Can't wait to deal with Dio's Olivier's shenanigans again.
I imagine the second game will at least get a remake treatment.I would love for them to remake the rest after this one. Never played it so this is tempting.

A reaction from Japanese Trails fan
She said she was really surprised because it's too sudden lolehh honto da... ehhhhhhhhhhh!!? lol
This looks much better than Daybreak. Something about that game's colors just looked washed out. With this the colors look more deep and vibrant. Plus it has a more cell-shaded look that makes it pop.Looks like they've made some good improvements with their new engine. Both the characters and the environment look better than in Trails through Daybreak. The same goes for the VFX for spells, etc.

longer trailer
When that music crescendo hits... damn this is gonna be something special.
Interestingly, I contacted NIS America regarding the remake and was told by a public relations representative that they're not the distributor.
It's also worth noting that "Nihon Falcom" is listed in the western Nintendo Direct video where the publisher is normally listed. Could Falcom be publishing this worldwide on their own?
Looks like NIS America won't be the publisher for the remake in the West.
Might be a timed exclusive for the Switch based on this rather odd comment by Falcom. It would be a shame if true, since this remake has the potential to bring in a bunch of new fans. IMO, they should try their hardest to release it simultaneously on as many platforms as possible.PS5 too?

Like I said, they need to get this release right since it will be an entry point in the Trails series for many new fans. Having it released just on the Switch is them fumbling it. If they can't do it themselves because they're focusing on one platform at a time, then they should find a publishing partner which can help with getting the ports out for the other platforms (PS and PC) in a timely manner.AFAIK, Falcom always port their game on their own. I agree, but will make the counterpoint that there are almost 150 million Nintendo Switches out there - and Falcom probably has the data to know what percentage of their games are sold on the Switch. I would say that, especially in Japan, releasing only on the Switch is the safest bet if you're just going to focus on one console. Partnering with a publisher just to do a simultaneous release on PlayStation and PC means paying out a percentage of ALL your game's sales, and that's something they may not want to do (or be in a position to do). There may also be a deal in place with Nintendo to make it an exclusive or timed exclusive. I guess time will tell, we just don't have all the details at the moment.Having it released just on the Switch is them fumbling it.
Your counterpoint is good and initially those were my thoughts as well considering there's 30M Switch out there in Japan so it would makes sense to release it there first due to the larger installed base. Surprisingly though their other big JRPG which released last year in Japan (e.g. Ys 10 Nordics) sold better on PlayStation than on the Switch, which was quite a surprising result for even Falcom themselves. On the second and third point, I agree, we don't have enough details to understand all the implications that these deals can have on their business. I'm still a bit dumbfounded though since they have such a great opportunity to make this JRPG IP explode in popularity if they just make the right publishing decisions.I agree, but will make the counterpoint that there are almost 150 million Nintendo Switches out there - and Falcom probably has the data to know what percentage of their games are sold on the Switch. Were the sales of Ys X: Nordics as expected? In the past you did say that "development resources were limited, which narrows development focus to certain platforms." However, this time you have resources to release on multiple hardware. Focusing on the Switch, did you have an idea as to how to speed up the development process?
Kondo: Regarding sales numbers, we are refraining from announcing exact numbers, but in terms of percentages, PS5 is about 50%, Switch is about 30%, and PS4 around 20%. At the planning stage the PS5 had not yet been released, but we imagined it would be a 50-50 split between the PS and Switch, but the results are actually different.

What is a sizzle reel?
As reported by GNN, Kondo mentioned at a recent event for Asian media that Trails in the Sky the 1st's trailer "was of such a high quality that some players even suspected it was outsourced to other manufacturers." He goes on to assure fans that both the game and videos associated with it are "100% produced in-house by Nihon Falcom."
Kondo doesn't go into a lot of detail about the remake, but he does comment that it will be a "bright and cheerful entry that fully depicts the vitality and charisma of protagonist Estelle." Nihon Falcom's representative hopes that the game will offer an attractive entry point for those who are interested in the Trails/The Legend of Heroes series but don't know where to start.
Even if Falcom only develops a Switch version, the western release will undoubtedly have other platforms. This is how they worked until recently. They program a base version, like PS4, and NIS handles the port to Switch/PS5.That's super lame considering all the other titles they've released on the platform….
Not long after the remake and its beautiful trailer were made public, Nihon Falcom's CEO Toshihiro Kondo made a public comment assuring fans that the game is being developed 100% in-house. This was apparently prompted by people speculating that the bright and bubbly anime-style graphics might have been outsourced to another company.
Commenting further on the topic in a recent interview with Dengeki Online, Kondo mentioned that, "We've received a large number of comments along the lines of, "The graphics are unlike Falcom in a good way," and we're not really sure if we should take it as a good thing or a bad thing (laughs)."
Kondo also gave some insight into why the graphical style looks so different in The Legend of Heroes: Trails in the Sky the 1st. "During the development process, we did away with our usual method of direction, and gave each of our designers a single instruction – to design things in a way that would make Estelle's energy and the scenic beauty of Liberl Kingdom pop right through the screen. As I watched them work, I noticed how vibrant the colors and images looked even when viewed from a distance. The trailer we put out was the result of doing things this way."
Nihon Falcom's president says that the team purposely went for an atmosphere that feels a bit different from the usual Trails series look. He hopes that The Legend of Heroes: Trails in the Sky the 1st will become an attractive and easy-to-pick up entry into both the series and the RPG genre as a whole.
Yes it is most impressive and that is the biggest strenght of Trails series. I love this connectivity and ongoing story so much that I cannot describe. Its so impressive to me that they managed to keep this on-going storyline going in this world for so long.
Correct, this is a remake of the very first game in the series. When people say "start at the beginning", they're talking about this game specifically.Great, you can start on this one right? Like this can be first trails game without missing anything?
When you read about these people laugh at you when you say you don't have time to start from the beginning. They say the games are a commitment and you will not get the full benefit of any game unless you play from the start.
So this is the start right? I can finally start these with a "new" game. I can't wait. Only problem is I'll be waiting on sky 2 and 3 to re-release after this.
It's the right start, the issue is you will have to wait years for the potential release of the next few remakes If you really don't want to deal with the older 2d games in the series. That's assuming they even remaster them up to Cold Steel which we have no idea if they will.Great, you can start on this one right? Like this can be first trails game without missing anything?
