Trump calls for ban on Muslim immigration

Was Hitler considered a clown by a significant portion of the German population? Yes, he was.
Indeed. The educated, non-batshit portion of the German population considered Hitler to be a joke. Reading newspaper articles from that period is very weird as you can see the gradual progression from optimism that the Nazis could never win, to disbelief, to fear, and then finally to the extinguishing of independent media.

Sad thing is most right wingers will probably agree with him and his ratings will somehow continue to trend up.

Not unconsitutional to have a religious test for immigration

What about your own citizens ?

And they already ask you for your religion when you want to move to the united states. Plus it's not easy AT ALL to get even a tourist visa to the US. You have to fill tons of forms and you need to show that you have enough money to not risk overstaying your visa and become an illegal.

I can't believe people really think that the government is just handing out Visas like flyers.

What Trump doesn't realize is that comments and exclusion like this could lead to radical violence more than immigration can. American Muslims are remarkably tolerant and progressive when compared to their counterparts in Britain, and I'm sure a lot of this is because of how well-integrated they are.

If Muslims are marginalized, as Trump would like, we're going to see more resentment and more unpatriotic sentiment.

Trump: "Things are going better than expected, the election is all but over, who knew they'd be this dumb?"

Trump: "Yes of course, I look forward to working with you again... Madam President."

Lol, I've been imagining the exact same parody.

Hmm, I can't see how Fiorina could have planned all of this...

Dems take the Whitehouse again, pretty much a lock.

Frankly, today's climate has me severely doubting that. Maybe it's how increasingly vocal and violent the rhetoric has become, but it's hard to not feel all the more terrified by the possibility of it going the other way.

Trump up five points among islamophobes and racist cowards. He brings a healthy dose of prejudice to politics.
He's bound to plateau at some point though, he's tapping that market like there's no tomorrow. I mean, what self-respecting xenophobe would still consider anyone else right now?

Why are people calling him a racist and shit? It's their own culture's fault for causing this stigma among the Western and civilized world. Trump acts accordingly. I support this decision.

Fox News: "GOP candidates slam Trump over Muslim ban"

Just look at the fear in Greta's eyes as she questions him about this. She knows they created this monster... and that there is nothing they can do about it.

Are we gonna hear about the next thing he says for a whole other year?
This is so exhausting and starting to get stressful.
The racial climate in this country is getting very heavy now. I don't ever remember growing up with this much tension.

We're very far from Trump being a real threat to win the Presidency, I don't think it's fair to attack moderates for treating Trump as a clown.

I'm curious how this woman voted before 2001 when it was homosexuals and other minorities on the GOP shitlist.

That's the thing. I don't have the highest respect for the rationality of the electorate after 9/11. The climate of this country after those attacks was literally insane - there was unity and patriotism, but God forbid you didn't toe the line. And I don't think we've managed to completely emerge from that trauma, as we're seemingly quick to forget the worst aspects of it.

Lets not forget that we invaded a country because Saddam was behind 9/11 and was developing nuclear weapons to attack us and Israel with, or to sell to terrorists to do so. And only a few voices in power had the balls to even speak against it. And then of course the torture - described as nothing more than college pranks by the usual suspects.

We give ourselves far too much credit if we somehow don't think we're capable of even worse.

Even as late as December 1944, a huge portion of the German people put their faith in Hitler. His rule actually seemed solidified by the later military disasters of the war. He was the chosen one who would lead the resistance against Bolshevism. The only real challenge to his authority came very late in the day from a relatively small group of military-nobility who felt that while they would go down in history as the villains who betrayed their leader, they had to do something to try to salvage the military situation. As soon as Hitler's survival was announced, their supporters throughout occupied Europe turned on them in submission to Hitler.

Very many people had a real, enduring, and fetishistic love or admiration for Adolf Hitler. From this he derived his authority as Führer. I feel compelled to relay this information where I see people rewriting history so that most Germans hated Hitler. It isn't accurate. They saw the treatment of Jews for a long time, and the claims that the Jews were 'resettled' somewhere in the East. People would lie to themselves that Hitler wasn't being told the full story by his generals. The end of this relationship began after Stalingrad, but it was not fully extinguished until the occupation.

Trump is a clown. Yes.

The rhetoric trump is getting to be vocal and violent is not a joke.

Care to explain the relevance?

Its not a lock, but its as close to one as it could be. He has royally pissed on just about every minority group to the point they may actually get out and vote as a statement even if they dont care about the other candidate running (likely Hilary). He also pissed off a ton of Women voters due to prior comments in his life and even some on the campaign trail. Trump is a lightning rod of hate that acts as a beacon to which I believe a lot of people will get out and vote to renounce this year. Its already starting to happen with the recent comments of Jebs financial backers. I think Trump would likely have to get like 70+% of the White male vote to even slightly compensate for that minority and women backlash, and I just don't see that happening, especially not in the key states he needs to win.
