Lame as fuck. Isn't this guy very smart? Did his Masters in Philosophy or something? He's really dumbed himself down quite a bit. Not interested.

Even the race scene was painfully unfunny. I bet people who are excited for this awful-looking movie also paid to see Bucky Larson.

I'll give this one a shot though I'd much rather see SBC play more hilarious supporting characters in comedies like in Talladega Nights. He was pretty awesome in that.

I'm astounded at the amount of people guffawing over the race scene. I guess in contrast to the rest of that shit package it was mildly amusing, but holy fuck was that a terrible trailer.

What a shame that Cohen looks to have gone the Adam Sandler route, when his Ali G era stuff was so goddamn good. Borat was very good. Bruno less so, but still funny as shit. And now this Dictator shit just makes it look like he is tapped out and peaked with Ali G. Ali G was so good that I'll always take a look at what Cohen is doing, but I will be skipping this without question. Ugh.

That's pretty much how I feel about the trailer. Although I love almost anything SBC has done (including his roles in Sweeney Todd, Ricky Bobby, even Madagaskar), I'm not looking forward to this.

Why are people even offended by this? It's obviously a comedy parody. This looks awesomely hilarious!!
Wait, so it's a parody of real comedies? You mean it's not funny on purpose?!

Mind. BLOWN.

Well at least he's releasing it in a year where it's very relevant. It's like Gaddhafi: the movie

edit: er never mind, I was really confused there, I meant the trailer.

I think it looks pretty funny, but i'll wait to see more before passing any real judgement. I enjoyed Borat, but it felt like he tried to hard in bruno, the only scene in Bruno I actually laughed at was when he calls Osama Bin-laden a Dirty Wizard.

just out of curiousity though, I heard a rumor that SBC was going to play Freddy Mercury in a Queen movie, did that have any truth to it, or was that not even close to being real? I think he could pull off the look atleast for the role.

I expect more from Sacha. I for some reason thought this was unscripted so it's a disappointing to see this isn't and going by the trailer that looks to be a bad thing.

When a person who is Jewish (and Zionist) puts on a costume and acts out Arab stereotypes, it has the sensibility of a white person donning blackface to eat a watermelon.

By that token, this movie should be considered racist.

It will, not, however, be considered racist.

The conclusion is yours.

My conclusion is you are either way too sensitive or somewhat unintelligent.

Maybe both.

What were the Arab stereotypes? I saw dictator stereotypes, not Arab stereotypes.

This looks dangerously close to a Sandler movie.

He needs to stop doing comedies or at least drastically change the roles he takes. Nothing that would fall under Ferrell or Sandler comedies. His movies tend to be much smarter than those two, but this looks like he might be slipping. I laughed at the race scene though.

Borat was hilarious. Bruno had its ups and downs but was disappointing due to him trying to hard and being an uninteresting character. This is...shit. Will see if it gets good reviews/word of mouth.

I hope that Freddie Mercury biopic is still happening. That will fix everything.

Cohen should stick to unscripted stuff with unsuspecting people. That's what he does best.

This looks like it'll suck.

Bruno was his most satirical film to date, and even though it didn't get everything right it was way more cutting and provocative than Borat and Ali G which were mostly just done for laughs.

I'm sure I'll end up watching this in the cinema.

Borat was great because it didn't feel he was trying too hard.

With Bruno, he tried too hard (no pun intended), also it was pretty obvious that much of the stuff was staged. Unlike borat, which might have been fake too, but it wasn't as blatant.

This is the same case.

I don't like that this person is trying to branch out and do something different. He should stick to beating a dead horse beyond when it's funny.

everyone knows who he is

As long as he creates a new character and manages to have a low profile there will always be people he can trick. Obviously he couldn't go back to Ali G, Borat or Bruno.

What I'm saying is that the classic structure of comedy movies doesn't suit him so far. Maybe he can get there eventually, but The Dictator doesn't look like much of an improvement over Ali G In Da House.

Ali G in da house is brilliant though

If Bill Maher wants to be really clever, he would interview him as the Dictator about this.

They could make so many political puns about former dictators tolerated by the US, how about he made arms deals with Cheney or Rumsfeld in the 80s and about his ban from the Oscars.

Fox news would be so pissed and the media buzz would be awesome.

Brilliant, really? My friend who introduced me to SBC and is an absolute fan of him thought it sucked when we watched it (I didn't even want to watch more than a third of it, and we're both fan of Da Ali G show), Imdb gives it a 6.0/10 and Rotten Tomatoes gives it 56% rating. Not saying you can't enjoy it at all, but there is nothing so good that it deserves to be called "brilliant".

The show is brilliant. That movie is nowhere near brilliant. It was a passable movie based on a funny character. I love SBC and his show is one of my all-time favorites, but I wouldn't recommend anyone watch the Ali G movie. Borat and Bruno were much better.
