It is sweet compared to what I had. Granted its not the best HDTV by far, but its darn good for what it is. It was selling for 470 (or so. can't remember exactly) but this week its on sale for 350 at Circuit City. Things will be tight for awhile but I'll manage (barring anything unforeseen). I'm looking at the extra dough spent (the TV I traded back in costed me 149 before tax, open box deal) as future proofing my set up somewhat.
I love the widescreen. Playing with the aspect ratios is kinda neat.lol
You non HDTV gamers should see some of the games that will actually play in high defintion. Most of the games will only run in 480p. Just switching them into progessive scan mode makes them look alot better. Sonic Heroes says its 720p on the box but it only runs in 480p for me. I just wish I could find more PS2, Xbox or Gamecube games that run in a higher def than 480 progessive scan.
Grandia 3 also doesn't look so dark anymore on this TV.
Can't wait to try Riddick with this thing!
Ran into a problem though.......I can't get any Nippon Ichi games to run. What do I do to fix that? Anything?
I can get other 2D games like Culdcept and Growlanser 3 to run fine.
So far, so good. Looks like a good investment even if all I'm doing is playing games on it. I just gotta figure out how I'm gonna go about hooking up my gamecube to it. I've already got my PS2 and Xbox hooked up via a madcatz component cable.
How much better will this system be if I use Monster cables to game with? How about buying a really cheapie sound system? I won't be doing this anytime in the near future but someday I might spring for it.
Compared to my old tiny ghetto TV (an RCA XL100 with knobs on it), this is a huge improvement.
