Trails in the Sky 1st Chapter launches September 19 worldwide for PS5, Switch, and PC

I'm guessing Nintendo has asked Publishing partners to hold off on announcing any more new Switch 2 games until after the launch so as to not take attention off of the 20+ launch titles.

They probably don't want early adopters to feel overwhelmed before the thing is even out and don't want to hurt potential sales of their Publishing partners launch games for other games that are months and months out.
That would be pretty odd if they did that, there are already Switch 2 games dated for September and beyond.

Inazuma 11 Victory Road got a Switch 2 version announced for August for example.

I had the collectors editions on PS3 and I got the collectors on PS4 and continued to buy the new releases, still haven't got round to completing the first 😞

I am just not feeling the game even though I loved OG. This is especially so because FC/SC go together and there is no word about the second game.

Plus I would want it as a full cart for Switch 2 as a preference.

after clair obscur i think i can't play another traditional JRPG for a while, have to clear the taste of greatness of my mouth before trying mediocre turn base game again.
bruh

Not really, it's just allowing some breathing space for attention during the lead up to the launch. If litterally every dev/pub was announcing a new Switch 2 game every day/week before Switch 2 even launch it could potentially drownout the attention of some of the games actually launching.

Nintendo in fact does this with their own 1st party titles.

Edit: I'm referring to games not releasing until fall and later.

I think Falcom doing all of the ports in-house for this game, so it's most likely they don't have enough resources for another one. They probably will release it later.

Buy why would they let Level 5 announce a Switch 2 version of an RPG coming 21 August, but not let Falcom announce a Switch 2 version of RPG coming 19 September?

Especially when its a game that has already been announced for Switch.

i m not saying that the story is bad ( despite all JRPG cringe fest dialogue ), im saying that the game play is too "traditional/slow", i was playing Daybreak just before Clair and i dont think i can go back to it for a while.

How so, Daybreak and Daybreak 2 have combat systems way more dynamic than Clair Obscure.

In fact, Clair Obscure does copy many things from the SMT/Persona, Yakuza 7/8, and Trails series, aside the most obvious FF inspiration. Preemptive strikes, advantages, elemental damage, unbalance systems, boost gauge needed for specials, turn order as column on right side..

Expedition 33 is a breath of fresh air because music, art design, ambience, UE5 graphics etc, but in the gameplay element alone it's not up to the best JRPGs yet.

I doubt that you even launched Daybreak a single time. Game where you can spent 80% of fights in action mode, is anything but "traditional/slow". And even in command battles you have much more freedom and dynamic than in that obscure game, where everyone glued to their place. If you entered the thread just to shitpost admit it and move on, instead of writing gibberish.

I got the plat for Daybreak 2 right before E33. I loved E33 and it's my GOTY so far but I'm ready for Daybreak 3 also. I like the combat system in both they are different.

Amazing!

A couple of months ago I was thinking in getting into the series but just then they announce the remake so I preferred to wait for it.

Now the question is: PS5 or Switch version?

Well, it's just one game and it's out within 2 months of the launch so announcing it as a launch window now probably won't do much.

Still though, it's May, they probably wouldn't want other devs announcing dozens of Switch 2 games (regardless if its already announced for Switch 1) coming out in September, October or November before their launch games have even launched.

Once Switch 2 launches the floodgates will open, but for now Nintendo is most likely trying to keep a heavy focus on mainly launch and launch window (i.e. June-July) games.

Last games on Switch run.. how to say it? They are serviceable enough, but run at 30fps and with a lot of lighting effects, detail missing, and resolution is not too good. Unless you want 100% to play it portable, or there's a Switch 2 version confirmed/upgrade... I would go with the PS5 version. All we have seen is the Switch one, probably docked and in a not too big FullHD screen so optimal results, and it looks good, but PS5 version can be amazing, and Switch 2 too.

I don't think Nintendo minds if publishers announce Switch 2 versions of already announced Switch games. It might be that the game doesn't have a Switch 2 version at launch.

Maybe, but if you notice there are a lot of announced Switch 1 games releasing after June 5 that devs are simply not mentioning Switch 2 plans for. Maybe it doesn't exist, but I doubt that these devs wouldn't want to take advantage of the extra power that Switch 2 offers...and yet none are saying anything, yet.

Again, After June 5th I'd expect to hear more and more about various Switch 2 Editions (or upgrades) of already announced Switch 1 games

Uhhh... thats a nice insight, thanks.

Let me go cast Agi for the 10284738 time this new fight to see if the monster is weak to it or not. Riveting.

There's a bunch of new info up on the game's website (FYI).

Edit: Gematsu has an article up with all the new details!

It's action combat!? Or is this the daybreak start action into turn based?

Soooooo sick.

It's the same as Daybreak, you can initiate combat with the action system and then switch to the turn-based system (for example, when the enemy is stunned).

They added a few characters info on the website: https://trailsfirstchapter.com/character/.

Which means, new screens!

Characters are looking good.

The three new arrangements they released on the website seem to be from the game and not EVO or other versions:

Seems to be faithful to the original, the Sky feeling is still there. Pretty good.
