Transformers: Devastation |OT| Rising in Disguise

IIRC I can't equip stuff yet, will dig around in the menus a bit.

Oh are you talking about the first Devastator fight really early in the level? He has way less aggressive attacks at that point iirc. Just his swing and smash, Sometimes he takes out his gun but that's easy to avoid as long as you're on the move. Main thing is to focus on his head as much as you can if you want to maximize damage, but if you want to stick behind him and dodge between his legs to slowly wear him down, that works too.

Best advice is: Don't look at his health meter when fighting. It's a huge psychological deterrent. If you just focus on fighting him, it'll be over before you know it. :P

Yeah mechanically it's not hard, it's just taking forever. I just thought because I was doing so little damage that there might have been some sort of gimmick to the fight that I was missing.

Nah it just takes forever. Do the XXXXY combo, vehicle smash, and try to get as much witch-time as possible.

Had the same issue. Finally said fuck it, restarted on normal. Boy is it much easy. I can finally make progress.

May be a dumb question, but how can you view a weapons rarity, I see the rarity on the summary page when I go to the Ark, but when I am at the equip scree inside the ark, I must be blind as I don't see rare/uncommon/common anywhere.

Thanks

I think Rare/Uncommon/Common only applies to the drop itself, to indicate how good it has the potential to be. When the weapon is identified, the only things which matter in practical terms are the the rank and the level of the weapon.

Man I should stop reading this thread, having to wait till friday for my PS4 version sucks.

Anyone planning on going for the Platinum trophy here? Any idea how hard it is?

Started it this morning, and put maybe an hour to an hour and a half into it. It's pretty fun/good. I don't have Transformers nostalgia, though.

I just
beat Megatron, and discovered that there's an underground ship
. Not sure of how far I am.

The sound seems pretty low on X1.

Not far at all. That's like halfway through Chapter 1 out of 7 chapters.

Does anyone have a fix for the game to go over 1920x1080?

Not supporting arbitrary resolutions on 2015.... Durante's sad.

Playing on Hard diff. Just got a Rank-A weapon that starts with 1000 atk dmg. Pretty much gonna be my main stay til I get more weapons :V

I've been blowing through the game using the Photon Disruptor, barely meleeing at all, chapter 5 now -- And I realized this is a preorder bonus weapon. I wonder if it's OP and I've basically been cheating.

Damn. Is there any way to get a DLC weapon again if you've synthed it?

I have been using the Photon Disruptor as well. It is easily the best ranged weapon i have right now. I also have a 1400 damage hammer, so my melee is no joke right now either.

Anyone got any Grimlock strats aside from his quick dash in Dino mode? Been really enjoying his gameplay style.
I posted about him a bit earlier. I'll just quote myself:

I'm really loving Grimlock right now. His dino mode is just so versatile. You can get to top speed in a snap by mashing B, do a charge attack instantly by tapping B once then attacking, platform with better control than the other characters' vehicle modes, pick up cars without transforming, save ammo by using your fire breath, attack with your grapple special, and pop enemies into the air with the XYX -> transform combo, ending in dino mode if you do a follow up attack immediately or robot mode if you wait for a second. His only real drawbacks as far as I can tell are an initial lack of ranged attack power and the fact that he starts with just one tech slot.

Protip: Grimlock can do his aerial butt slam from dino mode by jumping into the air and tapping dodge once without holding a direction. Just another cool feature I thought to look for that Platinum had the foresight to put in.

Btw, it turns out some of those floating purple switch things I couldn't get to work before are activated with fire.

Honestly, the other characters feel slightly limited compared to Grimlock, just because his alt mode is so versatile and he gets that extra counter. (Tap B right after dodging in either mode to do a throw.)

Anyone found a way to cancel out of the recovery animation for transformation attacks? Don't seem to be able to quick-dodge out of it.

Wish there was some camera lock-on but it's not totally necessary

Thank ya much! That's great to know. :)

You can get some truly busted SS rank weapons by playing Prime difficulty and synthesizing them with the rights perks. 7k DMG shotgun that crits constantly and fires fast....

I've been SS ranking the challenge missions on Prime with that and while some of them are still relatively challenging it's clear that balance wasn't their primary concern when coming up with this weapon upgrading system. It's fun though!

I'm still limited to Commander, but I got this truly diabolical flame sword in mission 2. 5 slots, upgraded with +crit, +attack (x2), +attack speed, +burn. Damage is around 2000 if I'm remembering right, and it swings super fast. Almost matches my ridiculous shock hammer's damage per second. Not bad at all for an early-game weapon.

