I'm a huge history buff, and would consider myself an expert on 14th and 15th century French and English history. It's a passion and the reason why I pursued a degree in history.
Yep. This film is right up my street.
Just please be better than the last film we had in this era, which was The King on Netflix. God, that film was shit and so woefully inaccurate.
Kingdom of heaven vibes, all in.
I'm sure some people are going to be making knee-jerk hot takes about what the movie is about, but this really happened. Was the first legally sanctioned duel in France.
Looks great. I'll note that The Duellists was Ridley Scott's first film, back in 1977. Worth a watch.
Hang on, so the FIRST duel is called "The Last Duel"? And it looks like they show us all the good stuff in the trailer...unless one of them loses and there is a big war as the third act.
Looks great though, costume oscar for sure.
Historical accuracy and Ridley Scott don't really go hand in hand, but he does make some really nicely acted, edited and shot movies. So yeah, I am in.
Set in France, American actors, English accents
Plot twist, David lands the Covenant ship half way through the movie and all hell breaks loose.
I will watch
Bah, The Hound (or was it the Mountain?) already did it in Game of ThronesThe actual duel is record in great detail. Hopefully they just recreate it because it's pretty epic.
Adam Driver's character
decapitates Matt Damon's horse after the joust when they're on the ground.
Have you had the chance to see the TV series Versailles? I found it great.I'm a huge history buff, and would consider myself an expert on 14th and 15th century French and English history. It's a passion and the reason why I pursued a degree in history.

I briefly skimmed Wikipedia, rather complex case. Interesting that if the initiating party lost the wife would have been hanged immediately as someone that gave 'false testimony'. It would have happened at Gibbet of Mountfaucon, where one of greatest man in Medieval France - Enguerrand de Marigny - was also hanged. Not sure how historically accurate it will be as the actual truth about the accusation still remains a much debated topic. But I saw that the book it is based on points towardsLe Gris as the guilty party
