Toukiden 2 |OT| Action Hunting Gameplay Feat. Open World

Just when you think Tecmo Koei is learning, they go and fuck it up again.

Great job.

I had a quick mess about with cheat engine myself but didn't find much useful. I could change the window value but it would just freeze up.

It's just a good job I got it for cheaper than the PS4 version anyway. :P

The Tenko costume that comes in the first month bonus DLC is pretty OP as well, with something like 350 armor and over 300 all elemental defense. But then again so were the costumes Kiwami had, and they were outclassed pretty soon by rank 3 stuff.

I've played up to the Bruteclaw in the story. Some people in the forums are reporting crashes but I had no issues whatsoever so far. No 4k is disappointing, but no regrets picking this up over the PS4 version. Between 60fps and much shorter loading times, it'd be hard to go back.

Also has anyone figured out how to invite NPCs to your party to explore in the open world? Thus far the only time I've had them in my party is when the game puts them in. Some reason there is no way to just add them to go free roaming.
Talk to the shrine lady, there's a "call comrades" option. They won't show up in town but you'll see them once you cross the gates.

CPU usage has been spiking for no reason for some players. It's quite annoying and a little concerning to play for long periods of time depending on how old your computer parts are.

They need to stop letting interns whose laptop screens only go up to 1080p to code their games...

It's definitely something like that. Whoever ported it probably didn't have access to 1440p or 4K displays.

So, the PC port is confirmed to be based on the PS4 version? There's some talk on Steam about them having used some mixed/lower quality assets on PC.

So far the controls seem problematic.

a) How do I aim with a bow? I have to hold down the fire button to enter aiming mode, but then the left stick doesn't adjust my aim, it just moves my character. So I need to hold down fire and move my right stick to actually aim. I can't hold down fire and move the stick with one hand.

b) How do I target specific body parts with a ranged weapon? the tutorial kept asking me to hit certain parts of an Oni, but the lock-on would always aim me at his chest. I can't manually aim at a body part because of point a, and cycling targets doesn't cycle body parts, it cycles individual Oni.

c) The special attack with the Bow keeps missing for some reason. At close range it auto misses (understandable), but at medium and long ranges it's kind of 50/50 whether the homing projectiles just slam into the ground or the tracked enemy. I don't understand why I'd ever use it.

So far the game runs nicely, looks passable and screams MH. Eager to spend more time with it.

Edit: Found the encylopedia! least I have a moves list now.

To aim while charging: hold charge button (say, square), hold R1, release square. R1 will hold your charge until you release it. You can then aim with the right analog ccomfortably. Works with everything chargeable afaik.

If you aim like that at a body part and use lock-on, it will lock on that part (with some margin of error).

Ok, that is solid gold. Tomorrow I will begin hunting in earnest.

Wow, the customization is so robust now. There's slider and not only for the face but also body as well. If there's this game do better than ME: Andromeda, customization is the answer.

EIT: Oh man, all this sliders intimidates me :(

Any idea if there's a carryover bonus from the demo?

I think you get some items sent your mail. Not sure which ones those are those.

Also does anyone else not like the Professors model? Like in the art work she is fine but her eyes are waaaay too big in her actual model. Looks too much like a doll. Everyone else looks fine.

bought this via GMG and i dont have any of the free dlc apparently.

edit: Apparently you have to add the dlc seperately and have the game open because it'll force the game open each time if you dont have it on.

Having issues with discord and the game.

Does anybody happen to have a Kiwami save from Steam to use for importing? I played the japanese version on my PS4 and wasn't thrilled at how hard the game tended to chug in larger fights, but that means I can't get my NA Kiwami import on.

I don't, looks like a creepy porcelain doll.

Really looking forward to this, I loved the demo a hell of a lot more than I expected. I have a friend to play with but I might be interested in mixing with some folks. :3

Just to be 110% sure, though, cross-region play (i.e. between JP version and English verison) is enabled via that one option and switching it to all regions, right? Friend has the JP version and it'll be a bummer if we can't hang together.

Just in case this hasn't been answered, there's an option to switch server restrictions from English Only to international. That should mean there'll be no problem playing with your friend.

Loving the game so far. My first game in the series.

i mean, the ps4 version is definitely no looker either. Game was obviously developed with the vita in mind, so that holds a lot back.

Eh, no more "obviously" than that the first Toukiden was made with the PSP in mind, or that Attack on Titan was made with the pathetic Vita version in mind...