Apologies if this has been asked, what's the replay value like? Once you complete it is worth going back?
The loot system and combat system add lots of replay value, plus the levels are packed with secrets. Not just collectibles, but hidden item caches and secret missions as well.

Also, the character variety counts for a lot. Each of the characters feels different than the others. Bumblebee is small and really zippy, Prime is more of a power character (but still quite fast depending on your weapon), Grimlock's dino mode offers a lot more options than the other characters' alt modes, etc.

Edit: I forgot to add that there's a mission mode with 50 missions total. I haven't touched it yet because I'm still making my way through story mode.

Beat the game in two sittings, but I still think it was worth $50. Can't wait to go through as all the other Autobots and get rekt on higher difficulties. Wonder if there will be any more DLC besides the preorder stuff.

Yeah, I'm not that far in but it seems like a more extreme version of MGR's upgrading where most fights go way faster with upgraded damage.

At least it should make it easier to cheese.stuff for achievements. :P.

You unlock Magnus by beating Commander which you in turn need to clear to unlock Prime. Prime enemies are about twice as fast, gets a bit bonkers during some of the gauntlet type challenges where they throw 3 bosses at you at the same time hah!

Any tips for Magnus? I'm getting ganked on the first encounter. My damage output is total shit. Using an A rank sword that's level 12 or so. Just a matter of upgrading it more, or should I be grinding for S rank weapons?

Hmm, I can't quite remember what kind of weapon I was using by that point but I would recommend synthesizing your best weapon and putting good perks on it like ATK+ and CRIT+. Get some decent damage going because yeah, these guys have way more health on top of being much more aggressive.

Has anyone figured out what the secret sauce to reliably countering after Focus is?

The description is really general, but it doesn't work 100% of the time and I can't really tell how you have to use Focus to do it consistently.

What perks?

Just a heads up that various collectibles show up in different areas depending on the chapter you're playing; for example the area next to the bridge will have 2 collectables when you reach them in Ch. 3 or 4.

Apologies if this has been asked, what's the replay value like? Once you complete it is worth going back?

Yup it's worth going back as the higher difficulties offer a nice challenge, in addition the collectables are worth it mainly for the various TF art you can unlock.

His form in this is fine but it's no pistol.

They let Shockwave turn into a 'fictional' pistol, at the very least have Megs turn into one just for the heck of it :P

Hearing Peter Cullen and Frank Welker like this feels like I have been transported back over 20 years renting Transformers VHS tapes from Blockbuster.

Back to another time in a blink of an eye.

So here's a little cool thing; once you've beaten the game you unlock more stuff in the Main menu's Collection menu.
Among these is a character gallery, highlighting the enemies will play their respective battle theme

any skins besides dlc?
or any other new moves or items that break the game?
platinum games always have game breaking stuff locked behind

Only played a good portion of the first Chapter -- up to the boss with two construction guys (sorry, not well versed on Transformers lore, I forgot their names), the levels seem to be shockingly open ended, their are a bunch of paths I didn't even take, I was getting a little lost in trying to mentally map out the city -- which is definitely a good thing.

What fun is that?...I have that gun to but I'm good enough not to have to resort to spamming it. Get gud.

The first time I realized that headshots are actually a thing in this game blew my mind

Best feeling it the world is getting dragged/slammed by Megatron, getting up and shooting him in the face while he's laughing. Get vehicle'd, son

I hated guns at first just because the base ones seemed kind of useless and a gimmick for flying enemies at the beginning, but once I got better guns (like the photon disruptor) I loved incorporating them into fights. Gonna love digging in to the combat and getting better/learning more

Lol, the UI has some really annoying quirks. Earlier I was playing some Challenge Missions, and after beating one in Commander, I beat it in Warrior, and then in Scout. When I continued the story mode later, I was shocked to find chapter 5 super duper insanely easy. I checked the chapter select and found to my horror that I had beaten it in Scout difficulty, because somehow the difficulty I selected to play a Challenge Mission in carries over to the normal game settings. Wtf? :P

Replayed chapter 5 on Commander and it was so much more satisfying. The Shockwave fight was super cool in Commander since his attacks will actually kill you, he uses his gun mode much more aggressively even in his first form, and he does the clone splitting later on. SO GOOD. <3
