I thought he was going to stop these type of movies? as it was a mess to organize and such...

This is pure fiction as opposed to Borat and Bruno which arguably had a lot of unscripted elements.

I think this looks great. But I am the one person who enjoyed Da Ali G Movie.

I love this dude but that trailer was very far from funny. This could be his first dud. The Ali G movie may not have been amazing but at least it was based on a funny character. This trailer reminded me of The Love Guru or something.

OMG my conversative sensibilities are being offended by this blantant atempt at controversy!!
How insipid are this guy's movies, he is to films what Marilyn Manson is to music, just some guy trying to get people outraged.

After watching this trailer, I think you're giving him too much credit.

What? You guys never seen a SBC movie? You can't judge a SBC movie by an all-ages trailer.

Since graphic penis jokes are 92.8% of the man's material, I'm frankly surprised he was able to find three funny-ish gags to put in an all-ages trailer.

I'm not a huge fan, but even I know this.

Ben Kingsley looks so much like Hamid Karzai in this it's scary.

Other than that...yeah, I don't know. The voice sounds like Adam Sandler in "You Don't Mess with the Zohan," his beard looks totally fake (maybe it's supposed to, but that just takes me out of the movie. It looks like one of those fake Santa Claus beards), and the humor, other than the race scene, didn't seem too shocking or over the top, which is when Cohen is at his best, I think.

We'll see, but this doesn't make me want to go out and see it.

The race scene was funny. Otherwise, pretty meh. Ali G and Borat were amazing, Bruno sucked ass. Hopefully this ends up at least somewhat funny...

I'll give this a miss. I used to really like him but his movies cross the line into tasteless exploitive mockery. No thanks.

You can tell he thought Gaddafi was pretty funny. He's even got the same elite woman bodyguard squad.

That reminds me...what happened to Gaddafi's elite woman bodyguard squad? Something tells me that I don't really want to know it. :(

Yup looks like they are trying too hard.

BTW : Bruno sucks, but it is much, much better when you listen to the commentary track. They explain a lot about how they were almost killed, arrested, deported etc while filming. It really is fascinating.

Love SBC. I thought this trailer was pretty funny, though I do prefer films along the Borat/Bruno path rather than actual films where he's concerned. Will still watch though.

Could be a bad trailer.... I'm not sure if it makes sense, but it seems over the top. Even for sbc. Like a throwback to National Lampoon/Naked Gun/(The other one with charlie sheen, as topper? Oh yeah, HOT SHOTS) Type gaggetry one off humor?

The guy is definitely a comedic genius imo. But this isn't coming off as that. Even the costume is just really too much.

So . . . is it a rip off of
Woody Allen's Bananas?

I've always thought he was a bit of a one trick pony to be honest. I thought it strange how when he took his act to the US everyone looked at it as something new and never been done before. It was never really that new in the UK though.

Making a whole movie in that style was new I guess.

We also had Da Ali G show in the US long before Borat/Bruno it just wasn't so popular.

I loved Da Ali G show back in the days, but I swear I'm not using hyperbole, or in the slightest bit being picky, but Bruno was the FIRST and only movie I have EVER begun to watch, and stopped out of boredom/disgust for the movie. Stopped about 20 minutes in I think it was.

But this one changed things - looks like he's back in form, offensive and not giving a damn while actually being funny again.
