Triangle Strategy port announced for Meta Quest VR

Wow, that's pretty crazy. One of my favorite games of all time. If it's on Quest 2, I might have to get it just for the novelty of it. I honestly wouldn't want to wear a headset for this game but it's still cool.

this is probably the most useless use of vr yet but I guess its cool if all you have is a quest? quest should have a tv out for flat console play lol. that would be innovative! lol :messenger_tears_of_joy:

No PS5 and PVR2 version at sight ffs.

If you played 2 minutes of Demeo you would understand how it is actually amazing to play such games in VR.

Dude these diorama style games are so cool in VR. Can't wait for this.

In VR????

Yes! YES! YES!!! Finally! I have been wanting more RPG, especially strategy RPG games to come to VR for so long. VR is mostly thought of as having a first-person perspective, but it looks amazing with third person games. Especially, when it is in an isometric view. I could easily see Civilization 7, the upcoming Dragon Quest 3 HD2D remake, and the My Sims remaster fitting well on the Quest platform. I'm still waiting for an official mixed reality Yugioh game from Konami.

Kinda random and not really the type of VR conversion that would make me double dip, but still cool I guess specially for people who haven't played it before.

Is the game any good? I'll pick it up on Quest if so.

Best game Square has put out since like Nier Automata IMO. Fun combat and an engaging story with good characters and a slightly more mature writing than we usually get from JRPG, also some of the best decision making in any game I've played.

That said it's not for everyone mainly because it's VERY story heavy, specially early on, so expect to spend your first 3-4 hours with the game mostly reading through dialogue

That's not bad actually. The only VR game that I would ever be interested in. Excellent game and a new way to experience it. Feels like it could breathe new life into a hidden gem, and it looks really cool in VR. Good stuff, ngl. Square starting to make some better moves I hope.

The novelty will wear off before you reach your first battle (aka after like 45 minutes of boring dialog scenes)

If it's not fun in VR, it's not fun flat either.

TBS/SRPGs are amazing in VR. Pretty much everything is though, but usually the things you expect would be boring or not great end up being actually incredible.

Pinball is another thing that in VR is absolutely head and shoulders above the flat console/handheld experience.

Interesting but they better adapt the controls to VR instead of just making you waggle a cursor. Demeo has already set the standard for games like these in VR.

Will it be available on Steam?
I hope so, i don't wanna buy it on some Meta Quest store or something.

It currently appears to be funded by Meta since their logo is all over it. It is running directly on the headsets - no PC or wires needed.

If you want something to play on your PC there's plenty of similar games you can get running from this

But there's nothing wrong with the Meta store. Having the ability to play totally wireless and with no PC & PC issues is very useful.

The mixed reality mode looks great. Videos didn't really show it off too well, but that screenshot from the pre-order page looks nice.

Fuck yeah

This might be the best SRPG of all time in its best mode.

Man, I wish this was coming to PSVR2. VR needs more of these conversions. Studios need to realize that making the headset an extension of the camera is cool and most VR gamers would happily buy such games if priced appropriately.

Non-VR gamers don't understand how fun it is to simply be inside the game world. The headset itself isn't uncomfortable because we're used to wearing it. This game would be chill as F for sit-down VR.

Hmm, what if they made a fucking sequel instead?

I imagine that would be handled by the core team, not some VR porting studio. Different projects with different people.

Now if they made Triangle Strategy 2 VR Meta Store exclusive that would be quite the bold move indeed. But that's not what happened here, when games are ported the team that makes the games isn't the team doing the porting.

I was about to post this, glad I searched first. What a great fit for VR. Not all VR experiences need to force the player to embody the characters. We need to see more ports like this.

The slow pacing of the Final Fantasy Tactics games never bothered me. I look forward to playing this in mixed reality the most though.
If you buying, make sure to send that referral link 😁 pre-order discount is 13%, but I don't like to support the practice of buying before seeing the game.

I know that TS has painfully passed a million after several months. The PC version didn't do much either. Okay, it's not SquarEnix's best-seller, and there's little chance - for now - of seeing a sequel.

But objectively speaking, it can't have cost much to make this one. Octopath 2 certainly cost more to make. And that's a real shame, because Triangle is a really addictive tactical game.
