Lol, they did everything they could to bury what's arguably the best game in the showcase.

Whatever. I'm buying it. Super cool that they're doing this - Trails in the Sky could really use some sprucing up because while I like the original game, it is sloooooooooowwwwwwwwww.

Looks smooth. It's about everything we can hope for, really. I will miss the many, many faces of Estelle - peak expressiveness in those old portraits. I'm also apprehensive about modern Falcom fucking up the soundtrack, but these games are a known quantity now so we can just swap the songs if need be (hopefully the track placement is good enough to make that easy...). I checked the Japanese Nintendo Direct and the the background piece sounds like a Sonoda instrumental arrange of Hoshi no Arika (although the orchestral strings near the end had me second guessing it's him - sounds more like Jindo?)

Really cool that the localization seems to be based off XSeed's. Those guys always went above and beyond.

Also, it's been said, but this was really needed. The original Trails in the Sky is tough to play, and the first act of the game is slow and boring as molasses. The second act is better, and the third great, but man that start is ugggh. The original never really gets to fun to play either. Your abilities in combat are so constrained.

NO FREAKING WAY. I know a remake/remaster was hinted but I never thought the quality of it would be this high. I wonder if we can assume all the Sky games will get remade.

Same I thought this was just going to be some HD sprites type thing. I didn't think for one second they would go this hard with it.

I would have preferred the SE 2D-HD style or whatever it's called. Well, hopefully they won't f it up.

I am also not sure I want action combat in this game, we will see how it turns out.

I love 2D-HD stuff too, but seriously this looks SOOO much better in motion in 3D than what they could have done with a 2D engine

I've hearing rumors, but WOW! Glad to finally see the rumors confirmed, looks very good. Looks like it's taking some cues from the recent entries combat wise too, which is nice to see!

I kind of dig the 2DHD look for the old games. But I do see how folks could like the modern engine better.

I wonder if that game is running on the same engine as Daybreak since it looks so much better visually when it comes to environments. They got the character models looking great but the environments was thier weak point

I don't mind 2dHD games but for Trails a game that really relies on building up this world and the cities/towns/people I just feel like 3D really helps bring it all to life in ways that 2D just can't do.

I didn't realize Falcom had the people to develop 2 of these types of games at the same time. Anyone more knowledgeable able to guess that it may be the YS team?

Falcom out doing themselves with this it seems. Looks substantially better than the original, and visually more striking than Trails Through Daybreak II.

On one hand that's true. On the other hand their background textures have been just mid. I kind of get a better vibe if the world with the 2D Trails.

But again, that's probably more of a "me" thing.

I would love for them to remake the rest after this one. Never played it so this is tempting.
No reason for them not to remake at least TitS 2nd and 3rd using this same engine, unless for some reason this bombs hard (I can't imagine that happening personally).

I wonder if this will be the first simultaneous worldwide release for Trails. That there's English screenshots and apparently based on an existing translation bodes well.

Yea, no chance this will bomb. Trails fans are some of the most dedicated out there. They will support this game in droves.

I'm planning on buying it at least twice (Switch and PC). I told my son that if he wants to keep living at home, he's required to play it. I was only half joking.

I'll pick it up on PSN and Steam most likely

I usually get them first on Steam and on PSN later (I plan to eventually replay the series because I love it & to get trophies) during sales

I will buy every version that they release. Hopefully there'll be a nice Collector's Edition.

The shading and textures in the character models, the overall lightning in the evironment and the particles during battle look next gen to me, are we sure this is a Nintendo Switch game?

FC coming out means SC is pretty much guaranteed. Not sure if they are going to remake 3...

I am at the beginning of Azure, and at this rate, the remakes will catch up with me before long. lol... :(
Given Reverie exists, remaking Zero/Azure should theoretically be much easier than remaking Sky 1-3.

I was just think to myself I wish I had a good fantasy jrpg to play none of this modern bs.

Based Dad.
I wouldn't even joke with him like that, except that I know his tastes in games (and RPGs in general) and I've been trying to get him to play the original version of this game for years because I know he'll absolutely love it. He liked the look and feel of Daybreak, but didn't want to start without playing the previous games first, and he didn't want to play the previous games because they were "too old".

Now the boy has no excuses.
