Trails in the Sky 1st (Remake of Trails in the Sky) Announced - 2025

Bought the original version, I cannot get past slotting the magic or whatever at the very beginning. I don't understand what the game wants me to do, all the system-specific wordings are super confusing.
At the desk you speak with the person and they give you a bunch of "gems."

If you talk to the person at the counter you can then "open slots". You need a certain amount of each color for each character to open a slot.

Once you do that go into your character menus and go to orbments. Slot a gem into the open slot you opened up. I gave Josh black and Estelle blue. That way she can heal, and I think Josh can only take black in his first initial open slot.

Then talk to the person at the counter.

You will now know how to slot and unslot magic as well as how to open more slots later to equip more magic.

It's pretty simple but you need to read…

In addition to what was already said, regarding the terminology:
  • Septium are crystals that contain the power of elements (fire, wind, etc).
  • The power extracted from septium crystals is called orbal energy.
  • Sepith are small fragments of septium (sometimes they are called septium fragments).
  • Quartz are synthetized circuits made out of many sepith fused together. They make it easy to use orbal energy.
  • Orbments are devices that use quartz, converting their potential orbal energy into something physical: heating a stove, powering a turbine, etc.
  • Combat orbments are devices that use quartz to enable you to cast orbal arts ("magic" in Trails).
So if a character says something like "slot in your quartz in your combat orbment to use orbal arts", it should make more sense now.

Seems like September is the release month. It's expected since Falcom usually release their games in September, end of their FY iirc.

It honestly feels like the industry is just relying on remakes and remasters. 🤔
Falcom is putting out new titles in their 2 big series (Trails and Ys) on a consistent basis, my man...

Regardless, this remake is needed in order to onboard new players into the Trails series.

Yeah, I think for a series like this that is a continuing story, you need to go back and make everything available on modern platforms. If they get the first three (Liberl Arc) on PS5 in some form, the whole story can be played from there.

This serie need commitment no roundabout it. If someone saying that "Yyou don't need to play all games", that person couldn't really catch the essence of Trail games. Sorry it sounds like a "gatekeeping" or whatever but it is simply the fact about this serie. Of course you can play any game whenever you want but for Trails games you will be %99 percent clueless.

So when you look at this way, it may seem understandable for Falcom to Remake the first game. I'm a big, hardcore fan so I love old Trails of The Sky games, I can even play them this moment without zero complain but let's face it: People are not like me and nowadays you mostly capture gamers through graphics.

Yeah, I'm not complaining one bit. Just one concern: When you bring more people to niche games, developers tend to change in some bad ways to appeal for everybody. I hope it will not come to that.

I'm a Trails superfan and think it's great that they are remaking Sky 1, but I really hope they plan on remaking 2 & 3 as well and announce those remakes before 1 is released.

Sky 1 and 2 are essentially one game split into two and you're going to have a lot of new players wanting to continue the story and it's going to be quite jarring to go from the Sky 1 remake to the original Sky 2, if that game isn't remade.

I've purchased the first few Trials games on PSP (Vita?) back in the day and every time I want to get into the series, it feels like another title is releasing. It's just far too daunting. It reminds me of the Yakuza series, which I love, but am completely exhausted by Sega's release cadence.

I have no info but I think you are safe. They will remake sky 2 and 3.

If you read opinions online and go back far enough you always get lots of sky lots of azure mentioned as one of the best games in the series.

This company is known for making some odd moves but I think without a doubt they will want to proceed with the sky remakes. The reason is simple. As you mentioned, these games require dedication to fully appreciate and sky series is so old it is past barrier to entry almost to gatekeeping. They want to keep these games going so imho they will bring the sky games all up to date in some way. These will be brought forward not just for their individual revenue but for the health of the overall catalog.

I think they will remake them but they have to see how well the games sells first. If it bombs then of course they wont continue doing it.

A couple of weeks ago I saw a "Trail of..." game for the PS4, and wanted to give it a try.

I totally forgot they were going to remake this. I will be sure to get a copy of its physical release when it launches!

Remaking SC is no brainer. Lots of assets, characters and locations are re-used, so it's going to happen for sure.

I'm more worried about these remakes slowing down the release of new Trails games. I get why they are doing these remakes, but I would prefer they focus on releasing new games so I can see the end of the series before I croak.
