably sticking with the bow again for early game, like I did with AoD. Will try to give a chance to other weapons later on.

Another stealth release

Not really, it's been announced a while ago and both KTA and KTE been posting about it frequently for the past weeks.
Then again, I'm comparing it to Atelier Totori+, which had no announcement at all between being found on rating boards and being released ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

Bah, I really loved the original Toukiden even though I thought it was kind of shallow (I didn't get that far so it probably opened up later). If this was a slightly cheaper release I'd jump on it but in this current game season I'm not sure I can really justify it over persona or another instaclassic.

How come combat is more polished in MH? You can't change the direction mid-combo or cancel combo altogether in MH. That always leave you vulnerable. You can in Toukiden and other MH clones. It's like that since the first game on PS2 and I can't believe they still haven't changed it.
