He has subsequently tweeted that getting opposition research is no big deal, so he doesn't see why there's a fuss.
- Trump admin maintains he never knew about the meeting
- Trump Jr maintains that he did not tell Manafort and Kushner why the meeting was being arranged
- Russian government claims they have no idea who lawyer is (despite the fact that she represents numerous government officials)
- Between Sunday and today it was revealed the meeting was arranged by (and attended by) a close Trump family friend (who was staying in Trump tower at the time according to his own social media, which he's tried to wipe in the interim), at the behest of a Russian business man/musician who is also a close personal friend of Trump (he was in the guy's music video after meeting him at the 2013 Miss Universe pageant).
- The Trump family friend has since released an official statement saying he did arrange the meeting, and for whom.

Rob Goldstone is the Trump family friend, he as changed his Instagram to private since the story broke, but people found him checking into Trump tower on the day of the meeting on his Facebook. He organized the meeting at the request of Emin Agalarov, pop singer and son of a Russian billionaire, who's music video Trump appeared in back in 2013:

Whenever there's some huge leak of information from things like the DNC email hacks or the Sony hacks, the media focuses on the gossipy bullshit and people love it.

Like it does take two to collude.

Don Jr. Delivered the message he needed too at the meeting and he says so even if not meaning too.

Russians bring up sanctions. Oh My Dad is just an unelected citizen who cannot do anything if he gets elected that would be the time to talk sanctions

Donald Trump Jr., the president's son, has hired New York lawyer Alan Futerfas to represent him in connection with Russia-related investigations, the lawyer and Trump Jr.'s office said on Monday.

Futerfas, a sole practitioner who specializes in criminal defense, would not say when he was retained or whether he had any input into the statements Trump Jr. made over the weekend about a meeting with a Russian lawyer.

To be fair, there were probably people who thought they had gotten away with certain things, or that they were not or no longer under scrutiny.

It would just cause unnecessary suspicion if someone's name who'd never yet been mentioned in the probe all of a sudden hired a top drawer lawyer.

You alreadt did whatevwr it was you did, so the smarter play is to just sit quietly in a corner, watch, and react if needed.

Yeah, it's become clear why Jr. would risk such a meeting during the election. Agalarov know where the bodies are buried. You want to keep him happy. Hell, I even believe that Jr. didn't know who he was meeting with. Agalarov has enough pull to force a meeting no questions asked.

But the adoption stuff is actually much more directly linked to sanctions than the Hillary oppo and is in a way much more troubling. Classic trump move. Make things worse by lying and forgetting what you're lying about in the first place.
