Never played trails series, and I wonder if the story is not connected with the main series.

Knowing nothing about this series, is it a "We have Tales at home" situation, or does it feel like its own thing? Am I just being fooled by the animeness of it all?

Already answered by lots of people but you can check the first post of below thread. I created that thread and first post to inform newcomers as well in detail.

GungHo is pretty cheap, the box just has the disc and the precaution insert. This ain't the "deluxe editions" from NIS, that's for sure. Same price though.

I can continue my save from the demo (which I didn't beat and only played 40 minutes of), I'm wondering if I miss any trophies by doing this. Would they auto-pop if I was meant to have unlocked them in the demo? The crazy thing is that the PS5 won't even show me the trophy list for the game. Mybe because it isn't supposed to be out til Friday?

I really like some Tales of games, Eternia, Graces F, Berseria, Vesperia, even Arise.

But man, as they say in my country, comparing Tales to Trails is like comparing a gypsy to God himself.

Probably. On Steam, it is same as well. You cannot buy or pre-download the game until it is released.

While we wait for the release, here is a small tribute to Wataru Ishibashi, who passed away more than a decade ago at this point.

He was the main composers of Sky FC (together with Hayato Sonoda) and his contributions were fundamental in defining the vibe of the game.

He also composed Silver Will, the most iconic song in FC. He is missed for sure.

I can't speak for this game but from Daybreak 1 and 2 the demo didn't pop trophies and I never got them after continuing the full game. It does save trophy progress in a way though. So like if you need to do all side quest in the game and you did 2-3 of them during the intro you'll get the trophy for doing all the SQ at the end of the game. If there is a trophy for beating a boss during the prologue though it wont pop during the full game.

It hasn't mattered to me in the last two games because I was going for plat anyways and that required two playthroughs. Not sure if this game will though.

Very excited, Trails through Daybreak was my first game in the franchise and I really enjoyed it -- but I went back to try this one on my Steam Deck and it just seemed very slow and old, didn't interest me a whole lot and then this remake was announced shortly after so I just forgot about it.

Already interesting as there's some characters I recognize from Daybreak like Zin and Scherazard, and of course the Bright siblings are referenced (as well as another Bright character who had a major role in Daybreak who doesn't seem to be in this as well? I'm sure she works in to the story eventually...)

I hope they plan to continue on with these remakes for at least the older style looking ones, this arc and the Crossbell arc. I've heard the second part is already teased at the end of this one so it's looking good there so far, at least. Though I'm not sure I'll want to wait for them to remake everything before continuing on with Daybreak II...

I think you can safely play Daybreak 2 without any issue but don't forget about the Cold Steel arc also.

Yeah I've heard Daybreak 2 is really only connected to the first one, I've been hoping they would do a Switch 2 patch for it cause I wanted the physical, but seems like they've already moved on to other projects so I doubt it at this point. Will probably grab it on Steam next time it's on sale.

I just wanna know how extensive and high-quality the side content is versus the original and direct comparisons of how the game runs on switch 2 compared to a regular Switch 1.

I had seen these games pop up from time to time, but the regular release cadence and art style made me think the series was something more akin to the Atelier series (which I think is awful).

it's really encouraging to see a lot of love for this franchise though, so I've downloaded the demo and look forward to giving it a play.

Nice OT

For simplicity I put Reverie in the Erebonia arc, even if it's an epilogue to both Crossbell and Erebonia (base image source: rpgfan.com)

Please spoiler tag any major story element. Do not discuss any other game in the series, use the Trails Community Thread for that.

Thanks to jshackles jshackles for the OT title!
Kai no Kiseki/Beyond the Horizon still not put into the timeline?

There's zero "The Legend of Heroes" branding anywhere on the box or in game that I've seen so far. Does NIS have exclusive rights to that name in the West or something? Seems weird that it's completely absent.

Tales in the Arise Woooo!
That's a good game. I have also enjoyed Trails of Berseria. Tales of Cold Steel f was no slouch either. And let's not forget about The Legend of Nayuta: Dawn of the New World.

I decided not to put it for now since it's not out in the West yet. I'm so hyped for that one.

Falcom just removed it to avoid confusing people most likely. It's also not present in the Japanese version too.

I'm gonna confess: I wasn't planning to buy remake instantly. I'm finishing Baldur's Gate 3 today just for my luck and was planning to start Unicorn Overlord on PS5 as the game entered the library. I was kinda looking forward to it because I didn't play any game on PS5 for nearly a year (because everything is coming to PC).

And now remake is going out tomorrow. As a hardcore Trails fan, after the OT here, I really feel obligated and must answer the call tomorrow. Damn it mèx mèx :messenger_face_steam:

I plan to pick this likely in early October but don't plan to play until November or December.

Going with FF tactics remake as my RPG of October.

Finally got around to completing the demo on PC. I enjoyed it for the most part. It's got a charming setting and tone. It helps that I was warned by a friend who played the original to expect glacial plot pacing so I was able to adjust my expectation accordingly. I'll probably wait to pick it up on sale

I played the trillogy two years ago. I was planning on picking this up, but not playing it since I played the original somewhat recently. I am excited to play through it again in this remake now though so I will be jumping in tomorrow.

I want the Azure and Zero games remade like this.

If these do well I don't see any reason for them not to do it. I rushed through this series and didn't enjoy them as much as the other arcs. So I'd like them to be remade as well so I can try them again since I think I was just tired of the 2d sprites. Hard for me to play games like that these days.

Unicorn Overlord was my goty when that came out. Stupid good.

Ngl, I pre-ordered my copy a while back because I almost get one of the later Trails, but I hear there where going to be a remake of the first one. This almost comes as just gut feeling so Im excited.

Amazon already shipped my copy (nobody is bringing this game here) so I will have to wait a week... but Im really excited for this game.

My copy just shipped! I still haven't finished the demo, 8 hours in.

SONS

OF MY BITCHES

I have no time for this. Loved the original on Vita (or was it PSP?). This is only that's would definitely benefit from a proper remake.

So, I have to play the main series or it is self contained?

This is a remake of the very first Trails games. The first in the timeline. There have been four story arcs in Trails game all taking place in different locations. Characters from previous arcs show up in later arc as cameos and such. The arcs are kinda self contained because they each have a new set of main characters with a story to tell and new villains in a new location to learn about. The latest story arc takes place in the country of Calvard with the MC being Van Arkride. You hear about Calvard in Trails in the sky.

I'll add to that. Basically each subseries (Sky, Cold Steel, etc) takes place in different countries of the Zemuria continent. Each game always mentions other countries; this makes the world feel united.
