Deadpool VR Announced | Summer Game Fest 2025

Agreed, there was no way Sony was ever going to invest resources to make a game like this for PSVR2. They shouldn't have bothered.

I just expected them to money hat more games tbh. They don't necessarily have to make them.
But I got the psvr2 and quest3 now so it's kinda whatever. Now I just gotta decide where to play the multiplats.

8/10

So, well done, Twisted Pixel and Meta, as you nailed the humour and the type of experience Deadpool needed to be in VR. Don't expect smart puzzles and gadgets here, as this is an upfront, unapologetic massacre, and it's the new Quest game you'll want to show your friends this Christmas (as long as they're 18+, though there's a Kidpool mode, mind you).

I've read about 12 reviews and overall seems to be fun, bloody as hell, and in character for sure. Big budget AAA feel is one thing noted often.

The main problems seem fixable, the dialogue for non Deadpool fans can get annoying and their are some minor performance issues later in the game. Fixable stuff. Seems like a 8/10 game if you like the character.

Isn't this game exclusive to quest 3?

Yes. And even the APK piracy thing won't work on Steam Frame because these games are built around Oculus drivers and their network game saves. It kinda works on Quest 2(because its oculus), but massive performance issues.

Btw, loving the music tracks they choose for this game. Hilarious.

Zuck, Valve is attempting to give VR a second shot in the arm. For the sake of the industry, stop gatekeeping and make Oculus games multiplatform or at least VR streaming ready. The same applies to Sony.

Hunger is awful... Just ask Kotaro Uchikoshi. Sooner or later they'll make a port.
They won't. This is another Meta first party game like Batman: Arkham Shadow and Asgard's Wrath 2.

On a side note, Deadpool VR got nominated for VR GOTY at the game awards. Is this the first time they nominate a game that hasn't been released? XD

I definitely support VR games. It's my favorite addition to the industry... the VR experience.

I'm telling you... Those awards shows are terrible... Worse than the MTV Video Music Awards.

Zuck funds the game from the beginning and he just gives every other VR platform the code? Wouldn't the bearer of this be Sony or Valve to reach out and buy something that was created from nothing?

I'd love for them all to reach out and come to an agreement. In a world where Sony puts helldivers on xbox and Phil puts Halo on Ps5, it doesn't sound that outlandish anymore. Granted Zuck can keep walling off everything since the others don't have much to give in return, but the VR market desperately needs to grow.

The big problem I see with that scenario is I don't see Sony even funding their IPs they already own for VR. They already have the best in the business names and don't use them.

Sounds interesting, I haven't checked out anything in VR in years at this point (that feels so sad to say, as I do enjoy it) and would certainly be interested in this, but I really have had enough of that character for my life, so probably going to pass on this. Or I dunno, maybe I can just crank the volume down?

Is Meta Quest just phone games on a helmet?
No. They are games specifically designed for the headset. Some of them are even first party developed, as Meta has around 8 studios, including Twisted Pixel, Camouflaj, Sanzaru Games, Armature Studios. Their games include a 60 hour action RPG called Asgard's Wrath 2 (The first one was a PCVR Meta Store exclusive), Batman Arkham Shadow (A canonical interquel set between Origins and Asylum, with another sequel allegedly in the works) and now this game.

My short review.

I'm playing on hard.

First impressions are it runs smooth in my first 3 hours of gameplay. Looks great.

It's a complete massacre. Extreme violence.

Gameplay was a mixed bag until I figured out what I was doing wrong. The first hour I missed something about blocking with both swords and it just made it a chore to play.

Hard is where the massacre feels fun and somewhat of a challenge. I do recommend practicing and constantly switching between swords and guns, that's the key. Swords are way more fun overall.

The comedy ranges from meh to great.

He's talking to someone on a radio. "Deadpool what's the situation?"

"Wish I could tell you, this guy controlling my head with the VR device is making me fucking dizzy." Or something. It lands well usually.

So far, the best meta superhero games look to fall like this Batman>>>Deadpool>>Ironman. And I loved Iron man so we're eating good.

This game is great. I played a couple hours last night with my nephew with streaming to Chromecast on the TV. We had a ton of fun. My nephew was killing them with swords and he looks down and says, "I have a head on my sword." And what do you know there was a head impaled on it.😅

It wasn't the heaviest of free move games, but make sure to have your VR legs before doing long sessions.