Toukiden 2's engine roots are designed somewhere around PS3 levels of performance (with then with PS4/PC sheen slathered on top,) and it's true they're not getting god-tier next-gen graphics levels out of it, but that's not what this engine (or Omega Force, in a way... they're just so busy!) is really capable of. It's a modern engine, a great advance for the team after going about as far as possible with the Musou tech, but even the next Dynasty Warriors probably will now show the 'real PS4 power' people are looking for. (From the sound of it, DW9 is an ambitious evolution of Musou tech and I'm guessing is targeting current-gen-only, but whether it's a totally new engine or a refinement/expansion on what Toukiden 2 pulled off with the team's open-world engine/technology remains to be seen.)

That there's still a Vita version is more a factor of the engine still allowing a version to be squeezed out and it being viable in the Japanese market, but you look at this game on that platform (or Omega Force titles like the Musou Dragon Quest or Berzerk games) and you can see that the aging platform is just barely holding on in coping with these next-gen brutes and that aspects get cut/compromised in order to port down to the portable. Luckily, Toukiden 2 Vita seems to cope decently well with the challenge posed by this open-world sequel, but I don't think you could look at a screenshot or video of the Vita version and say that they put all their effort into that version.

Died to exposure for the first time. Had been exploring for about an hour, had 1/3 of the bar left when I noticed it and a big oni spawned out of nowhere and locked me 20s away from the nearest stone.

And now I know why it keeps your last 4 saves.

It really feels like the kind of mechanic that's only there to keep you from having too much fun. Not a fan at all.

Warning PC version has forced VOIP( I think that the correct term for voice chat) and if you use another voice chat like discord you'll hear double voices.

Anyone else having issues with getting a code for the preorder DLC for Amazon? Tried emailing support and they keep thinking I want to return the game. I just want the code ._.;

Pretty good, WAY too much needless dialogue though. Will definitely buy this later on down the line.

I personally don't like the unsubtitled dialogue the characters sometime spout while exploring and I really hate the unskippable dialogue that writes slowly on the screen. Since, yeah, you can move and attack but you can't interact with anything.

YIL that naginatas are apparently shit weapons. I guess I should be embarrassed to admit that was seriously the ONLY weapon type I ever used in Kiwami for 90 hours. I assume that explains why some late-game battles took like 20 minutes lol.

I'm trying to find a new weapon I like in 2 then since that would probably be a good idea. I started with chain&sickle but it seems pretty worthless unless you use lock-on all the time (which I never do). It whiffs normal mobs horribly and that whole "no right stick aiming" thing is god awful. Thanks for the heads up maouvin about the R1 thing, I didn't know that. I did it with L1 but that obviously just ends up locking on too.

I had fun with sword, but it seems to have zero aerial game which I could foresee being boring as shit against larger oni since you'll just be whacking their feet for infinity while the AI has all the fun taking off the top parts.

Yeah I was super excited about the CAC but hilariously enough the girl I wanted to create was damn near close to the default. I think I just changed nose to 4, mouth to 8, left everything else on default and there was Su-metal. I messed with making the jaw/chin wider for a rounder face but figured that would end up making the character model goofy in-game.

Yeah, I'm also looking for a new weapon. Mained rifles in Kiwami for part breaking but they took away spirit shot spam and now it's not fun anymore.

I wish they had left the old unity destroyer in the game, it's what I used to break higher up parts that were out of reach with a melee weapon. I'm trying a club right now and I'm bored of breaking feet.

Might go back to the good ol' bow...

Isn't that what you would use Demon Hand for? I was using the Club in the demo and got plenty of air using the Demon Hand.

Unless I'm mistaken, at least messing around with C&S and longsword last night, both weapons would just do a plunging attack after demon hand.

Did anyone who ordered from Amazon get the pre-order bonus? I know it was supposed to be a costume and mitama pack but I haven't gotten my code yet.

(Vita version)

I don't care if i took an hour in toukiden 1 , nagitama were fun to use.

And with the right mitama , they were deadly as well.

I'm hoping this will be the same here.

I am digging this game. It's like the PC MH clone I always wanted.

Experimented with some weapons, then fell in love with guns. Nothing like blowing the legs out from under a 12 foot demon insect with a goddamn medieval railgun.

Yeah, I never looked at guides or specs or anything, but I'd just run DEF and between armor and parries, you never had to move away other than repositioning for multiple body part hits. Having an easy insta-launcher is always nice too.

Maybe I'll go back to being ignorant and start using them again while I get used to the new mechanics.

can't get enough of parries ? i understand that feelign.

I understand it WELL. very Well

Game is so fun and very impressed with performance on PC, really didn't except this quality optimization, 60fps Toukiden pleasure is so good!

Only problems so far with shadows, they looks blocky sometimes, especially self shadows. Game using so much CPU power, don't know if this problem or game really need it. I wonder if someone can share CPU usage with an i7 or Ryzen for better understanding this CPU situation. No 4K is sad, wanted to take some downscaled screenshots. :/

Also thanks KT, for cloud save, trading cards and a quick update for the game! :D

Edit: I also found this graphic bug:
