Just on a human level, I fucking love Mark. Dude produced my favorite album of all time and always seems like the most rational and fun member:

My man! Thanks for jogging the memory bank. I can't even count the number of times my friends and I listened to this album when we were younger.

EDIT: Also, Tom4ever

I really think Mark could be a great singer/songwriter if he keeps to it. He has cart-blanche at this point to do whatever he wants. I'd gladly listen to his material as the years go on.

He cited Jimmy Eat World as one of his favorite bands. This was back in 1999 before JEW blew up in 2001.

Bullshitter.
How is it bullshit? Just because Jimmy Eat World 'blew up' in 2001 doesn't mean that they weren't around before then. Plenty of bands that are big now were around for a few years before anyone heard of them. It's perfectly plausible for DeLonge to be a fan of JEW before they blew up in 2001. Just like how Hayley Williams was a fan of You Me At Six before they blew up. Just because you hadn't heard of them doesn't mean they haven't.

In regards to the news, I'm so confused as to what to believe. Barker and Hoppus are saying one thing while DeLonge is saying another. We need to see a solid press release from both parties if we're going to get any sort of clarification. That said, while DeLonge leaving blink would be a blow, a Skiba/Barker/Hoppus set-up sounds too good to pass up. And it also means DeLonge can focus once more on AVA. Their latest album is brilliant, and returns to form akin to WDNTW. This news is one of those double-edged stories. Only time will tell as to what happens regarding blink.

I hope that Mark and Travis just throw somebody else in to take Tom's place. Screw him. I never liked him. Even when I was a teenager and didn't like anyone, I didn't like him even more.

Tom comes across as rather immature in his lyrics. No surprise.

Yeah, this isn't too bad news. I always felt that Tom was a whiny douchebag and had that feeling solidified when I saw AVA support Foo Fighters in Hyde Park a few years ago. Guy wanted to stop the show so he could talk about the environment. I'm pretty sure that I don't need to tell you that a massive open-air show leaves quite the carbon footprint so when we weren't getting songs screeched at us, we were getting lectured by a hypocrite.

And also, the start of his part in Miss You was awful.... "WHERE ARE YOOOO? AND OIM SO SORE-Y".

I think I would cringe to death if I had to endure "Breathe" live.

Tom is going to Tom. He's been stuck in his Angels and Airwaves stuff. Clearly he has his own sound he wants to do. And in some ways, it's kind of why the new Blink album sounded so jarring. Just feels like the guy doesn't want to be there, or work with them creatively.

So he should just leave.

Also at this point, I would not be opposed to Mark and Travis continuing Blink-182 without him. They didn't tour or create music under that name, out of respect of the band not being whole. But Tom is continuing to be a major asshole, and doesn't respect them or the band. So fuck it. They should be able to move on without him.

From the interview:

Travis Barker: You don't even have the balls to call your bandmates and tell them you're not going to record or do anything Blink-related. You have your manager do it. Everyone should know what the story is with him and it's been years with it. When we did get back together after my plane crash, we only got back together, I don't know, maybe because I almost died. But he didn't even listen to mixes or masterings from that record. He didn't even care about it.

What a fuckin asshole. Just wow. No wonder the new album was so jarring. Dude basically wasn't even apart of the band.

I think you misunderstood his post. Tom said he hated Emo, yet had previously cited Jimmy Eat World as one of his favorite bands.

So Tom wrote most of Neighborhoods? I actually quite like that album, it moved the band in a proto-Cure which I really enjoyed. He sounds like a not so great person though.

Never liked their music, but Tom is into UFO shit now. He was on Coast to Coast AM in December talking about a project he's been working on and apparently filmed a UFO somewhere. He's always been a douche from what I understand, and his live performance always left a lot to be desired, I must say.

Yes. This guy right here, this guy.

I've seen AvA a couple of times, once festival once small gig, both times Tom stopped at one point to talk about earth/space/adventures/bullshit. I liked their music but jesus Tom. Also, find videos of tom doing I Miss You or any blink stuff when with AvA, I think he's done it in the intro to The Adventure or something before, and it sounded fucking horrible.

Fuck it, just get him out of the way and continue to do Blink or whatever the shit Mark and Travis want to do together. I'm not 15 anymore so I can cope with it this time round, it really does sound like the same old stupid story as last time. I'm just happy they got back together and made music for long enough for me to actually see them this time. Caught them on the Neighborhoods tour and thought they totally killed it at the show I went to, so now I can have peace, though I did see them at a festival the year before on their initial reunion run and thought they were a bit lacking that time round, felt a bit forced all their onstange banter but second time it was like they'd found themselves again.

Haven't really been into this band since grade school, as I just grew out of that type of music. But it's a shame that the reunion seems like it didn't last long, at least for those who are still fans.
I always found it kind of weird that Tom is apparently the stuck up douchey one of the group, considering in their early days he came off as the goofy carefree one. Guess he just got worse over time or something.

Late 90's jimmy eat world is completely different to what most people would consider emo these days, so maybe he was talking about what emo has turned into over the last decade or so. Although I haven't read the interview so I can't really say what he was getting at.

Mark has always been my favourite but after I found out that he wrote songs for mcbusted I don't know what to think anymore.

Quoted for truth. I don't think most people realize how drastically the term changed post-2000.

Tom is such an asshole. The new AVA album is pretty good, though. So, if he wants to do more of that shit, more power to him.

Fuck him for selfishly holding Mark and Travis back though.

Tru this but really the only thing good about Blink now is Travis. Tom and Mark cant sing for shit live and the last 2 Blink records sounded like crap AVA albums.

This was bound to happen and i'm all for it. Travis is always working with new artists, I've come around to AVA after playing Love part 2 to death but not sure what Mark would do.

Although they're getting in the vocalist from Alkaline trio in to cover Tom for the next few shows? Anyone know anything about him? I've never listened to them before.

Skiba working with Hoppus & Barker could be fucking magic, I really hope they end up in the studio together, even if it's just for a quick EP.

Let Tom go do his new thing, he was never back on the Blink 182 wagon even after the reunion. I'd love another +44 record too but I expect everyone has moved on too far.

I was watching (or maybe reading) and interview with him where he said he hated emo bands. I just though "you're the entire reason emo in its current state exists, and all the worst parts of it are influenced directly by you." Those Blink 182 inspired vocals made one of the worst genres of rock ever.

What?

He had Jimmy Eat World play at his wedding and they are one of his favourite bands. Hating emo but loving one of the biggest emo acts would be weird.

They also toured with Saves The Day and his whole BoxCar Racer thing had tons of emo influences.

Also, everyone giving MCS love in this thread are now my favourite Gaffers.

I wish I could see Commit This To Memory played live in full.

He's still goofy and carefree. It's more that he sucks at saying anything honest that isn't immediately goofy and carefree.

Matt Skiba replacing him sounds really weird to me. But now I may listen to Blink again in more than 15 18 (holy fuck its 2015!) years. Still, seems like a weird match. I wonder if he's gonna sing or just play guitar.

Anyway need more Alk3. Prolly my favorite band.
Thanks i will do, any albums in particular?

Home time music sorted.

From Here To Infirmary
Goddamnit
Maybe I'll catch fire.
Crimson
I like Agony and Irony but others don't.
If you can find the demo for Good Mourning go for it. To me its much better than the studio release, less synth and processed vocals.

The new stuff is okay, This Addiction wasn't my favorite but I like the newest album better.

Also his side project Heavens was okay.

They should just make it permanent and kick him out of the band. He's not worth it.

They can't he owns part of the band and rights to songs. He could block them from using the material if he wanted to. They are probably trying to use this to get him to either sale his share or sign a contract letting them do what they want and designating his share of the revenue.

I had no idea Blink was still making music. And that Rolling Stone is interested in them.

Good for those guys.

Dude's basically making it his mission to completely dismantle blink. If he can't be in it, no one will.

.

How do you figure?
If they are going to go public and talk shit, should he not say anything?
How is that a mission to dismantle Blink?

It's likely Tom doesn't appreciate the 2 vs. 1 battle that's going on right now so he's throwing out an old issue to try and cause a rift between Mark and Travis. The dude comes off as a self-righteous douche so it wouldn't surprise me if his end-goal is to try and put the brakes on blink since he's been ousted.

Tom is a dick now, he used to be a big part of my childhood but since 2009 they have made ONE album and a 5 song EP. all because Tom was just in it for the money to fund his shitty angel and airwaves

I hope Mark and Travis can now make music again without tom holding them back.

Yeah, I figured he was referring to the stuff that for some reason came to be called Emo. Emo is a '90s thing to me too.
