Any white players perform the gesture today?
I had to look up what the Pens said. Disappointing they could've taken a stand like the Warriors but honestly I doubt the NHL, the players, and a good portion of its fanbase would be in the camp that support this protest.
No it isn't, you should actually read what he said
No it's not. Watch Tomlin's comments. They did not want to make a political statement either way and are avoiding the sitiuation all together to avoid players making a choice against each other. It was not meant as an act of defiance.
"As you can see in the photos trump got more players to kneel than we've ever seen before from previous presidents. Truly record breaking."Sarah Sanders: "The President appreciates his supporters that showed up at the White House today to bend at the knee and pledge their allegiance to him..."
Seriously though, does no one else think this whole Trump thing has distracted from the actual message that Kaepernick was sending?
Kneeling no longer says anything about racism and police brutality. It's all about sending Trump a message. If Trump hadn't said people that kneeled were sons of bitches, everything would've stayed the same. Players would say they support Kaep and think he should be on a team, but they wouldn't actually do anything. Now kneeling is the cool thing to do because Trump's an asshole.

But it's not. It's about Trump. None of these people were kneeling last week, but now that the president says they should be fired, they're all in.It can be about both things.
At Wembley more than 20 players and staff from both sides either knelt or linked arms during the anthem, including some white players.Any white players perform the gesture today?

One player going out and standing makes the rest of the team not being there a statement IMO

Great solidarity for our National Anthem and for our Country. Standing with locked arms is good, kneeling is not acceptable. Bad ratings!
I think that Villanueva going out there changes things quite a bit. As soon as you have one person choosing to go, it implies that the remainder of the team is actively choosing not to. Before that it just seemed like it was a team decision and players were in the locker room whether they liked it or not.
It doesn't have to be about both things for all people. But in truth, you don't know what is running through the minds of these players when they chose to kneel today. And regardless, both issues are very important, and both are intertwined. But it's not. It's about Trump. None of these people were kneeling last week, but now that the president says they should be fired, they're all in.

On the Steelers choosing to stay out of politics:
"We must take sides. Neutrality helps the oppressor, never the victim. Silence encourages the tormentor, never the tormented. Sometimes we must interfere." - Elie Wiesel
Unfortunately, the first amendment only protects against Congress passing laws and not the head of the Executive Branch and his administration pressuring businesses to fire employees that peacefully protesting. It's insane where we are right now.

Bad fucking ratings? Who the fuck is this clown?

This was probably pointed out, but a big element of this could be the city of Pittsburgh and its "demographics". Hopefully I'm just being cynical.

Yep note to self read thread... Ugh Steelers ugh, staying in the locker room could have been an incredible statement... instead you make it such a cowardly one, especially by sending out the Army vet to stand...Ugh fuck that shit.
Did ANY Dallas Cowboys player take the knee? I'm seeing images of many teams but not Cowboys. What the hell?
Hahaha he is taking credit for the linking of arms.
People who locked arms instead of kneeling are getting co-opted

Knew this was gonna happen.
It was Kneel or nothing.
SAD!LMFAO "oh shit my best friend Tom locked arms, what do I do, what do I do???"
This is where half-measures get ya.
Honestly who cares how they spin it. They were going to spin it regardless.
Stop worrying about how they spin it please. The goalposts were always going to be moved.

Rico Lavelle, took a knee after singing the National Anthem. Video at the link.
The Penguins made sure they put out a statement to stand with the President.

He couldnt spin kneeling as a victory though.
The standing locked arms is an easy victory to spin.
